Sadly the £2.99 offer in HMV ended this week. :( It's back to being included in the 2 for £10 deal though.

    Sadly I don't think any of their studio albums will reach those targets any time soon. To the point we might not see it happen until the 2040s, lol, unless a reunion gives their music a very impactful

So people can buy two Greatest Hits alberms and contribute to sales ayyeee :arrr:

Sad the 2.99 deal has ended but thanks to it and some great xmas sales it's a case of when not if the GH goes double platinum this year.
Hopefully it wont sink without a trace. It is hanging on ok on itunes, although yes I am aware that this means f*** all lol
It is a shame it if falling but there is nothing to keep it afloat. The 2.99 offer stopped and the girls seemingly gone into hiding.

Greatest Hits -

Out of the Album Downloads Chart

#55 in the Album Sales Chart

#53 in the Physical Albums Chart

Spice has left the Vinyl Albums Chart Top 40

Greatest Hits has now sold 569,633, including 1,542 this week.

570,000 is a big jump from the 300 odd thousand they sold back in 2007, really pleased the GH has continued to be a fairly consistent seller.
It's always good for acts to have an easily available g hits as they continue to sell in small numbers over long periods.

Yup. While they're not necessarily "big business" like they used to be before people could pick and download/stream whatever they like, they still sell in moderate amounts to people wanting to check out artists catalogues.

It is the continuous sales over long periods that now make Greatest Hits releases a success as they dont draw the big numbers like they once did.

That said, Take That managed 100,000 + opening sales of their recent Greatest Hits and managed one of the highest weekly sales of the year.

In recent times we see such sets from Bob Marley, Abba, Fleetwood Mac, Queen sell continuously.

Taking out the recent film releases Abba and Queen were still chart regulars with their Greatest Hits sets.

Take that did do a concert bundle though.

The GH will be double plat by the time the tour rolls round and it's becoming a bit of an iconic album.

I remember a lot of fans were annoyed at the cover not being a pic of them but the cover is perfect. 11 years on it doesnt look dated and it still stands out. Would look amazing on a vinyl.

All it needs to do now is sell an average of 1000 copies for the next 30 weeks... quick, someone get Gerita to show her tits for publicity!

I agree I think the cover has aged great, but then I always liked it back in the day too.

It is selling 1k a week now but I expect it to rise as we get closer to the tour. People going to the gigs will be streaming it or buying it in the lead up. The girls will also be in the UK rehearsing and no doubt doing bits of promo. I'm sure it will go double platinum before the tour starts.

The cover of the Greatest Hits is the least of its problems, I actually quite like it and yes I am glad that it is getting some recognition that failed to get the first time around. Almost doubling its original sales is a great position to be in and hope it will carry on selling beyond this phase.

Just wish they would re-package it with content that is beyond the hits and more interesting stuff like unreleased songs, new mixes, etc. Maybe a vinyl editon as well would have been super nice. They could totally do a HMV-limited edition or something like that, which could be quite cute, appeal to their immediate fan base as well as the occasional buyer without loosing money.

^ I know I keep saying it but I will asap! I just haven't felt in the mood to do it yet unfortunately.

~~~
Greatest Hits fell to #130 this week, it sold 1,062. It's now on 570,694 sales. I'm really impatient for it to sell 600k+, but at this rate it will take another 6 months to get there (and it's probably going to sell less over the coming weeks). Presumably the sales will increase a lot during the tour though, so hopefully it will manage double platinum by then.
Greatest Hits is #90 in the Sales Chart this week, and #93 in the Physical Chart.
