She has been summoned back to Downing Street. I think we can assume she is not being brought back from an overseas visit to be offered a promotion.

May should sack Priti then go to the Queen and resign and hand over to Boris, the PM in waiting.
One question. If this is from a former FO person, why is behaviour spelt the American way? Or is this reported on an American website?

Of course, most of what they say is perfectly valid.

it was a series of tweets, presumably squashed spelling and spacing to fit...?

or she could resign and the party could hold an election and elect somebody that has honesty and integrity and competence.

Hard choice.

Any Briton who Americanises spelling to fit the Twitter limit should be shot :P

Absolutely this.

She should aack her, then Boris, then resign. Hopefully in the next GE we can unseat Boris. He thinks he is entitled to his Eton power. We can show him otherwise.

Also commonsense, you KNOW BJ is just more of the same

.. right? Went to the same school, believes in more cuts, demonises benefits? He will not help you in your life at all.

For many years British policy on Israel / Palestine has been broadly neutral. Patel clearly doesn't agree with this policy. One question is whether she was acting entirely on her own initiative or whether she had discreet (but deniable) backing from elsewhere.

And we have a winner!!

The Indie just announced breaking news - Mad May KNEW about the secret meetings and instructed her not to go public about them so as not to embarrass Mini Trump foreign sec!!

This is a pretty big scandal.

Do you mean Corbyn? I don't think the country wants another election after one in 2015 and another in June this year.

She's resigned, can't believe they didn't sack her first (well it's May, so ofc I can).

Priti would have been sacked had she not resigned, so same destination, different route.

At this rate, Jacob Rees-Mogg is going to be the Prime Minister by default by Christmas by virtue of being the only Tory MP not to be involved in a harassment scandal or the creation of a major diplomatic incident.

She was given the choice, I bet, but chose to resign as it looks better all round!

I said "party" not "general election". Contrary to expectations not all Tories are evil, greedy or stupid....

Ebenezeer Scrooge-Mogg is bound to have something he wants to keep hidden. At a guess, dubious business interests beyond cancer-stick fortunes, though that's pretty damning in it's own right for someone who claims to believe all life is sacred (cough, hypocrite, cough).

Sorry, misread your post.

What a bad week this has been for the conservatives. May and Johnson really should just both resign at this point, though I don't like the prospect of Mogg being PM either.

Note Rees-Mogg has been criticising Remainers for leaking information on Patel's activities.

Note, he has no evidence for this, and completely either rather stupidly misses the point that what she did was try to single-handedly determine government policy, or else he's trying to deflect attention from the act itself in a deliberate attempt to make it seem not at all serious and merely stroppy Remainers trying to undermine her.

So he's either deceitful or very stupid, one or the other. I shall make no judgement which....
