Yeah after Hear Them Calling I'm wary. With Unbroken I was gutted too but she just wasn't really good enough live. I wouldn't be bowled over with shock if Paper made it but I can totally see it 11th or 12th becasue it's a tough semi, it doesn't seem to have much buzz and it's not exactly the most Eurovision-y song ever. It's in my top 5 of the whole contest EASILY so I'm hoping you are right Pav as it's be a more gutting DNQ than Hear Them Calling for me, if not as much of a shock.

The technical difficulties meaning she didn't backing vocallists to sing the high notes for her x

Also anyone fancy Rabbiting this? Me and Ultraviolence/Sam are keen so I'll probably set it up closer to the time.

Beyond hyped for the commencement of the MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR!

My final predictions/takes are

~Azerbaijan will be the "shock" non qualifier because it'll get crowded out in the first half and the stage presentation will just be read as too "wtf" - plus Dihaj ain't all that!

~Because of that, Iceland will sneak through in 10th and then bomb in the final

~Okay, Portugal are probably qualifying but I still don't think it's coming 2nd behind Italy like some people are saying.

~Belgium are actually back on track for a good result since Blanche seems to be peaking at just the right time

In a very rough order of how they'll finish:

Sweden

Armenia

Belgium

Portugal

Australia

Latvia

Finland

Greece

Moldova

Iceland

---

Azerbaijan

Poland

Cyprus

Albania

Montenegro

Georgia

Slovenia

Czech Republic

Excitement for the semis! Just need the four main essentials Sweden/Armenia/Finland/Belgium advancing and we're good (got a slightly-biased optimism Blackbird will soar through but I am a tad bit worried for Blanche)

Oh and Cyprus too please, I actually reckon it's got a better chance than most are expecting

these are my first and last predictions having watched 30 seconds of just a few of the rehearsals

01 Armenia: Artsvik - Fly With Me

02 Finland: Norma John - Blackbird

03 Sweden: Robin Bengtsson - I Can't Go On

04 Portugal: Salvador Sobral - Amar Pelos Dois

05 Latvia: Triana Park - Line

06 Iceland: Svala - Paper

07 Australia: Isaiah - Don't Come Easy

08 Montenegro: Slavko Kalezić - Space

09 Moldova: Sunstroke Project - Hey Mamma

10 Greece: Demy - This Is Love

---

11 Azerbaijan: Dihaj - Skeletons

12 Belgium: Blanche - City Lights

13 Georgia: Tamara Gachechiladze - Keep The Faith

14 Cyprus: Hovig - Gravity

15 Slovenia: Omar Naber - On My Way

16 Czech Republic: Martina Bárta - My Turn

17 Poland: Kasia Moś - Flashlight

18 Albania: Lindita - World

I too believe Azerbaijan might not make it although it's a stunning song.

Iceland and Finland will sail through this time but will most likely bomb in the final indeed, 'Senhora do mar' style.

Seriously cannot think of any possible outcome where any of the songs below 13th place inclusive qualify.

I predict:

Sweden

Australia

Belgium

Azerbaijan

Finland

Portugal

Moldova

Cyprus

Armenia

Latvia

I'm starting to really worry about Latvia, it's far too good and avant-garde to miss out. Might have to put that up into my 'must vote for' list.

My prediction

1 Sweden

2 Portugal

3 Armenia

4 Azerbaijan

5 Australia

6 Belgium

7 Poland

8 Greece

9 Cyprus

10 Moldova

I think Finland will be quite safely through, in fact I wouldn't be surprised to learn they won the jury vote!
Anyone have a non geo-locked stream? I'm in Hamburg and have no idea if it's on the basic few hotel TV channels but can hopefully watch online somewhere!
Finland will hopefully come top five in the semi, or higher! So striking - really does still sound like a lost Sarah McLachlan classic!

It's on YouTube and I would imagine it's not blocked in Germany!

Brill, thank you!

Oh LORD if Azerbaijan and Latvia DNQ, as well as Iceland :/ At least Blanche looks ok now, otherwise that'd be 4 of my top 10 gone.
Doesn't Eurovision.tv usually live stream without commentary too? I watched in 2009 via that way when I was in Australia.

Can't wait for tonight! I usually never watch the semis and only listen to the qualified song, so this time is a big change

I hope my fav will go through to the finale!

Just a silly question, but the Big 5 aren't performing during the semis right?

I thought they didn't but at the same time it would make sense for them to perform at one of the semis in terms of equal exposure so I don't know?!

WANT in bold, PREDICT in italics

It's going to be an actual fucking hate crime if Montenegro doesn't qualify but I FEAR THE WORST.

The Eurovision stream is blocked in the US! Hopefully I can get around it before the show starts...
