Seems like she hasn't been bothered with this era much. CTTR is an exception but the quality of music from her has been poor recently.

Just because the stuff she's put out hasn't been as well received as previous eras, that's not the same as saying she "hasn't been bothered" about the era lol

That's subjective though. I think the new Harry Styles and Liam Payne singles are abysmal for example and I'm shocked that they've done so well, but that's probably because they're male pop stars.
It's not because they're male, it's because it's their first solo material since leaving the biggest boyband of the 2010s.
How exactly? It's not her fault that people love to see female pop stars fail.

It's not that, it's more that female pop stars are more popular on here than in the general public at the moment.

Camilla Cabello's "Crying in the Club" has been deleted and replaced with "I Have Questions"

Bon Appétit. That will be looked back on in years to come as a huge (potentially) career damaging mistake.

It's not that bad, she's done a lot worse...

Remember 'Peacock'?

I agree with Jack, though, the public seem to be on a bit of a "we hate Katy Perry" bandwagon since before that. Swish Swish isn't doing any better than Bon Appetit did in its first week. People do seem to go through "we hate ___" phases with pop stars quite often, Taylor's seen it in the past but not to this degree, Lady Gaga certainly has.

Yet peacock is one of her best selling tracks in the UK despite never being an official single... :P

I actually quite like Bon Appetit, but I think it is just not what fans were expecting off of her. After CTTR, it is a change of direction so the campaign has come across a bit confusing. If the video was ready to go at the same time the track came out, I doubt it would be in this position where it is having to climb back up. That comes down to Katy's camp probably being a bit over-confident in her name's power to consistently sell and pick up airplay while preparing the video.

Exactly. I don't think gender comes into this at all, Katy's just past the peak and for some reason she's become a bit of a hate figure on social media, but it's nothing related to her being female.

Yeah exactly, it's almost as if she'd decided to release that as a crucial single in her career.

Peacock is one of her best selling tracks?? Where on earth have you got that from? It's not even in her Top 10 selling tracks

Below are Katy Perry's Official Top 20 best-selling singles in the UK (based on physical and downloads):

POS TITLE ARTIST CHART PEAK

20 PEACOCK KATY PERRY N/A

It's done well for an album track, that can't be denied.

Katy Perry has only passed her peak because the songs suck from this album so far except for cttr which hardly set the charts alight

Do we reckon Calvin could get any tracks top 40 from his album? I assume the one that gets put on New Music Friday will probably make it, not sure about the rest though.
