Bebe is possibly the most unlikeable queen since Tyra.......... I know there's been the likes of Roxxxy, Milk and Phi Phi but at least they were ridiculous or entertaining, she just has this awful air of superiority that really really puts me off.

Whatever you think of her track record (and without sounding like one of her 15 year old straight girl fans,she was FAR better than Bebe and Shangela in the actual challenges she won alongside them, so would have had those wins "properly" under her belt in a normal series), she has so much charisma, uniqueness, nerve an talent and the career she carved out shows exactly why she IS an All Star. Her look and performance night were both INCREDIBLE too :wub:

 

That jury twist was pretty much unneeded though I feel, this isn't Big Brother and Shangela was robbed of top 2 because they're bitter and then covered it up as "she doesn't need it" :lol: I don't think All Stars or even a normal series should be about who "needs" it as if it's a sympathy vote for a charity case, everyone should fight for it and give it everything like Shangela did absolutely every time. I guess it doesn't matter which of her and Trixie lost as they do have their careers either way but it had to be one of them to win so I'm happy, even if Shangela should have been top 2 with her (and I doubt Trixie would have won then). Kennedy top 2 I suppose was nice for her confidence to feel like she earned that if nothing else. That lipsync though gave me Kenya Michaels vs Latrice teas, Trixie was totally feeling it and giving it, and of course Kennedy is an incredible lipsyncer and performer but there was no need for those flips and cartwheels and god knows what in Wrecking Ball... I'm not sad Shangela didn't win as such, as of course I love Trixie, just a bit pissed that she wasn't top 2 just because of a random last twist.

 

I'm GAGGED though that spoilers were wrong, I read it was a Bebe and Trixie top 2 and a tied win!!!

I'm happy for Trixie but very disappointed that Shangela wasn't picked from the so called jury vote!!!

 

This series as in whole was very bad and poorly executed...bring season 10 ASAP!!!

Not the biggest fan of the jury twist, it completely robbed Shangela of a top two finish when she definitely had the strongest track record of the entire top four. Kennedy going down in herstory as 2nd place seems odd considering she's pretty much the most dull queen from the whole line-up :lol: She probably had the better lip sync of the top two as well to be honest but there was no way they could've given her the crown because she was very lucky to get that far in the first place.

 

Very pleased with a Trixie win though, she's fabulous outside the show and I think she was the best in the Kitty Girl challenge too for this episode so she definitely brought it to the final. Bring on Season 10 :w00t:

Omg thank GOD they didn't pick the winner, like Kennedy wasn't THAT bad and I'd have preferred her to Bebe ofc but it would be the cherry on top of a really messy season if that happened just because "aw bless her she doesn't have her own TV show like Trixie"! Like I said I guess it's nice for her confidence, but like she made the final anyway by coasting lmao is it gonna make THAT much difference for her to do an extra lipsync and lose to Trixie? :lol:

 

This season there was too much stirred up drama near the end, I know they couldn't help Ben self eliminating, but the jury thing was unnecessary really, and Morgan coming back just before the penultimate week when he was obviously going to go home again was also a bit pointless for the sake of drama. We had gag of the season in Ben's elimination, they should have just let us have the Shangela and Trixie top 2 we deserve instead of messing with it again. It became like drag Big Brother, it wasn't about who performed the best (which, no it shouldn't always be about track record because Sasha in season 9 for example KILLED IT in the final lipsyncs and was more than deserving as a winner despite winning less challenges than both Shea and Trinity), it was RuPaul's Best Friend Race :lol: Of course I love the drama as much as the next gay but the jury felt like they didn't know how to pad out the final episode, so they had a new twist. Of course it was the right winner in the end, but Shangela (not to mention Ben but again nobody could help that) would have won had she made top 2, so whilst I adore Trixie more than anything, it is gutting for Shangela to lose for the sake of a silly twist. But they do have their careers anyway, and it's good to have something different to set All Stars apart from a regular series too I suppose. As for bitter jury, I always get annoyed when it happens in BBUS, I guess if it's not happening to you then you can't judge how you would react, but I always say as a player in the Big Brother game who appreciates everything it's about I would vote for who played the best game. And any drag queen worth their salt should respect what Shangela brings to drag, that X Factor that you cannot teach or learn, bags and bags of charisma, and how much she has come on since she was sent home episode 1 in season 2, in the same way. So for it to come down to her sending more people home weakly covered up by "she has the career anyway", is a bit shit. If she has the career anyway, why then vote for Trixie who has a bigger career? :lol:

I wouldn't agree it was very bad as a series, there were some brilliant challenges (Bitchelor, the one today, the Kitty Girls girl group challenge and My Best Squirrelfriend's Dragsmaids Wedding Trip) that meant I enjoyed it, but yep I agree that it was executed in far from the best way! In general the hour episodes were edited messily, like for example the runways were blink and you'll miss it in some cases which was stupid really because obviously a big part of drag is the looks that a queen presents and the way they wear them. Even just 10 more seconds of each queen on the runway would be fine, you barely got to see the looks properly with a walk for a couple of episodes. If they could be an hour for some episodes, I don't see why all of them couldn't be, or at least like 50 mins even would be better because like I said, even just an extra 10 seconds or so of each queen on the runway for those shorter episodes would be fab.

 

In Drag Race Thailand, there's a little format tweak I love in regards to that, they have a runway winner and a main challenge winner separately if the challenge is something like acting or comedy rather than runway (they did the curtain one from Season 2 and just had one winner, for example). It makes the runways just as important, for example someone last week stormed the main challenge and won, but had a hideous runway wearing a tacky cheerleading outfit and ended up lipsyncing for her life because of it which was DRAMA. And again, because of the hour episodes, there's enough time to show them all.

 

Overall, a good ish series but marred by a few things for sure and not as strong as AS2. AS1 had a similar feel of being a bit rushed and lacklustre at times, with the f***ing awful pairs twist also which robbed Manilla, Pandora and Nina who could have really done much better and perhaps challenged Chad, whereas imo AS2 felt essential each episode and the right pace, with by far the best cast of the three.

I actually think the twists have ruined this series and having Trixie and Kennedy as the final 2nos laughable considering how poor they have been this season.

 

 

kennedy would be in with a good shot of winning if ONLY she could act a bit better and lipsync a bit better (amazing performer but she is the queen of word salad), because as a queen she is f***ing HILARIOUS and is great at pageant-polish drag, and is a bit messy as a person too which is great reality TV.

I don’t even think she’s untalented. She’s had a decent enough run and would have been a good top 3. (Behind Shangela and Bendela) But realistically she never really popped on the show, even on the tasks she won, bar some nice runways. But yes, she was always going to win. I feel like VH1 plays up to what the younger, more vocal fans want more than the show used to.

 

It’s funny that a twist of a lip gimmick won the queen the crown in the last season and this season a twist gave a queen he crown that’s lost every single lip sync she’s done.

I love Trixie and would have been over the moon with second place, but anyone other than Shangela winning is ridiculous. I actually think this hurts Trixie more than anything.

That jury twist won't happen again, awful. This entire series has been limp and disappointing, I hope they take a longer break before the next one because All Stars 2 was incredible. I actually don't think it was rigged for Trixie to win, but wouldn't be surprised if the eliminated queens considered her fanbase with their choice.

 

Kennedy getting second place is almost Roxxxy levels of no. She also looked like Trixie's backing dancer for the majority of the lip-sync.

All the twists this season have been bad really though and Ben self-eliminating highlighted that as part of the reason is she knew it was bullsh!t to eliminate one of the top 5 and bring back one of the bottom 5.

 

Similarly this jury twist eliminated the other strongest contestant this series in Shangela making Allstars 3 actually seem like a big joke.

Trixie won two challenges you can hardly place her in the same category as Kennedy for being undeserving of top 2... I hate the criticism of "she lost lipsyncs" because let's be real they basically fixed Bebe's win, plus I'd rather have the comic talent of Trixie in a queen than being a bit better at a lipsync. I agree she didn't have that amazing wow moment like Shangela's lipsync or most things DeLa did, but her only really bad week was Snatch Game, which admittedly was a misstep and should have been her challenge with how funny she is. She should have done her Jinkx Monsoon :lol: But anyways, just because Shangela didn't win doesn't make Trixie shit. I do think even as a huge fan she is a better queen off the show on her terms than on it, but she did won two challenges she just didn't win the lip syncs. It's not like she did a Roxxy and then won :lol:

Out of the 'top' 4 then yes Trixie was maybe deserving of her place in the top 2, however lets be honest Ben and Shangela run this series and both will be remembered for what they did than Trixie who was basically handed the win due to the twist.

I hope for AS4 they have something different as the big twist of the season (as in AS1 having teams and AS2/3 having lipsync for your legacy instead of life), I'm not sure what but I liked the rumours before this season that alumni (icr if it was supposed to be winners or just alumni) would be like a guest head judge and they coach each week and decide the bottom and who goes. They certainly better not do a jury again anyway :lol: It ofc works as a concept to lipsync for your legacy and you get some amazing lipsyncs with the best of the best lipsyncing, but when it comes to the fact that Shangela was basically penalised for being the best of the 4 at lipsyncing and performing songs, it's a bit ridiculous. I guess it'll be fine having it again without the jury but it'd be good to change it up a bit again.

Yeah, I don't think Trixie is the worst winner we could have an I actually feel kind of sorry for her today because so much of the drag race alumni seem to be saying "justice for Shangela", and there's loads of articles about how the fans aren't happy etc, which can't be nice when you've just won and want to celebrate. I think people would have found it easier to swallow if Shangela and Trixie were top 2 and Ru chose from those two, so it feels somewhat rigga morris that Shangela was pushed out of the top two by a very...odd and nonsensical twist. It makes you wonder if it was done by the producers so that Ru had to choose Trixie, who is kind of a figurehead for the show from her amazing work outside of it. Now I do think Trixie did well in the show, she was better than Roxxy for example, but I don't think she did that much better than Kennedy (who I like a lot too). The two challenges Trixie was top 2 for were two of the most underwhelming challenges of the season.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, I don't understand the need to give Trixie a crown for what are essentially off-show achievements when it never translates into anything particularly noteworthy on-show. She is devoured by the format; her performance this season was middling, she was lip synced into oblivion... but there's already a Pop figure with her name on it (pretty much the only distinguishing feature since they all look the f***ing same) so I guess she needs the clout of being a winner despite the fact that all the clout she has was gained away from the show?

 

Like, it's whatever. Good for her for having carved a massive career for herself independent of Drag Race. It shouldn't be a reason (along with surviving production stunts) to win Drag Race. She didn't need this win, and she certainly didn't deserve it either.
