Im going to be quiet on Chico Latino and let you girlies have some fun reminiscing without me remind you of how trully awful it is, for once B-)

A little late to the party to discuss this one...but had a few memories about Out of Your Mind. I remember back when an audio clip first showed up on the Spice fan sites. I totally didn't get it. The mix was a bit different. More chaotic. My reaction was completely...what...is...this...? But. I caught her Party In the Park performance...and I started to come around to the song. Then the video came out and was gorgeous. The rough edges of the song seemed to have been smoothed out, and I ended up really liking it.

The chart battle was always a curious thing to me. While I like the song, OOYM didn't necessarily sound like a huge hit to me. Not a #1 contender, anyway. That may be my US perspective creeping in. That style of music never totally took hold of the music charts here. So. To me...it always seemed like an interesting little track...taking on something that sounded hugely commercial (Groovejet). On the flip side, I *did* think Not Such An Innocent Girl sounded like a big hit. So. What do I know?

I remember buying her debut album and being excited. I listened to it once and thought she was crazy to leave the Spice Girls ti produce such predictable stuff. No live performances, the dancing was cheesy and it made me cringe. That’s when I realize Geri Halliwell aka Ginger Spice only worked when she had the other four to compensate her lack of talent. Mi Chico Latino is so average. Geri best song remains Viva Forever, as she was the one really behind the idea for the song.. irony, she doesn’t have any solo verses.

Melanie C's duet with Matt Cardle - Loving You - was released 7 years ago today!

Very likely the last ever solo top 20 hit... top 100 even

It's annoying that they didn't do more to promote on release week and instead went to Germany to promote it wtf!? Also that a physical single wasn't released I mean they could have shifted another 5-10k in physicals between their fanbases easily. Would have easily made top 10 with the extra push.

I saw them both perform that at G-A-Y on release week, ahhh the memories!

I remember at the time due to pre-orders I was expecting it to be a huge top 10 hit, but that didn't happen and dropped heavily. :( Still a good song!

I think loving you was number 7 in the first midweeks, and i was like is this a mistake as neither matt or mel were having hits, i really liked them working together as im a big fan of matts material and mels aswell so it was an ideal duet for me.
I saw them at g-a-y and collapsed the next morning when the song was in the I tunes top 10 !!

I have grown to appreciate TMBA so much more over the years it's quite a beautiful song. At the time I wasn't hugely impressed with it, I think coming off the back of WTYSL it felt quite weak.

Agree with this. At the time it felt like a step down, which is a shame. Frankly, I think I found a new appreciation for this track, specially after seeing it live at Albert Hall last Christmas

'The Sea', Melanie's fifth album, was released 9 years ago today! 'Think About It' was released alongside it.

These anniversaries continually make me feel so " :drama: ", can't believe this era is so close to being a decade ago.

The chart positions for these two still upset me to this day 😢

Happy anniversary to Melanie's amazing masterpiece! The album and the entire era felt so magical. Everything connected beautifully. It really was a labor of love. Motherhood has definitely changed Melanie for the better.
