If you look at previous years the show got huge, international names like Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Elton John, Paul McCartney etc.

The names this year are on the whole nowhere near that calibre, some big, current names but not many long-term, huge, established acts.

But two things to take in to consideration - 1) The X Factor was a much bigger show back then. 2) The songs were released just before/ just after the Sunday performance so it made prfect business sense.

I totally agree there are a lack of huge international stars these days, but these acts also pick and choose where they perform a lot more. I think in terms of British talent they have done pretty well this year.

To be fair a lot of these names you’ve mentioned haven’t even got any new material to promote with the exception of probably Taylor and Katy.

Do they not have acts perform with stars anymore in the semi final?

That happens in the final, they still do it!

Sam Smoth and Ed Sheeran are HUGE international names though. They already counter balance The Weeknd and Bruno Mars appearances last year... with P!nk being rumoured that's another name to potentially add.

And Little Mix are the biggest draw the XF have right now. Their performance last year increased dwindling ratings by a good million iirc.

I don't see the problem with PRETTYMUCH tbh. Like someone else said, it's no different to when XF had Fifth Harmony on that one time... beyond the huge fans, no one in the UK knew who they were. So of course Simon is gonna use the biggest possible opportunity to show people his latest act...

XF is still pretty much the best place to push a single now, nowhere near the level it was but still one of the best promotional shows.

I'm not talking about those specific names but the calibre of those names. Little Mix are big but ive seen them perform live on tv shows or televised concerts maybe 6 or 7 times in the last 12 months, Stormzy has performed Blinded By Your Grace on several shows in the last couple of months, seeing them perform live isn't special or an event.

They could have got Adele, Liam or Noel Gallagher, Coldplay etc, longshots I admit but you have to aim high.

Hopefully Taylor will still be performing on the final and just hasn't been confirmed yet!

Or what if Ed drops the Perfect remix tonight on X-Factor which turns out to feature Taylor & they perform End Game after. (This is way more wishful thinking than actually thinking it'll happen )

Little Mix have actually been quite absent from UK television in the past 12 months. Since last year’s X Factor finale they’ve only been on TV 3 times if I remember correctly. Once for the Brits, once for One Love Manchester and once on that new show that I can’t remember the name of buy they just aired a song from their tour. On all of those occasions they performed a single that was at least a couple months old at the time, they were never there to promote anything. I think that because they came from the X Factor and they’ve done the finale the past two years there’s this idea that it’s not a big deal. They’re still one of the biggest pop acts in the game right now. If they’re using this opportunity to launch a new single from the re-release then I’d say that qualifies as a big event.

That happens in the final, they still do it!

I see thanks!

I think part of the issue people have with the performers in recent years is that they seem like acts that The X Factor can really easily get hold of. A lot of the time, they are acts that are on Simon's label like Little Mix or the 1D guys or people who have been associated with Simon/The X Factor like Rita Ora. It's not so much a case of the performers not being huge and popular, because they clearly are, but more that it doesn't take much negotiations. Acts like Whitney, Mariah, Britney, Rihanna, Elton etc. feel that bit more 'untouchable' or 'unreachable' so it feels a lot more exciting when The X Factor can or could get hold of these names.

It's no surprise that with The X Factor's decline, along with other factors posted in here, that these sort of acts aren't getting slots and I do agree that generally The X Factor is getting decent home-grown talent on to perform, but it would be nice if it was a little less predictable. It's not been too successful ratings wise but I think Sounds Like Friday Night has had a really good selection of acts.

Little Mix are performing with CNCO next Sunday. Yay that we get to see these two groups live together, but nay coz I wanted a 'Is Your Love Enough?' performance. 😭😭
Shame a track that been out 3 months plus unless they perform 2 songs like last year

They could start with half of Is Your Love Enough and then segue into Reggaeton Lento?

v possible considering what they did last yr

They’re only performing “Reggaetón Lento”. What a waste of a performance. They could easily be promoting one of the three new singles from Glory Days

Has that actually been confirmed? I imagine they'll do a medley like last year when Charlie Puth joined them.
