Not really. They are much bigger in the US, mainly due to them coming from the X-Factor which got them a core fanbase already. For that same reason Little Mix are HUGE in the UK and got the chances they got. There's nothing negative about that. That being said, outside of those countries Fifth Harmony will have just as hard a time as any other new act to establish a core fanbase, just like Little Mix struggled in the US for a long time and still are.

 

Yes, Little Mix being launched on the UK X Factor has helped them in the UK, and yes, Fourth Harmony being launched on the US X Factor has helped them in the US, but there are plenty of other reasons why neither have been that successful on the other side of their respective ponds. In the US, radio airplay and good promo has been a big issue for Little Mix. They definitely have a core fanbase in the US though, unfortunately it hasn't really expanded beyond that. The lack of massive success for Fourth Harmony in the UK is mainly because their songs aren't very good... :P

 

Exactly why other girl bands have also struggled from the UK itself such as Neon Jungle and MO in recent years.

 

I think it's got more to do with their songs being utter w*** in all honesty... :D

Still underwhelmed by the video. It and the song aren't terrible, but the chorus lets it down.

 

The video's also essentially just KDA + Tinashe's for Just Say x4 plus Gucci and gratuitous pool shots.

I was really hoping this would grow on me, but it's just SO basic and limp. I've never been a huge fan of WFH, but I can at least appreciate its appeal. Honestly, to me, this is just a colossal misfire. I really hope it doesn't squander all their momentum.

I don't think airplay is an issue for the girls over here in the UK - nor has streaming but I think the main reason (without turning this into a LM vs 5H debate which I know mixers just LOVE) LM haven't made it over in the US is because their music isn't that great and 5H are too homegrown for them to compete against. The Saturdays never made it in the states nor did GA (although they were never really pushed out there) so as long as 5H have the decent success they've had over in the states in this era I think they'll be just fine with continuing the success.

While it's hard to ignore that they are desperately trying to recreate the success of Work From Home, I am rooting for them. I can't stand Camila and when I heard she left the group I immediately liked them 10x more.

I'm such a bigger fan of them now as well Zach since Cabello left. I loved them before but now they're challenging GRL for my second favourite girl band!

The song is a total banger (even though it's a TOTAL rip-off of Work From Home which will make me detest it in due course) but it's flopping undeniably. At this point after release of Work From Home - it was already #16 on UK Spotify.

But they're on a completely different level now compared to where they were when those two tracks were released? Their last era set them up for a bigger era this time.

Reminds me of that Cheap Thrills / Shape Of You mashup. But at least in that case it was an artist copying a completely different artist, Whereas here it's just the 4/5H girls being lazy and trying to recreate a hit.
