Personally, I do not give a shit about them 'being in headlines' or whatever. As a fan, I want them to be brave and explore what brough them together in the first place: music!

The problem is that isn't what brought them together in the first place.

For Geri and Victoria it was all about being famous.

For Emma and Mel B it was about being in the entertainment industry but not exclusively singing.

They would have been happy to 'make it' as actresses, modes, presenters, singers, radio hosts. Melanie C is the only one who was truly wanting to be a musician it seems and that's why she is the only one doing it.

BOOM!! THIS!!!!

Mel C also wanted to release Spice is Back and other more daring songs, but the others said no. She also didn't want to go rnb and destroy their legacy and end the biggest girl band of all rime (after the Andrews Sisters), but the other three said no... Mel C tried to SAVE Spice.

Well "save" is a big word.

I think Mel B is the only one always ready for the group.

She also didn't want to go rnb

Not true... the four of them were on the same page about the direction they wanted to go in. I'm sure Geri said at some point that she had suspected that R&B would be the genre they'd naturally gravitate towards without her presence. The trouble wasn't the music itself, it was pretty much everything else that came with being a Spice Girl, and Melanie had emotionally checked out by late 2000.

Eh??? Mrl C wanted to do rock pop for the Spices, not rnb, 2hich is part of why she hsd checked out too. The music just wasn't good.

I don't recall Melanie C ever being disparaging about the R&B direction specifically or her ever saying that she doesn't like Forever. Neither do I recall her ever stating that she wanted a rock pop direction for them instead.

Bear in mind that the bulk of the album had already been written and recorded a year before its release. In between that time she experienced major chart success away from the group. Her heart just wasn't into being a Spice Girl anymore by the time it came to promote it.

She rrally should have pushed for dance snd rock for the band, just like her MASSIVELY SUCCESSFUL solo album...

In another universe Forever didn’t happen and Northern Star was their third album by (with Geri). :yahoo:

Bonus track: I Want You Back feat. Missy

I mean Northern Star as an album would not have worked for the girls at all. NBTSA is the only one I could see working (which is ironic as it’s the only RnB tinged track on there and that is the direction they went). I could see some solo tracks working for a third Spice album, but they would have sounded different as the flavour of all 5 girls is what made their tracks so special.

Northern Star would have flopped as hard as Forever if they did it as a group. It just wouldnt have jelled with the public
Neither Northern Star or Schizophonic felt like they could’ve been Spice Girl albums for me. Maybe Bag It Up was the only one that potentially could’ve been a group hit but everything else not at all.
I Turn To You says hi ;)

And I say hi back but I Turn To You is *not* a Spice Girls song and would have never worked

Agree on NS, but Schizophonic was pretty much Gerita trying to replicate the Spice Girls sound (badly imo)

Well obviously I disagree as I adore the album.

I was also talking about lyrical meaning not music production. Tracks like Look at Me, Mi Chico Latino, Walkaway, Someone's Watching Over Me, You're In a Bubble, Lift Me Up are all very Geri solo.

Perhaps Goodnight Kiss could've been a group track.

Lyrically I agree with you!

Songwriter Sheppard Solomon recently was on a music podcast. He revealed the unreleased track Seven Days is from Spice. Solomon said he wrote two songs with the girls. He also goes into detail about meeting the girls for the first time and how wild they were.

Starts at the 15 minute mark.

^ Thank you for sharing! I wonder if we'll ever get to hear it?

Spice Girls reactions to the Queen's death:

Geri: My thoughts and sympathies go to the Royal Family for the loss of their Mother, Grandmother, Aunt. Thank you to Her Majesty for her resolute never-ending service. She is, and always will be the epitome of dignity and elegance. https://www.instagram.com/p/CiQYVNNMI9n/

Victoria: Today is a very sad day not just for our country but for the entire world. I’m deeply saddened by the passing of our beloved Monarch, Her Majesty The Queen. She will be remembered for her steadfast loyalty and service and my thoughts are with the royal family at this incredibly sad time. https://www.instagram.com/p/CiQYYgBo295/

Emma: Always by our side and forever in our hearts. My thoughts are with the royal family. Thank you, may you now rest in peace. https://www.instagram.com/p/CiQZ8E3M-od/

Mel B: Today is the saddest day. We have lost an incredible lady who all of us grew up with and had so much respect for. I was honoured to meet her, honoured that she awarded me my MBE as patron of Women’s Aid and honoured she was our Queen https://www.instagram.com/p/CiQke5PLYVj/

I doubt we will ever get to hear Seven Days and the other song Sheppard Solomon and Mark Taylor recorded with the girls. It sucks that there is plenty of unreleased tracks from Spice and the girls only released Feed Your Love.

In that interview Solomon said the songs he did with them were rnb.
