I'd prefer P!nk but her streaming sales are unlikely to be enough at this stage

I'm backing Pink but I'm unsure if she'll get it.

 

Its a shame V fest isn't this weekend as that'd be great promo for her

I think Dua will do it so I voted for her. I don''t really have a preference out of the songs, I love both!

Hope Pink gets it, but she won't. She's probably selling about 1k a day more on iTunes than Dua Lipa (and the gap is closing), but is waaaay behind on Spotify.

The fact that she's on course of getting her first biggest solo hit post-album release and after the mess of roll-out it (her self-titled debut album) had is a huge achievement in my opinion.

Would be happy with either.

 

A female singer cracking the top 5 is incredible nowadays so an all female top 2 would be a shocker.

Dua. It'd be lovely either way and its fab we have a chart battle between two solo females on our hands, but New Rules edges it as a song.

 

(shame Taylor Shit is releasing Friday, id have loved a week for Pink then a week for Dua)

Is Taylor confirmed? If so then potentially 3 of the top 5 occupied by solo females? Would be nice.

I'm probably a little biased due to it being so recent but I'm feeling like if 'New Rules' does get to #1 it might be my favourite #1 single since 'Hideaway'. (There are other songs since then that I probably liked more at the time but have had time to get old - maybe 'House Every Weekend' for example - but 'New Rules' seems like the kind of song that is going to hold up as a great #1 in my mind in the long run in the same way 'Hideaway' has). #1 hits in general over the last few years have been either not very good at all in the first place or DECENT but not really very unique and quickly killed a bit by hearing them too much. 'New Rules' definitely feels like it has more to it than most of them.

 

(I'm not saying that about all chart music of the last few years, there have been plenty of really good top 5/10 hits in that timeframe (hell I like 'Unforgettable' even more than 'New Rules' for a very recent example), it's just that #1s in particular have been a bit meh for quite some time).

 

Now I've said that it's gonna end up being blocked by P!nk's distinctly average song :lol: but I hope not ~

Certainly wanting it to be Dua this week! Incredible song, and it'd be such an against-the-odds achievement for her. Would be happy for Pink to climb to #1 at some other point though!

I went for Pink - just because I really love her as an artist, her back catalogue is incredible and I really like 'What About Us'.

I'm praying P!nk can make #1. It's great to see a woman in her late thirties who's almost 20 years into her career doing well, even if she isn't one of my personal faves lol, and hopefully (but highly unlikely) it will show people (*cough* Radio 1 *cough*) that established female pop acts shouldn't be written off as soon as they turn 30!
