June 8, 20178 yr Not really. They are much bigger in the US, mainly due to them coming from the X-Factor which got them a core fanbase already. For that same reason Little Mix are HUGE in the UK and got the chances they got. There's nothing negative about that. That being said, outside of those countries Fifth Harmony will have just as hard a time as any other new act to establish a core fanbase, just like Little Mix struggled in the US for a long time and still are. Yes, Little Mix being launched on the UK X Factor has helped them in the UK, and yes, Fourth Harmony being launched on the US X Factor has helped them in the US, but there are plenty of other reasons why neither have been that successful on the other side of their respective ponds. In the US, radio airplay and good promo has been a big issue for Little Mix. They definitely have a core fanbase in the US though, unfortunately it hasn't really expanded beyond that. The lack of massive success for Fourth Harmony in the UK is mainly because their songs aren't very good... :P Exactly why other girl bands have also struggled from the UK itself such as Neon Jungle and MO in recent years. I think it's got more to do with their songs being utter w*** in all honesty... :D Edited June 8, 20178 yr by OutstandingMixer
June 9, 20178 yr Still underwhelmed by the video. It and the song aren't terrible, but the chorus lets it down. The video's also essentially just KDA + Tinashe's for Just Say x4 plus Gucci and gratuitous pool shots.
June 9, 20178 yr I was really hoping this would grow on me, but it's just SO basic and limp. I've never been a huge fan of WFH, but I can at least appreciate its appeal. Honestly, to me, this is just a colossal misfire. I really hope it doesn't squander all their momentum. This video's decent at least (but still a bit lacking). Edited June 9, 20178 yr by Defaze

I don't think airplay is an issue for the girls over here in the UK - nor has streaming but I think the main reason (without turning this into a LM vs 5H debate which I know mixers just LOVE) LM haven't made it over in the US is because their music isn't that great and 5H are too homegrown for them to compete against. The Saturdays never made it in the states nor did GA (although they were never really pushed out there) so as long as 5H have the decent success they've had over in the states in this era I think they'll be just fine with continuing the success.

I don't see FOURTH HARMONY lasting much longer tbh... ;)
June 9, 20178 yr I've decided that this is one of the worst songs of all time. It is incredibly lazy in terms of both the lyrics, production and everything else.
June 9, 20178 yr Yeah this is garbage  just a lazy Work from Home rehash with none of the charm? Flush this please
June 10, 20178 yr There's a mashup of Down and Work From Home on Youtube: deLiWEa0rng I like the parts using the WFH instrumental and the Down vocals!
June 11, 20178 yr While it's hard to ignore that they are desperately trying to recreate the success of Work From Home, I am rooting for them. I can't stand Camila and when I heard she left the group I immediately liked them 10x more.
June 12, 20178 yr I'm such a bigger fan of them now as well Zach since Cabello left. I loved them before but now they're challenging GRL for my second favourite girl band! I know chart positions aren't everything but the fact this has debuted at 42 on the Hor 100 is quite impressive, the only way is up
June 12, 20178 yr 42 is quite impressive? Compare it to where the likes of Boss and Sledgehammer went. They only had one bit of promo too and airplay hasn't kicked off yet.
June 12, 20178 yr Author I know chart positions aren't everything but the fact this has debuted at 42 on the Hor 100 is quite impressive, the only way is up  Lol The song is a total banger (even though it's a TOTAL rip-off of Work From Home which will make me detest it in due course) but it's flopping undeniably. At this point after release of Work From Home - it was already #16 on UK Spotify.
June 12, 20178 yr Compare it to where the likes of Boss and Sledgehammer went. They only had one bit of promo too and airplay hasn't kicked off yet.But they're on a completely different level now compared to where they were when those two tracks were released? Their last era set them up for a bigger era this time. I love 'Down' and I know we need longer nowadays to determine whether something is a hit or not, but they really should've had an easy top 30 instant hit with their first single from a new era after what their last era did for them. :(
June 13, 20178 yr There's a mashup of Down and Work From Home on Youtube: deLiWEa0rng I like the parts using the WFH instrumental and the Down vocals! Reminds me of that Cheap Thrills / Shape Of You mashup. But at least in that case it was an artist copying a completely different artist, Whereas here it's just the 4/5H girls being lazy and trying to recreate a hit.
June 13, 20178 yr Can this bullshit "Fourth Harmony" please STOP. It's irritating af to see and most importantly, it's not even remotely humorous! :rolleye: They're called FIFTH Harmony. Deal with it.
June 13, 20178 yr Tbh I think their name makes more sense this way lmao. Each girls have a voice and then them together as a group make another voice, thus being the "5th Harmony" *upside down smiley face*
June 13, 20178 yr Even charting on the Hot 100 is a big deal in the US! The way their chart is compiled is ridiculous like a song can be top 40 on iTunes and not even get to #100
