I watched Gravity Falls last year and enjoyed that, you probably know there's a fan theory that the two shows are connected and there was a little Easter egg in one R&M episode

I wouldn't say Signs is tropical house or tropical anything for that matter.

Oh yeah! In "Close Rickcounters of the Rick Kind", one of the dimensions Rick and Morty travel through while running from the Council Of Ricks has a portal in which a mug is thrown into. The post-credits scene of "Society Of The Blind Eye" has Stan throwing a mug into the portal he's building.

Also for Signs, I was meant to say it has a nice tropical vibe and a good syncopated beat

Last Christmas: Great song. May you rest in peace George. Also, did you know that I have Wham's The Final on double cassette in long box

Strobe: I think I might have heard this. I admired this during the listen

On Hold: Another good song. Did you know that I have all of xx's three studio albums on vinyl (with my copy of I See You being on indies exclusive clear vinyl)

. Don Diablo ~ Don't Let Go (feat. Holly Winter)
Date entered: 08/09/17
Chart sales: 286,200
Chart run: 99-68-68-81-74-82-94-76-100-94-78-86-… [12 weeks (so far)]

Don Diablo is a bit hit and miss really, but I quite like this one, it could even re-peak in the new year. A bit more pop than usual for him but it works.

#
. Ralph Felix and SDJM ~ The Heat (I Wanna Dance With Somebody)
Date entered: 24/02/17
Chart sales: 286,300
Chart run: 78-58-44-32-44-46-51-52-x [8 weeks]

A Sigala ripoff with a Whitney sample, of course I was going to like this.

#
. Katy Perry ~ Bon Appétit (feat. Migos)
Date entered: 05/05/17
Chart sales: 287,200
Chart run: 82-94-83-48-46-54-66-83-x [8 weeks]

Quite disappointing for a Katy single but it's a bit of a jam, though perhaps a bit too novelty. Thankfully her other two were a lot better and we'll see those in the top 100.

#
. Playboi Carti ~ Magnolia
Date entered: 21/07/17
Chart sales: 289,900
Chart run: 60-58-54-42-47-51-62-85-x [8 weeks]

Yeah I do like a bit of US trap, shame this one did nothing over here but I suppose its lack of melody didn't help.

#
. Detlef ~ Swagon (feat. Ossey James)
Date entered: 10/02/17
Chart sales: 290,400
Chart run: 48-64-59-56-41-43-62-81-x [8 weeks]

Who knew hip-hop mixed with tech house worked? Surprisingly this take on Soulja Boy does. Was a Beatport chart topper too.

#
. Camila Cabello ~ Crying in the Club
Date entered: 09/06/17
Chart sales: 290,600
Chart run: 85-63-65-61-74-79-92-91-87-81-94-94-x [12 weeks]

Quite a nice effort from Camila as her first single but it really does feel a bit too Sia influenced, thankfully she upped the quality for her follow-ups which both are yet to come.

#
. Alesso ~ Falling
Date entered: 21/07/17
Chart sales: 291,500
Chart run: 66-74-48-52-81-73-84-77-73-76-90-83-x [12 weeks]

Quite sad really that Alesso's stopped making the big progressive house bangers but this is nice for the laidback tune it is, and I suppose if he is making pop music now at least we got the brilliant 'Anywhere' out of it.

#
. John Gibbons ~ Would I Lie To You
Date entered: 19/08/16
Chart sales: 291,600
Chart run: …-19-26-64-x-99-91-x [5 weeks (20 total)]

John Gibbons had a good year with this still lingering for a few more weeks, and we should see him a lot higher up with 'P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)'. This still bangs too.

#
. Andrew Rayel ~ Never Let Me Go (feat. Angelika Vee)
Date entered: 15/09/17
Chart sales: 292,300
Chart run: 94-85-58-53-45-41-42-56-72-x [9 weeks]

I do love a good vocal trance song, Andrew Rayel has kinda been on my radar a bit but this one stood out to me the most.

#
. Solo Suspex ~ They Don't Know
Date entered: 15/09/17
Chart sales: 294,700
Chart run: 98-72-57-52-61-58-62-74-88-x [9 weeks]

Another good UK house track, these acts seem to come from nowhere with diet bangers, this didn't quite stand out enough to become a top 50 hit, but it's quite hard to do with such an oversaturated genre.

They Don't Know is such a tuneeee, missed out on my top 40 tho.

Happy to see Don Diablo here too :cheer:

Your hate chart top 3 is fantastic :(

Crying in the Club is my favourite song to appear so far I think  hoping Symphony, Lonely Together and Anywhere can be super high!!

It was too long, when I posted a comment on your Year-End list.

Alright, let's see:

Your favourite TV Show: Rick & Morty (still need to watch the show)

Your favourite Movie: Rogue One (Watched it and liked it, my favourite movie in 2017 is right now War For The Planet Of The Apes)

Album of the Year: Avīci (01) (Called it, I also liked the Album)

Your Top 250 songs of the year are really good, with some songs that I still need to hear.

Planet of the Apes was great too. I'd recommend R&M if you're into comedy/scifi.

Last Christmas: Great song. May you rest in peace George. Also, did you know that I have Wham's The Final on double cassette in long box

Strobe: I think I might have heard this. I admired this during the listen

On Hold: Another good song. Did you know that I have all of xx's three studio albums on vinyl (with my copy of I See You being on indies exclusive clear vinyl)

you seem to like collecting physical formats then. I don't personally.

I thought you'd like my hate chart

Anywhere will be dropping out sooner than you may think but the other two should be very high!

thanks for all the comments y'all ~

I like Crying In The Club and Bon Appetit (the latter has some good synth production)

Also, how come you don't like collecting physical media?

They Don't Know is absolutely brilliant, was always willing for that to go higher when I viewed your weekly charts!

Love Falling, should really have performed better on my Chart but was a low-peaker.

Hi Dan

Yay at Magnolia making it in here despite never making the top 40. I doubt we'll see it in many EOY's on Buzzjack this year but it's one of my favourite US rap hits of the year, I'm still a bit gutted it never crossed over to the UK :( He's excellent on Summer Bummer too

Can't agree with you more about Camila following CITC up with much better songs, everyone seemed to love that but I found it pretty dull even though it was a fine song. Havana was so much more on-trend and current. I think OMG would've made a good single choice too but it's probably a bit late now for that

My biggest highlights so far are unsurprisingly FM-84 and The xx  I'm so glad that you sent 'Running In The Night' to the Masquerade spinoff because it pushed me to finally listen to 'Atlas' and that's such an excellent record, I would highly recommend it. I'm glad that you embraced 'On Hold' after finding The xx overrated in the past, the group incorporating the kinda sound that Jamie xx's solo record was all about was a smart move. It was such a highlight when seeing them live

I don’t remember “Fallin’” at all oops

I tired getting into Don’t Let Go but then I got bored after 5 listens :P I really like Crying In The Club though!

It's quite expensive for what it is and most of my faves don't do physicals.

Yeah I think I discovered that from you, good song but my chart is super competitive.

I probably should have charted Falling higher but there wasn't a week where I was really into it.

US rap gets a hard time on here. Glad you seem to enjoy it.

I'm not sure how well Omg would have done so I'm glad Havana got chosen, at least it got released though as I prefer it to CITC. She needs to follow up quickly in the new year.

Suppose I should listen to 'Atlas' soon then, I'm not that great at catching up with albums though except for my absolute faves. Yeah I never got the hype for The xx (still don't) but good to see them doing a more upbeat electronic indie sound with 'Hold On'. I enjoyed Jamie xx's own 'I Know There's Gonna Be (Good Times)' too, I'd never have guessed he was from The xx if not for the name.

Crying in the club, one more sleep, on hold, starving, baby, lush life and dye my hair are my faves so far <3
good to see our music taste still crosses over somewhat, I'm sure there's a few higher up you'll like too.

On Hold & Bon Appetit form what I have seen so far yass
Bon Appetit is a bit disappointing, not really a vintage Katy song but it's fun at least. On Hold is the best The xx have ever done though.

I don’t remember “Fallin’” at all oops

I tired getting into Don’t Let Go but then I got bored after 5 listens :P I really like Crying In The Club though!

It's quite a good song actually but yeah not the most memorable unless you've listened to it quite a few times.

'Don't Let Go' is still growing for me, could make my top 40 soon - doesn't tire for me.

thought you'd really like 'Crying', personally I'm glad she's proven herself to be better than that, I can't see myself going back to it all that much.

~thanks for the comments~

#
. Felix Jaehn ~ Bonfire (feat. Alma)
Date entered: 22/07/16
Chart sales: 297,700
Chart run: …-38-40-65-x-87-83-88-81-92-98-x [9 weeks (28 total)]

A big hit from last year and the introduction to Alma who's had a big year in this chart. As for Felix Jaehn though, he's had no hits since despite releasing a number of new singles, none of them have been any good. Oops.

#
. Alma ~ Karma
Date entered: 16/09/16
Chart sales: 298,000
Chart run: …-39-35-32-62-77-59-x-99-100-96-x [9 weeks (20 total)]

Oh and here is Alma again. 'Karma' finally managed to peak inside the top 40 at the back end of last year before being killed by the Christmas invasion, I'd still put this above 'Dye My Hair' and definitely 'Phases' anyway so give this a listen if it passed you by.

#
. Marshmello ~ Alone
Date entered: 19/08/16
Chart sales: 298,200
Chart run: …-30-38-54-98-90-62-57-50-59-80-x [10 weeks (25 total)]

For a while it looked as if this would remain Marshmello's only hit for me, with me being disappointed with follow-ups, but though whilst it's still his biggest to date his Selena collab is creeping up my chart and should make an appearance in next year's year-end list. 'Silence' however didn't even break my top 100. That's not a mistake either.

#
. Rita Ora ~ Anywhere
Date entered: 27/10/17
Chart sales: 300,300
Chart run: 6-2-1-1-2-… [5 weeks (so far)]

Following just five weeks on the chart Rita manages to nearly break the top 200 but is unfortunately a victim of the chart points formula as despite two weeks at #1 she charts here at #207. However it seems very likely that she will make it higher on next year's list.

#
. Cashmere Cat ~ Quit (feat. Ariana Grande)
Date entered: 05/05/17
Chart sales: 301,600
Chart run: 60-73-55-37-30-33-41-53-x [8 weeks]

Whilst everyone was stanning 'One Last Time' again (which I did download off iTunes for charity but didn't re-enter my chart) I was playing 'Quit', on which she is featured for electronic/pop producer Cashmere Cat. It's a sweet song which really shows off her voice, and it is also nice to hear prominent use of the flute in the instrumental.

#
. Sage The Gemini ~ Now and Later
Date entered: 06/01/17
Chart sales: 302,400
Chart run: 70-49-45-35-37-35-39-52-70-84-x [10 weeks]

A US rap hit which crossed over at the start of the year though seemed to be completely forgotten about within six months. Well it's good and catchy and all but not a song I've revisited much recently. He really takes after Flo Rida in this. And we all know how relevant Flo is right now..

#204. Drake ~ Get It Together (feat. Black Coffee and Jorja Smith)
Date entered: 24/03/17
Chart sales: 302,600
Chart run: 11-10-13-23-35-73-81-x-86-91-x [9 weeks]

Technically a Drake song this, though it doesn't feature much Drake in it actually. Good to see him giving a platform to rising British acts anyway, Jorja sounds great on this and I like the laidback jazzy house beat. Though it did have a fast burn rate which costs it a top 200 position.

#
. Black Legend ~ Mr DJ (Something I Can Dance To) (feat. Phylea Carley)
Date entered: 27/01/17
Chart sales: 303,700
Chart run: 92-93-82-53-36-42-37-36-45-47-61-81-x [12 weeks]

I was intrigued when I saw this name crop up in my subscription feed, and yes it is the same Black Legend of 2000 UK one hit wonder fame. Quite a decent track too surprisingly.

#
. Camila Cabello ~ OMG (feat. Quavo)
Date entered: 11/08/17
Chart sales: 304,900
Chart run: 98-89-88-91-90-82-87-92-83-54-55-61-75-100-x [14 weeks]

This just beats Camila's other entry in the bottom half, with its trap beat and Quavo feature making it just that little bit better.

#
. Drones Club ~ Hurricane
Date entered: 21/04/17
Chart sales: 306,100
Chart run: 97-62-75-82-67-63-55-58-60-80-81-89-83-x [13 weeks]

A BJSC winner that grew on me quite a bit post contest so bravo to Seven for sending it. Great production on this and the breakdown really does sound like the musical equivalent of a hurricane.
Rita's starting to do club music now, from what I'm hearing.

Can't see any clubs playing Rita Ora solo material (unremixed).
