I must be in the minority at feeling indifferent about SKO. It's by no means bad but GA have better.

05. No Good Advice // 8.74

Into the top 5 now and they're all flawless pop masterpieces. 'No Good Advice' was the second single from Girls Aloud and the follow-up to the mega debut smash 'Sound Of The Underground'. If people weren't expecting that as the winner's single from a reality TV band, they certainly weren't expecting this as the follow-up, which cemented Girls Aloud as a force to be reckoned with in British 00's pop. It gave them a #2 hit, their first of many to frustratingly miss out on the top spot. The video is notoriously hated by the band, mostly due to the silver space suits they were sporting.

Untouchable in its single version form is firmly mid-table for me - the structure & vocoder usage isn't great. On the other hand the album version is a glorious & special moment. I loathe the music video. Girls Aloud travelling through space in hamster balls, hurtling towards earth? Delete it!

Rather surprised that No Good Advice is this high, but I'm not mad about this outcome! It's a really electrifying bop. No Good Advice (and Sound of the Underground) sounded like nothing else out there in 2003, it was an incredibly fresh sound and so exciting. I was an immediate fan from Popstars The Rivals, but No Good Advice really cemented my love for them, I firmly believed there was something very special about them. Also, No Good Advice was the first mp3 I ever downloaded (illegally)! ;o

'The Loving Kind' seems a bit too high here! I like the Pet Shop Boys influence and the "I'd do anything..." part is lush, but the rest of the song feels quite underwhelming compared to so much in their repertoire. On the other hand, 'Something Kinda Ooooh' feels quite a bit too low  what an absolutely electrifying song. An instant pick me up <3 the release of that and the accompanying greatest hits was probably the peak of my GA stanning, I can't imagine how many times I played that album!

'Untouchable' was an INSTANT standout the first time I listened to 'Out Of Control', I was over the moon that it was chosen as a single  The radio edit was definitely inferior with the vocoder but doesn't detract from the song enough to completely ruin it or anything.

'No Good Advice' was THE song that got me into Girls Aloud *.* I definitely remember SOTU on the radio at the time but I wasn't that into music at such a young age haha, it took me until about 2004 to get into them. Anyway, 'No Good Advice' was on a karaoke CD I had at the time and I would always gravitate to it - I think it was the lyrics that I found quite intriguing! It (along with 'Wake Me Up') soon had the ultimate honour of being embedded on the jades-kool-website.piczo.com homepage aaaand I begged my friend to let me borrow her copy of Now 55 so I could have 'No Good Advice' on my iPod at the time. I don't quite stan it as much as I did like 10 years ago (it 'only' got a 9 from me :kink:) but I do still love it and appreciate its feistiness.

'Sexy! No No No...' still to come omg

Untouchable should be #1. After listening to all their singles I'd rate it above 'Biology'. One of a kind euphoria right there.

04. Sexy! No No No... // 8.86

WHAT. A. SONG! Xenomania really went to town with 'Sexy! No No No...", offering an unusual structure (intro, chorus, chorus, verse, bridge, chorus, middle eight, verse) & incredibly catchy hooks from start to finish. It was certainly a quirky & daring choice to launch their Tangled Up album era. 'Sexy!' received its premiere in July 2007 - yes, it really has been 10 years since this song stormed into our lives. In September it became their 13th Top 5 hit, peaking at #5 (remember when we had to wait around 6 weeks for a song to be released? :drama: ). Sexy! was also used as the opening song of the

to dramatic effect, with the girls suspended on wires and wearing billowing black cloaks. Finishing in a very respectable 4th place, it seems most of us are more "HELL YEAH!" than "no no no..." when it comes to 'Sexy!'. I'd also say that this is one of their best music videos. *.*

Christ I remember waking up early for the radio premiere of this after not long finishing my GCSEs! It was love from first listen, the intro still gives me the tingles it did then. And that tour opening perf, truly a *.* moment!
YESSSS!!! 'Sexy...' is an all time bop! It's so, SO good. One of the very best girl band singles, for sure! I think I listened to the radio premiere too and remember being blown away by it! It's held up incredibly well and sounds so fresh to this day!
