June 7, 20178 yr It's like Destiny's Child releasing a single without Beyoncé. Savage Were they ever legit big in the UK though? Work From Home was big yeah, but that was only their lead single - they had two more that did not much last year.

To be fair All In My Head and That's My Girl went silver, they hung around quite well for their peaks. Idk if it's the lack of Camila, I think this is just not a great song  It is indeed just a lesser Work From Home, the sort of thing that could've been on the last album but not be even remotely considered for release. If they had a proper pop banger like That's My Girl or Sledgehammer for example, I'm sure it would have started off better.
June 7, 20178 yr I think this thread is being way too critical. Like Liam said they had two silver singles last era and Boss went top 20 and Worth It was also a pretty decent sized hit.

I guess I was just going for more... they're not high-profile enough that them releasing one dud song is a huge deal. If say Little Mix or Rihanna came out with a really underwhelming lead single that would be alarm bells because of how strong their usual output is. A group like Fifth Harmony... it doesn't feel like they're big enough yet, in the UK anyway, for enough people to've had super high expectations for their new song.

Oh no they'll never be huge over here with no real platform to have been launched on like Girls Aloud or Little Mix. Video coming today according to Twitter!
June 8, 20178 yr I listened to a preview of this on iTunes today. Can't say I am fussed. It feels like a huge step down from where they were.
June 8, 20178 yr Oh no they'll never be huge over here with no real platform to have been launched on like Girls Aloud or Little Mix. That's a lame excuse tbh. Having no platform never stopped Destiny's Child, TLC and The Pussycat Dolls being huge here.
June 8, 20178 yr I actually really like 'Down' imo it's better than Camila's I find hers just a knock off Sia.
June 8, 20178 yr I like the video. The aesthetic of it all with all the neony stuff is so cool and a weak spot for me with videos lol. (Although nothing has topped the 'Super Bass' video in that respect) I still feel the same about the song as I did when I first heard it. I dont hate it and I dont love it. It's a good bop though. June 8, 20178 yr That's a lame excuse tbh. Having no platform never stopped Destiny's Child, TLC and The Pussycat Dolls being huge here. I'm not using it as an excuse? They're much bigger in the US than they are here. I'm just stating comparatively they won't be as big as LM or GA here.
June 8, 20178 yr Video is alright, it looks like Into You meets What Do You Mean I was going to go with I'm In Love With A Monster ft. Body Talk!

You said Fourth Harmony would never be huge here because they didn't have a "platform" like Little Mix and Girls Aloud did (which is a lame excuse to use when other US girl groups have had massive success here).

He gave possible reasons as to why they weren't as big as others. Not the same as an excuse

June 8, 20178 yr It's a lame reason then  Not really. They are much bigger in the US, mainly due to them coming from the X-Factor which got them a core fanbase already. For that same reason Little Mix are HUGE in the UK and got the chances they got. There's nothing negative about that. That being said, outside of those countries Fifth Harmony will have just as hard a time as any other new act to establish a core fanbase, just like Little Mix struggled in the US for a long time and still are. You can't compare either of these bands to either of those cause they bursted onto the scene with jam after jam and appealed to the masses and were on trend. Nowaday "real pop" is more of a thing and girlbands are usually not considered "real" but instead get tags like "manufactured" and "sex dolls".

Exactly why other girl bands have also struggled from the UK itself such as Neon Jungle and MO in recent years.
