It's very strange how Selena has seemingly outsold/outpeaked Demi everywhere on her first day except for here. It always happens for some reason that Demi gets higher initial peaks and higher album chart peaks, Demi just has that bigger fanbase here. I wonder what she did so right in the UK compared to Selena.

Both of them are doing impressively, just interesting how the UK is the only place where Demi outperforms Selena on release day.

Any big-ish new releases tomorrow? Chase and Status/Emeli coming tomorrow.

Oh wow! I wonder where that can debut - I'd say low top 30 at a push?

(also, the only other newie that'll impact fully this week that hasn't already been mentioned is The Script - not sure where that'll debut)

Demi has pandered to the UK like no other Disney girl has.

Partly thanks to Simon Cowell's connections from X Factor USA.

She released platinum-certified Up with Olly Murs, who's pretty much a UK-exclusive artist and performed it at the X Factor finale, which is massive promo.

Released #4 peaking Somebody To You with The Vamps, also a UK-exclusive act.

X Factor spammed her old single Skyscraper for an entire season on the show, which saw it re-peaking at #7 in the UK and then it was also covered by Sam Bailey to be the winning single, which went #1.

#3 solo hit Heart Attack got Britain's Got Talent promo thanks to Simon.

Capital also loves her ever since her cover of Ed Sheeran's Give Me Love got 14,272,556 on their YouTube Channel.

She even included it on the Deluxe edition of her album DEMI as ""Give Me Love" (Live at the Capital FM Studios in London, UK / May 30, 2014) (Ed Sheeran cover)", which would've got them some coins too.

And even though it only peaked at #80, she made an entire music video for Remember December, just to release it as a UK-exclusive single.

Feels (!!) seems like it's performing similarly to How Deep is Your Love! It'll be at least as big as My Way at least. It's going to be big holiday song for a lot of people.
Ooh I hope this is a proper return to form for Chase & Status! Their recent output has been alright but not to the level they had been delivering. (Perhaps it's more that the genres they'd been focusing on seemed either outdated/not current or not really my thing)

Definitely makes sense as to how she's built up a bigger UK fanbase when you put it like that, I never knew Remember December was a UK-only single! :o I rewatched all of her videos the other night, Remember December was the one with a few of her Camp Rock co-stars in wasn't it?

Yep, that's the one

90 | Chase & Status - Love Me More (feat. Emeli Sande)

66 | Coldplay & Big Sean - Miracles

38 | Demi Lovato - Sorry Not Sorry

89 | Kesha - Woman

101+ | Lana Del Rey - Summer Bummer (feat. A$AP Rocky & Playboi Carti)

101+ | OneRepublic & SeeB - Rich Love

39 | Selena Gomez - Fetish (feat. Gucci Mane)

101+ | Sinitta - So Macho

54 | The Script - Rain

The Script could go either way really.

There's always this myth (or truth?) that the UK embrace pure pop music more than other countries (including the US), so I guess Demi's music has been more pure pop than Selena's (post Stars Dance). People use this myth to explain why Carly's most successful market seems to be here these days.
Selena seems to generally sell better and have better longevity, like Same Old Love peaked at sth like #81 and still went silver, plus Good For You and Hands To Myself both went gold and It Ain't Me went platinum. Demi has the bigger fanbase I feel but Selena appeals more to the casual buyers so sticks around well.
I just don't think Selena has ever done that much UK promo. Demi, Miley and Ariana have all done plenty of high profile uk tv performances and promo which has helped secure strong fan bases and profiles here.

It is, proper drum & base track and Emelis vocals fit perfectly with it as you'd expect!

Has Ariana done any high profile TV performances though over here? (Barring One Love Manchester)
