I think 'On My Mind' did about the minimum of what you'd expect from a lead Ellie single considering how MASSIVE her star was before she released it, and it caused the album's underperformance which in turn lead to where we are now.

It's utterly woeful as well.

I low-key find Delirium such a guilty pleasure to listen to, it’s still as listenable now as it was back in 2015 for me! I feel like this era is make-or-break for her even though Delirium performed decently (it might’ve even sold 450k+ with a re-release) but the gap has been quite long.

She’s been teasing EG4 all year so something better materialise soon.

i absolutely concur LOL. if she was more concerned about the roots of her music than the roots of her hair she might have got somewhere!!!!

Omg!

I largely went off Ellie after 'Burn' was released with 'Something in the Way You Move' being one of the few songs I enjoyed from her since. I can't really see her turning it around quality-wise with her next single; she does seem too concerned with being a celebrity than she is making interesting music and that makes it hard to want to back her.

On My Mind is absolutey terrible, not sure the last time I was so disappointed by a song. I still haven’t listened to Delirium despite Halycon being one of the best albums of the past few years for me.
Omg!

This is largely in part the problem I have. For someone who was a massive fan for her debut, Halcyon/Halcyon Days just did nothing but kill my love for her material. Delirium clawed it back massively but I think the damage for me had already been done by then  the constant celeb lifestyle and putting off EG4 is draining all hype imo.

I loved On My Mind! I think Lost & Found should’ve been the lead tbh

Agreed! Lost & Found is pretty much the only song from Delirium I listen to these days.

Omg!

That is 100% false

But it isn’t. All I’ve seen of her is advertisements and endorsements and the last new song I remember was First Time. Unless I’ve missed it has she done anything since or worth mentioning?
Do people consider On My Mind as the lead though? Up until right now I figured Love Me Like You Do was used/seen as the lead single which kind of explained why OMM wasn't that big.

It definitely was. LMLYD was a soundtrack single that happened almost a year previously, and was tacked onto the album as a bonus track.

I can think of many singers who appear on TV or advertise some kind of product.. doesn't mean they're obsessed with wanting to be a celebrity. How many 'celebrities' do so much to try help the planet, performs concerts with all earnings going to Homeless charities and spends Christmas with the homeless?

I don't get this too concerned with being a celebrity thing? She isn't really part of celebrity culture, you don't see a ton of her in magazines or doing reality shows or inviting the media into her home?

Yes she has done endorsements but which singer hasn't?

yes, everybody does commercials and endorsements, thats normal

don't get the general hate x her personality :/

How am I hating when about half a dozen posts up I was saying I loved some of her material but disliked her approach? Just because she’s done two years of charity shows doesn’t detract from the fact if she spent less time advertising and more time recording she might actually have an album. Several artists do so much fundraising but don’t post about it. Look at Adele with Grenfell for example.
actually I prefer when artists take time and don't rush things, that's why most sophomore albums suck, cos the labels put too much pressure to have something quick and the result is disappointing most of the time, you cannot rush inspiration, and it's not like the album would have come 1 year earlier cos she did a 1 morning photo shoot, I think it's a pretty silly comment tbh

Yeah and she said in a guardian article she was going to go away for ages then does features and soundtracks like wtf

But EG4 is supposedly finished tho???
