  • Updated sales here: Too Lost In You over half a mil to become their third biggest seller. Round Round just under the half mil at 499k

  • Stronger, Shape, In The Middle, Caught in a Moment and Red Dress should all be above Get Sexy! That whole Sweet 7 era needs erasing tbh. 🧙‍♀️

  • Some estimates for future certifications! Too Lost in You - Platinum - 600,000 - March 2026 Push the Button - 2xPlatinum - 1,200,000 - July 2026 Round Round - Platinum - 600,000 - September 2027 Abou

Surprising it’s longevity given it’s lowly chart position

Completely! As their third biggest seller, its #10 peak is very misleading. :o

On another note - and in the event that anyone's interested  - I came across some of their worldwide sales on the ChartMasters database:

Overloaded: The Singles Collection

Brazil (1,500 units)

Portugal (10,000 units - as of 2008)

Angels With Dirty Faces

South Korea (8,801 units)

I keep meaning to compile all of their non-UK stats as I find their worldwide presence to be so fascinating.

They really were a force worldwide, especially during the Angels, Three and Taller era's. Those were the days where I didn't have that much internet access yet (more so during Taller, but not much in the first two era's) so I didn't really know what was happening in the UK scene and only knew what was on the telly, radio and the teen pop magazines and there were in there all the time. They were so big over here and everyone knew them.

That's so lovely to hear. I always remember In The Middle outpeaking its UK position on one of the Dutch charts (and being absolutely ecstatic ) and being so impressed by their European presence. I wish we had more non-UK statistics.

I just looked it up and they had nine top 10 hits here, strangly enough Freak Like Me and About You Now didn't. In The Middle indeed did very well, yeah. Basically everything between Round Round and In The Middle went top 10.

Looking at its worldwide performance, Freak Like Me did okay - nothing special at all. Strange, given how massive it was in the UK. Perhaps it was a bit of a shock to the system, especially in Europe where One Touch was even bigger than it was in the UK? Or maybe that sound just wasn't as popular outside the UK? Round Round really turned things... round () for them in terms of their worldwide presence.

On another note, here I go promoting this amazing account again!

Fantastic achievement for Overload! But annoying that the 20 Year Remaster isn't linked with the original version. It'll lose some exposure on Spotify thanks to this oversight.

I think a lot of it has to do with Island focusing on the UK market with Freak Like Me for obvious reasons. They needed a proper big hit in the UK to lead the Angels campaign.

One Touch going Platinum is so close and yet so far. People need to stream it!
I wouldn't say it's so close - it's still ~70k off. That's a lot for a 20+ year old studio album that's not exactly being streamed. Even a generous 5k a year would make it take 14 years to get there
It will get there at some point but I can’t see it happening before they’re all 50

I mean, ALL albums will eventually make it to the million mark as long as streaming platforms are open, but I'm just not sure any of us will still be alive by then

Hi everyone. A quick update for you all! :)

After some gentle nudging, BPI have finally updated Catfights' certification to Gold. It had previously been stuck at Silver, despite crossing 100k in 2009.

https://www.bpi.co.uk/award/1233-402-2

Odd that Catfights didn't get included in the mass update from 2013, but from what I can tell it was certified in early 2009 but for whatever reason BPI forgot to put it on their page... mess.
