I've made enough of PVRIS over the years to hold people to that.

But you can bet that if I'd not been on mobile you'd have been right

I was so lucky to have my debut in the contest where 'Take Me Home' won and be able to witness a fab run of winners there! 'Cry No More' is absolutely stunning!! I admit that I forgot about The Kite String Tangle but I've just downloaded it there because it's also beautiful

'Given The Chance' is my favourite of the Trifoski winners as well, got 7 points from me! (and I was one of the seemingly very few people who didn't care at all for the Goldroom song, I much preferred their earlier entry 'Sweetness Alive' which didn't do nearly as well).

My top points went to Henry Krinkle's 'Stay' which I was really rooting for to become a UK hit but it ultimately peaked at the frustrating #41 IIRC. :( Then there was another future big hit, again from Espen, in the form of DVBBS and Borgeous' 'Tsunami' (sans the pointless Tinie Tempah parts on the version that got to #1 here). Klingande's 'Jubel' was also in this contest prior to being a UK hit. And have to shout out Ethanola's debut entry, the brilliant 'Gotham' by Ten Walls *.* a 9 minute song qualifying was pretty wild at the time (has become slightly more commonplace in recent years). That one didn't become a UK hit but it was pretty much the same song as 'Walking With Elephants' which did become a very unexpected but great top 10 hit.

Oh is this the contest where I entered Experience? (I remember it being in the same one as Jubel as both Ryan and I did well as AQs) - if so, Experience is one of my own favourite entries and the one I'd probably choose to have won if I could swap one.

Ten Walls was excellent too - this must have been a pretty strong contest.

(also while I'm here, this thread is fantastic and I don't think I've said that yet - such a good idea from King Rollo  )

60. Eledan - Meet Me In A House Of Love - Cut Copy

I'm pleased to see Aphex Twin's Windowlicker finished as high as 4th place. At the top of the scoreboard,it was a comfortable victory for Cut Copy who finished 26 points ahead of Hate Or Glory by Gesaffelstein (N DNTN). Because Of U by RL Grime was 3rd for FSR Rontvia.

Meet Me In A House Of Love is another good synthpop winner but not original enough to get a high score from me. Cut Copy add to the number of Australian winners. They release their fifth album in three weeks.

8.1 out of 10.

My revised league table:

1. Run Boy Run - Woodkid 10.2

2. All My Life - Chart Music 9.9

3. Someone Like You (Live) - Adele 9.7

4. The Girl And The Robot - Royksopp 9.6

5. Sadness Is A Blessing - Lykke Li 9.55

6. Halcyon - Delphic 9.5

7. Bring It Back - Marcel Woods 9.45

8. Not A Love Song - Uh Huh Her 9.4

9. Hyperventilating - Ronya 9.35

10. Moan - Trentemoller 9.3

Just one change as Bring It Back enters the top 10 and Youth by Foxes drops out.

Take Me Home and Cry No More both scored 9 or more but not enough to make the top 10.

61. Daehun - Derniere Danse - Indila

A first win for Daehun and a rare foreign language winner as Indila finished 18 points ahead of Kids of the Apocalypse representing Persephonia with Empire. Love Me Lots by Ain't No Love was 3rd for Aeroche.

I like the orchestration and her vocals. It then gets melodramatic with the tubular bells and the choir. Very good song. It reached no.2 in France,Indila's home country, and spent 13 weeks at no.1 on the Greek chart.

9 out of 10.

One of the best top 3s in BJSC history, with Empire being an anthem and Love Me Lots being one of my favourite discoveries ever - and certainly a winner I was very happy to see get a win for Daehun, even if it wasn't that K-Pop winner he's forever after, it's by some distance the best of the ones he has managed, such beautiful foreboding and sweeping epic pop.

62. FARC - Artifice - Sohn

I know Solo Dancing by Indiana which finished 4th,that would have made a good winner. Instead,it was a first win for FARC as Sohn finished just two points ahead of Christopher Tin and the Soweto Gospel Choir with their song Baba Yetu (Skall). Jaded by Toyboy & Robin was 3rd for Aeroche.

This a good bit of electropop with its layers of sound and an interesting video. Sohn is English musician Christopher Taylor.

8.9 out of 10.

Artifice and Baba Yetu is probably one of my all time favourite top 2s, both such stunning songs  I was hoping the latter would win though, was so amazing seeing a classical song (the Lord's Prayer in Swahili no less!) that high up.

2014 was a fantastic year for BJSC discoveries for me so I was really into the contest at this point (and I did have what would be my biggest hit up until 80 despite being invaded by dinosaurs which was a plus!)

62: Sohn was a nice enough winner but I really wanted Toyboy & Robin to do it, that is one of Aeroche's all time greats. 'Baba Yet' I still think it's overrated.

61: Indila was my least favourite of that top 3, not bad but not really what I'm into. 'Empire' and 'Love Me Lots' were brilliant.

60: Again here I'd take the rest of the top 3 over what won here but I think I gave all of them points, and this is before the 18 point system.

59: Another good top 3, again I prefer the songs in 2nd and 3rd (becoming a bit of a theme) but 'Given The Chance' nearly made my points.

58: Not a classic top 3 in my opinion but this time the right song in 'Cry No More' won imo, and quite lucky it did too.

57: I think I gave 'Dark Star' higher points at the time but 'Take Me Home' was definitely the right song to win there, brilliant entry and probably one of the all-time stand out winners of BJSC.

A long run of great winners since i last commented ;o everything since So High have pretty much been the 'rightful' winners tbh

'Given The Chance' and 'Meet Me In A House Of Love' are utterly sublime synthpop <3 BJSC 59 was such a good quality contest, possibly one of the best i've been in

Still love the vibes on Artifice

The last 3 contests posted here all had GOOD winners but I'd have swapped the top 2 around in all 3 of them - of course partially because it would give me a win again in BJSC 61 :D but I do think 'EMPIRE' is one of my best entries, perhaps the only time I've gone into a contest knowing that I had a big hit, such an undeniable chorus. Indila is the best of Yu's winners by far though so was happy enough to lose out to her - although Pavel was mean enough while hosting to do a 'twist' where he posted that I'd won then was like 'oops actually that last 12 went to Daehun'. Didn't have to wait toooo much longer to finally get a winner though, awaiting its appearance in this thread :o not sure what your thoughts on it will be ~ 'Love Me Lots' would also have made a better winner than Indila, I think that's my favourite Aeroche entry, utterly euphoric *. only my 10 at the time behind Pavel's AQ 'Fukayomi' which I don't listen to as much any more.

As for the other two runners-up, 'Hate Or Glory' is another one of my favourite ever BJSC discoveries (though only got 8 at the time behind 'Windowlicker' - fair enough, an all-time favourite, one of the last old classic hit singles to ever be allowed into the contest - and Pyramid's 'Wolf' which I don't listen to that much any more although I did revisit it the other day incidentally, still a good tune and good that it gave Varakë a first and still to date only top 10), while 'Baba Yetu' was also an absolute stunner that would have been a really special winner, again only my 8 points though (beaten by Låpsley's 'Station' and Skogsrå's 'Now You See Me' which were both incredibly underrated, the latter has stuck with me more and would be my 12 these days while I would now give 'Baba Yetu' 10, which would make another tied winner... though SOHN would easily win the tiebreak still. SOHN was my 6 pointer so no complaints at all at it winning, especially as it made a good comeback for Jake, though I don't know why everyone was here for both that and SOHN's Unknown Pleasures winner while my own SOHN entry which was just as good only came 19th!!1)

63. Eledan - Sissy That Walk - RuPaul

A second win from the last four contests for Eledan as RuPaul finished just two points ahead of Wonky by Orbital and Lady Leshurr (Aeroche). This was Aeroche's sixth top 4 placing in a row,but no wins. Peking Duk's High was 3rd for Hendinia.

It's been a while since a pure pop song won the contest. It's catchy enough but not really my thing.

6.7 out of 10.

Once again I really wish the top two had been the other way round in this contest as 'Wonky' is another of my favourite Aeroche entries, yet another contest where I gave 2nd place 8 points (while my 12 went to 'High' in third place ) 'Sissy That Walk' is very much not my thing as well but it is decent for what it is ~ Lushington's 'Settle Down' is another enduring favourite from this contest, my 10 pointer. This contest also featured the original instrumental of 'Gecko' by Oliver Heldens which was later a UK #1 with vocals by Becky Hill.

Bring It Back was a decent winner, like Jade said earlier in this thread it's much more interesting and appealing than Spinnin' Records tends to be! My 12 that contest was Killer by Sharon Doorson, which was an absolute monster of a perfect pop song and I was glad that it got top 10 in an era where pop was being ushered out a bit. My own entry that month happens to be one of my gutting DNQs, the beautiful Bones by Ginny Blackmroe which was recently covered by Rebecca Ferguson for her latest album. I thought it would catch on so it was gutting to see such a wonderful song flop :(

So High is very good for what it is, I think I pointed it like 4 or 5 points. Idk what it is it just appealed to me a lot more than a lot of similar songs would. I'd have rather BIPP, Run On Love or Hello won out of the top 10, my 12 that contest was American Girl by Bonnie McKee but Run On Love is definitely my fave from that contest now, an absolute banger.

Take Me Home is one I never got, in fact I wasn't big on either of that top 2. So I'm unsure how Belanger won TBO as well, but hey ho. Tbh this is where my commentary gets a little samey, at this point I got pretty disinterested in BJSC, still competed and listened but the songs in these contests by and large aren't ones I remember so fondly as ones in other eras. Little Nikki Says easily should have won this contest, an absolute pop stomper with so much attitude. We Do What We Like is always a banger I forget about though .*.*

Cry No More was a lovely winner, about middle of the pack here but the standard has been so high as middle of the pack certainly isn't average. Both that and Alida would have made fab winners, it's a shame that Ryan still doesn't have that winner after coming so close with Some Of Us! My 12 that month was TLC's Creep, not a discovery but a solid fave of course. I'd have had SZA's Julia to win out of the top 3, stunning song, but I can't begrudge Cry No More as I voted for that too.

Given The Chance is antoher one I never got, but in general that was a pretty hideous top 10. Jubel and Stay are possibly the two worst BJSC tracks in the period covered by this catch up mini essay I am posting, in fact the only one of that top 10 I I only liked Tsunami and Melodies and only pointed the former. For the 2nd time in a row,my 12 was an pld fave - Jolene by Dolly Parton

Meet Me In A House Of Love I actually didn't hear until just now, as I wasn't in that contest :o I was getting a bit bored of BJSC and flopping a lot so just didn't bother. It sounds good enough but not that distinguishable from a lot of synth pop entries at the time. From what I know, I'd have picked Bad 4 U by Tanika for the win. A HUGE pop song and the dubstep chorus works so well.

Derniere danse is a favourite winner of mine, I only gave it 10 at the time looking at the thread but Pav's hosting fell victim to Photobucket so I an't see what I 12d in its place... Looking at the final I can't see any obvious answers other than maybe Take Me Home by Cash Cash, certainly inferior to DD which ended 2014 as one of my top 10 songs of that year. It's so stunning, gorgeously produced with haunting vocals and I agree with it sounding dramatic, it all comes together to produce such an atmosphere as a song. Just lush <3

Artifice is fine for what it is, I like the production and vocals but this sort of song rarely proper hits me. My 12 that month came 24 places lower, Os To by Line for Ashton :drama: I'd say Solo Dancing or Atemlos Durch Die Nacht my fave from that contest now (whilst Os To is fab), at least they did better.

Sissy That Walk is an absolute bop, such a strong contest with songs like Stereotype, Dollhouse, All THem Boys, MTBD and I Can't Stop Drinking Abbout You, all of those would have been my 12 is pretty much any of the contests this posts covers except the Indila one, and yet I could only give ICSDAY a 4 :o My 12 won again though, and deservedly so as it had been AGES since a song like that won BJSC, it got me back into BJSC more knowing that songs like that still had a chance.

Derniere danse is a favourite winner of mine, I only gave it 10 at the time looking at the thread but Pav's hosting fell victim to Photobucket so I an't see what I 12d in its place...

Your 12 in that contest was 'Junat Ja Naiset' by Jenni Vartiainen!

Your 12 in that contest was 'Junat Ja Naiset' by Jenni Vartiainen!

Oh, thanks! That's a fab song too but obviously far inferior to DD
