part of me wants a foreign language winner (portugal or italy) but i prefer bulgaria as a total package. can we call it a tie plz :(

Italy has remained my favourite since it was chosen but Portugal are such an underdog story with them never even managing a top 5 before but Bulgaria have sent my 2nd favourite song and it would be a twink victory. I'd find reason to be happy with any of them but also sad for the others :snif:

Bulgaria and Portugal are pretty straight forward and it's likely they'd be in their capital cities. Lisbon have the 20,000 seater MEO Arena and Bulgaria have the 12,000 seater "Arena Armeec" in Sofia which hosted Junior Eurovision in 2015 (And Destiny who won for Malta there will be old enough to compete in grown up Eurovision from next year - could she be ready to come back to Sofia and do the double?).

Omg you're right *. I checked Wikipedia last night where her birthday is listed both as January 19th and August 29th 2002

I've listened to Portugal's (yawn) and Italy's (tune!) entries so far but what other ones would people recommend that are must-hear tracks before the final tomorrow ? :o

I stan hard. B-)

Netherlands, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Denmark and Belgium too!

That is amazing!! True Queen of Eurovision.

Let's have a celebratory listen tbh

Just got back from the jury final. Really odd and flat atmosphere compared to Sweden last year, every line from the hosts met with total and utter silence from a mostly Ukrainian crowd - that'll be the English barrier I think. Everyone around me seemed more concerned with having conversations and taking selfies than listening to the actual songs, only perking up for the Ukrainian entry. I bailed out once France were done so won't see the interval until tomorrow.

Thoughts:

* Really think Portugal could win this. Italy got an ok reaction but nothing huge, Portugal was really well received. Bulgaria's never really clicked with me but vocally he was on form.

* Lucie was note perfect. Brilliant reaction even from the Ukrainians. As long as she doesn't mess up tomorrow we're surely due our best result since Blue, anything else would be cruelly unfair.

* Worried about Blanche. I don't think she's "nervous" at all, just in character for the song, but a casual viewer (and maybe jury member) may find it hard to tell. Crowd reaction muted as it followed Ukraine and some were watching back their phone videos during the song, but I really want it to do well.

* No one seemed to give a shit about Croatia, which seemed a shame as I rather enjoyed it! Hadn't heard it before tonight. Other faves - Armenia, Moldova, Netherlands and Romania.

Looking forward to the real final tomorrow!

We all know which of those is the most likely to miss the real top 10 :')

Do you know how France performance went by any chance?

Pretty perfectly (Alma is adorable!) though it might suffer from coming both last in the running order and after Bulgaria. Last year Armenia were last and still did brilliantly, but Iveta had the less challenging task of following Joe & Jake.

I was in the Golden Circle for the Family Final this afternoon, generally a better crowd but still absolutely dominated by locals in a way that Sweden last year wasn't. Most still performed in full costume except Italy, Francesco just wearing a casual shirt and the gorilla just wearing his head! Croatia's reaction better, Blanche pretty flawless and Lucie again storming it.

Not surprised there's not such an international feel to the audience this year, let's be honest Ukraine is not particularly LGBT friendly and there's the small matter of a civil war - both likely to have kept people away.

Lovin' that PressPollFinal2017

100 X 99 X 90

It's going to be very close then. :w00t:

Why does it always start at 8 in the UK? Surely if Australia won they couldn't start at 4am their time?

If Australia won Eurovision would be held in another European country of their choice.

The official start time is always 9pm Central European Time. When the contest was held in Baku in 2012, they started at midnight local time!

And hey, there's been enough of a following in Australia that watch the show from 5AM their time for them to always meet the televote threshold so clearly it's just part of the experience of Eurovision for them. Although I think most of them watch it on a 12 or so hour delay on Sunday night which is how SBS has shown it for the last few years.
