I really think releasing all the songs before the album turned out to be a poor idea.

I understand it was meant to help with pre sales but it didn’t really work . Releasing one track per week after the albums release could have worked better ?

One of the above needs a radio release.

Yeah I think that would have been a much better strategy!

I just hope Crave goes to radio here and helps the album out abit...

I completely agree and said this when it was announced! Apparently it's necessary to "build hype" but I really don't see how she can do much worse than 27k. Plus the tracks she released weren't exactly the best the album had to offer and probably turned more people off checking it out than anything. It would be interesting to see how it performed if she had released those three instead! I don't know who thinks a Quavo feature (on a horrible song at that) will appeal to Madonna fans or album buyers. I'm assuming to bump up streaming numbers but it's the completely wrong approach, at least Kylie realises she still has strong physical sales and makes sure to maximise that for every release lol

I have the standard and blue cassette lol

I had though the album would be showing in the Top 100 midweek chart this week but sadly its not there.

Madame X actually slipped out of the Top 200 last week, despite being #162 on the Thursday midweeks. It's currently re-entering at #196 but no doubt it'll be gone by Friday.

Oh well. It's good job I wanted interesting material over chart success. But still.

I too am happy we got an album that was exciting and interesting but it's chart performance is a reflection of how it was just left to die. Don't get me wrong, we received a very generous amount of top quality videos and, for that, I am very grateful, but the lack of performances and no songs being sent to UK radio following the album release was pretty disappointing. The music on this album is so good and deserves to be heard.

I had this discussion with one of my good IRL friends who is a massive fan, I said they're mishandling the project by releasing all the promo tracks they did pre-album and letting all the interest/momentum just fizzle out as a result. He was convinced their long-term plan was to make it into a proper lengthy album campaign after the album was out, but I knew they wouldn't. It's a shame as the most interesting/exciting stuff has just been tucked away on the album.

At least the 'God Control' video has been a real high point I suppose.

To be honest I was guilty of thinking we'd get more from Madonna over the summer. I should have known better knowing that the tour starts in September as she always puts everything into the rehearsals. I quite enjoyed the pre-release stuff, it was quite fun having a new track nearly each Friday and we've had a generous selection of top quality videos which will be the main thing I take away from the era other than the music itself. It's just a shame we didn't get much in the way of live performances. :(

I really think this would’ve worked as a visual album tbh.

She obviously wasn’t gonna get a big single due to the ageism and the streaming take over but I think the album could’ve sold had it been a visual one.

I agree with the promo choices too.

Madonna is an icon and a legend BUT i feel like the tracks what have been better received have been the feature less tracks.

I get why most of the pre album singles had features on them as they’re streaming friendly artists but to do a track like Future at Eurovision with Quavo of all people who looked like he didn’t even want to be there!

God Control would’ve been a better launch for the album with Come Alive or I Don’t Search I Find the second single.

Still waiting for an official 3:30 radio edit of God Control. This would sound great in public but it's just too long for the average listener

It's the smash that never was :(
