Artwork:

Nadia_Ali_Rapture.jpg

Rate average: 7.64

Best score: 11/10 (Alpha), 10/10 (danG, gavindeejay, Tawdry Hepburn, Cucumberella), 9/10 (mdh, HarryEzra)

Worst score: 0/10 (cqmerqn)

Release date: 03/02/2010

UK Chart peak: #40

Album: non-album single (Avicii) / Queen of Clubs Trilogy (Ali)

Video:

Biography:

Nadia Ali re-released the song as a single from her remix compilation Queen of Clubs Trilogy. Released as the only single from the compilation, it was remixed by Avicii, Gareth Emery and Tristan Garner. Ali said she chose the three to remix the track because they were considered tastemakers in electronic dance music. She said she also chose to re-release the track because she wanted to introduce it to a new generation of music listeners who were not familiar with the original iiO version.

Commentary:

This is a really good remix that stands out in Avicii's discography for me, as he managed to turn a club classic into something for the 2010s and in my opinion is also a vast improvement from the original. Good to see it make the top 10 as it's one of the songs I rated a 10/10.

A bop for sure and one I used to love more but in reality the instrumental is the same handful of notes repeated throughout the song... Nadia's vocals make it great though! :music:
Sorry I completely forgot to vote in this!! Just caught up on the results now anyway and I'm pleased that 'Rapture' has snuck into the top 10 as it's my favourite song that Avicii has been involved with  'You Make Me' is also sublime so that to win x

Fade Into Darkness is a fantastic, scream at the top of your lungs type of track. Majorly superior to Collide so agreed glad it's finished higher!

Love My Feelings For You too  one I revisit a lot, really stands out in his discography - another one that sadly just missed the top 40.

Was never a huge fan of that Rapture remix, it's just so limp in comparison with the iio original.

The production on that 'Rapture' remix is SO sublime. Such a world away from the stuff he ended up doing by 2015.

09. "You Make Me"

Rate average: 7.69

Best score: 10/10 (BridgeCow, mdh), 9/10 (Dexton, danG, Spadz, gavindeejay, gooddelta, Pete)

Worst score: 0/10 (Cucumberella)

Release date: 30/08/2013

UK Chart peak: #5

Album: True

Video:

Biography:

"You Make Me" is a song written and recorded by Swedish DJ, remixer and record producer Avicii and Swedish musician and singer Salem Al Fakir in collaboration with Swedish songwriter Vincent Pontare and producer Arash Pournouri. It was produced for Avicii's debut studio album, True and appears as the second track on the album. The song was released as the second single from True on 30 August 2013 as a follow-up to "Wake Me Up". The single made its worldwide debut on BBC Radio 1's The Pete Tong Show on 16 August.

Commentary:

The entire top 10 is so good so whilst 9th seems very low for this, it's actually a reasonable position when you compare it to other songs of his. "You Make Me" was released as the difficult follow-up single to "Wake Me Up", and he could have easily got it so wrong but then again he is God Avicii so he brought us another proper banger. It didn't perform all that well in comparison to WMU or third single HB worldwide but it did go top five in the UK - the only place it peaked higher was Sweden where it went to #1, because of course it did. I think it's very underrated in real life but fortunately it seems to be remembered fondly on Buzzjack.

You Make Me slaying *.* (should be top 5 tho!) The vocals are such a highlight.

08. "Silhouettes"

Rate average: 8.03

Best score: 10/10 (Spadz, Dobbo, Cucumberella, Alpha), 9/10 (lewistgreen, Dexton, danG, BridgeCow, jafetsigfinns, gooddelta)

Worst score: 1/10 (cqmerqn)

Release date: 27/04/2012

UK Chart peak: #22

Album: non-album single

Video:

Biography:

"Silhouettes" is a song by Swedish house producer and DJ Avicii featuring vocals from Swedish singer Salem Al Fakir. The track was first released on 27 April 2012 in the United Kingdom. It had previously been leaked on the internet in early 2011, albeit with a different song pitch. Some music blogs erroneously posted "Flash" by Tatana and Scaloni.

Commentary:

And coincidentally (or not) the two songs with vocals by Salem Al Fakir finish next to each other, but it seems you have decided the first of these "Silhouettes" is slightly better. Just as "You Make Me" followed up the mega-hit that was "Wake Me Up", this was the follow-up to one of Avicii's career-defining hits "Levels". Sadly it missed the UK top 20 but it spent five weeks in the top 40 across three separate runs which is quite a feat in itself, and was also within the top 200 best sellers of the year. It's quite a bit toned down from the euphoricness of "Levels" but is nonetheless another amazing song, and was perhaps the first sign of Avicii moving in style from club bangers to dance-pop radio ready hits.

07. "Addicted To You"

Artwork:

Avicii_-_Addiced_To_You.jpg

Rate average: 8.06

Best score: 11/10 (HarryEzra), 10/10 (lewistgreen, Dexton), 9.5/10 (Spadz, mdh), 9/10 (danG, BridgeCow, jafetsigfinns, Alpha, Pete, Mack)

Worst score: 1/10 (cqmerqn)

Release date: 13/09/2013 (alongside 'True') / 27/11/2013 (single release)

UK Chart peak: #14

Album: True

Video:

Biography:

"Addicted to You" is a song by Swedish producer Avicii, incorporating uncredited vocals by American folk-rock recording artist Audra Mae. The track was written by Avicii, Ash Pournouri, Mac Davis and Josh Krajcik for making appearance on Avicii's debut studio album, True (2013), with it being later released as its fourth single. "Addicted to You" first premiered to Australian radio on 27 November 2013; a digital single of "Addicted to You" remixes was released on 11 March 2014.

Commentary:

The 'True' songs start dropping out, and we are now left with just his two biggest hits from that album in contention. "Addicted To You" is the shortest song of Avicii's career to date, at a runtime of just 2:28 although the music video is roughly a minute longer. However this doesn't detract from the song, its length does work to its advantage. The song may lack a drop but we do get a short climax at the end and great production throughout. The vocalist Audra Mae appears on a number of Avicii album tracks but to date this is the only single with her on it. I would also highly recommend Avicii's own remix of this where he transforms it into a club banger.

You Make Me is great, always preferred that to Wake Me Up & still do!

LOVE Silhouettes, in his top 5 for me. I play that more than Levels these days but that's just because you hear Levels everywhere.

Addicted To You is extremely weak by his standards. Good to switch it up though & a wise choice of release that late in the era.

06. "Wake Me Up"

Rate average: 8.11

Best score: 11/10 (awardinary), 10/10 (Dexton, danG, Spadz, gavindeejay, jafetsigfinns, mdh, gooddelta), 9/10 (Mack)

Worst score: 0/10 (cqmerqn)

Release date: 17/06/2013

UK Chart peak: #1

Album: True

Biography:

"Wake Me Up" (stylised as "WAKE ME UP!") is a song by Swedish DJ and electronic music producer Avicii, released as the lead single from his debut studio album True, released on CD and cassette by PRMD Music, Lava Records and Sony Music's Columbia Records on June 17, 2013. American soul singer Aloe Blacc provides vocals for the track and Mike Einziger of Incubus provides acoustic guitar. Avicii introduced "Wake Me Up!" for the first time live on stage at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami. The experimental rendering (it was accompanied by a live band with instruments and vocalists, including Blacc, Einziger and Incubus members Ben Kenney on bass and José Pasillas on drums) reportedly confused and angered a section of the electronic dance festival community. Subsequently, Avicii achieved critical and commercial success with the release of the single worldwide.

"Wake Me Up" peaked at number one in much of Europe and charted well in various countries. The song has been described as a "summer anthem" by Variance Magazine and, throughout the 2013 festival season, Avicii included it as part of the opening or closing sequence of his sets at EDC Las Vegas, EDC London, Tomorrowland, Creamfields, Electric Zoo and the iTunes Festival. Due to the success of the song, Blacc later released an acoustic version of "Wake Me Up" in his solo EP Wake Me Up. It was also released as a promotional stand-alone single on Interscope Records, made available online for downloads via iTunes. A separate music video was also made. The Blacc single also charted in its own right in various charts.

Commentary:

Surprisingly "Wake Me Up" does not make the top five (the actual f*ck people?!?) but it does get high marks from a lot of people. "Wake Me Up" is undeniably the biggest song of Avicii's career, going to #1 in too many countries to list as well as going three times platinum in the UK for combined streams and sales of over 1.8 million units, and the music video receiving over 1.3 billion views on YouTube (over 1.6bn when you combine the official and lyric videos). It is one of my all-time favourite songs and my second-favourite Avicii song ever after "Levels". Everything about it is just perfect. What a song.

Let's look at the top five:

xx Hey Brother

xx I Could Be The One (with Nicky Romero)

xx Levels

xx Seek Bromance (as Tim Berg)

xx Waiting For Love

Which of these will score a rate average of over 9? Which of these will be crowned the winner? Find out tomorrow.

The problem for me with Wake Me Up is that is was just SO overexposured at the time (and for an entire year after) it's lost its charm permanently. It's still a great song of course but I would never actively play it, at least compared with the majority of his singles. I'm very surprised it finished behind Hey Brother though!

That is an outstanding top 5 right there  my 11 & three of my four 10s all present.

I expect Levels will take the win just as it did in the Least Fave polls.

Agree about Wake Me Up's exposure, I loved it at the time but it just has never clicked with me quite the same as it did, it's still really good though

wtf!!!

The others missing out on the top 5 were pretty predictable though.

05. "Waiting For Love"

Rate average: 8.47

Best score: 11/10 (mdh), 10/10 (danG, Dobbo, BridgeCow, Harry, Pete, Mack), 9/10 (lewistgreen, Spadz)

Worst score: 2/10 (Tawdry Hepburn)

Release date: 22/05/2015

UK Chart peak: #6

Album: Stories

Video:

Biography:

"Waiting for Love" is a song by Swedish DJ and music producer Avicii, produced by Avicii and Dutch producer Martin Garrix, and featuring uncredited vocals from Simon Aldred, the lead singer of Cherry Ghost. The track was released on 22 May 2015 as the lead single from Avicii's second studio album Stories (2015). The lyrics were also written by Aldred.

Commentary:

Avicii came back in the best way possible to officially start the 'Stories' era, though not really a comeback as he had just had a big hit with "The Nights". "Waiting For Love" was an instant fave for me and now ranks in my top five Avicii songs, it also ranks here at number five in the overall Buzzjack list.
