BJSC 167: Karpe, Kaifi Khalil & Delara ft. Quick Style - Piya Piya Calling

Whenever I pass by your city

It’s the sight of you I yearn to see

I hug your photo earnestly

As I take leave from your gathering

Do you remember him who loved you insanely?

You loved, yet you weren’t able to see

This heartbreak can never be redeemed

You won’t come, I’ve come to believe

You’ve formed me a connection so deep

This love’s made me dance to your beat

Arabic, Balochi, Farsi, Gujurati, Norwegian and Urdu :upsidedowndog:

There is something a little magical about the collision of cultures and artistic expressions - here we have Norwegian rap duo Karpe (arguably our most famous act here in Norway), Amanda Delara (also pretty prominent) and Pakistani singer Kaifi Khalil, and of course the dance group Quick Style. The music video absolutely brings it all together - so pls watch while you listen!

BJSC 168: Lissie - Further Away (Romance Police)

He gets further away

Stop! Thief! Somebody! Hey!

He just stole her heart and he’s gettin’ away

With every step that you take

Call up the romance police

He’s got deep blue eyes, he’s disturbing the peace

He gets further away

Watch out, 'cause everyone knows

He’s beauty with pain; a thorn and a rose

With every step that you take

Seek help immediately

With every step that you take

He’s walking off so casually

Sending a former radio fave here in Norway, "Further Away (Romance Police)" by Lissie ^_^

We did not get to send our first choice (will probably give it high points in the final tho x), but I will say that this song is something I listen to pretty consistently. About time that I actually sent it!

Halloween V: LilyPichu - If There Was A Zombie Apocalypse I'd Let My Dog Eat Me

If there was a zombie apocalypse I'd let my dog eat me
The situations dire and my house is on fire
But at least she'd be healthy
If there was a zombie apocalypse I'd let my dog eat me
There are zombies full of lead
And my friends are all dead
But at least she'd be healthy

BJSC 169: Moddi - A Matter of Habit

Cruelty is a matter of habit

The more you've seen it, the better you're at it

Every boy has a tyrant's desire

Hands behind the head, legs spread wide

These are times of danger, times of despair

No room for compassion, a soldier can't care

Our neighbors are vermin, they're used to the blood

How can they feel pain when they're living in the mud?

Through cruel routine a soldier is born

Ignorance soon turns to evil in war

Israel's land is for Israel's kin

Cruelty comes as a natural thing

Learning to love is a natural thing

It will find a way if you just let it in

It will be strange at first, but then you'll see it

That learning to love is a matter of being

Being human is a matter of habit

A few baby steps, then you get better at it

To be for one minute, just now, just recall

The opposite side of the towering walls

But our hearts have hardened along with our skin

We built a bubble and let no one else in

We'll be staring in wonder as the angel falls

Then being human will be a matter of course

Will be a matter of course

The song A Matter of Habbit sung by Norwegian Singer-Songwriter Moddi is a cover of an Israeli song made by Izhar Ashdot. Izhar Ashdot is probably the closest thing to a rock-star Israel has, everyone knows atleast one song by him, regardless of age. The lyrics are based on stories and reports told by different Israeli soldiers. These soldiers are part of an organization called Breaking The Silence, a group of ex-soldiers who want to end the occupation of Palestinian land. When Ashdot went to perform at one of the biggest radio stations in 2012, Galatz, the station commander turned the song away, despite being the one to invite him in the first place – as a consolidation price he was allowed to perform another of his songs. In the aftermath, Galatz, realised the following statement: “There is no room at Galatz for a song that degrades and condemns those who have sacrificed their lives for the fatherland”. After all, the radio station was a station for soldiers and by soldiers, not at all a place where one could criticise those who protected the nation. This version was released 8 years ago, and unfortunately the song still is current with the attacks and counter attacks in Gaza. the West Bank and Lebanon.

BJSC 170: Nahaba - Vesnianka

Oh, spring

You horrible spring

What did you bring us?

Your brought us dark fates

And pools of blood

A wreath for a little child

A dead daughter for an old woman

Mountains of enemy corpses

Those who are killing the spirit of disobedience

Ruins for the landlords

Boys are dying in the field

Funerals for a couple

Tears for the young girls

From one conflict to another. We have moved our way to Ukraine this time. The duo Nahaba participated in this years national final to represent Ukraine with "Glasss" a song that I was considering until I found "Vesnianka". This song, like "Glasss" tells a tragic story that mirrors the lives of Ukrainians amidst the backdrop of the war that is happening. Both singers in this song do a very good job expressing both the despair and anger about the attacks that are happening. Very chilling to listen to. Hope this a discovery for some of you!

BJSC 172: Spellling - Portrait of My Heart

Oh I miss the tender voices from above
And the comfort of a pure and simple love
Oh I can't believe I thought that I could take
What the soul will not permit the hand to make
I see violet I see fields of golden grain
I see creatures in the black electric plane
Cast down in the shadow I will start
To paint another portrait of my heart

BJSC 173: Gunship - When You Grow Up, Your Heart Dies

BJSC 175: Victoria - In Between

I want to scream
Let the water rush in
It's the only place you left for me
If the ocean is lonely
Finally found myself in the deep
Been gone for so long in the in between
In the in between
