Do we really have to lift up one girl group by putting down another?

You know there'd be a high proportion of people in this country who'd probably say "have some self-respect people, you're paying for glorified karaoke" regarding Spice Girls tickets, but we know better... and those who actually understand and appreciate Girls Aloud know that's far from being the case too. :o

I went to see them live once and was considering asking for a refund

But yes, you're right about public perception vs reality. At least the Spice Girls put on a good show though :teresa:

Wondering when the second merch drop will be?

A bit of an update on that, it is still crossing the ocean #doh

Was never meant to be two drops but whoever processed the order forgot to actually place orders on some of the items. So has had to be done in two lots but the 2nd is now getting close to not arriving in time to guarentee delivery to the US market for Christmas and has already missed the deadline for the Aus market.

These sorts of issues seem to stem from Bravado/Universal not really caring massively about the Spice Girls. They earn plenty from the band/brand without doing anything so any extra effort is done sloppily.

It is annoying that the girls brand/music are with such a huge distributor/label where they aren't a priority and that they could do nothing ever again to promote the brand/music and Wannabe would still earn more money than most artists could wish for.

Which is why I'm assuming every tshirt is pretty much the same pic just slightly different as it is just done as easily as possible. The thought going into these things is 'what is easiest' not what is best.

The contract with Bravado is up for review early next year.

As I've said before there are essentially two teams, Spice Girls team and Universal and they from what I understand don't always communicate well and see eye to eye.

My fears for the documentary and a potential tour is they wont communicate well and work well together as pre usual. Like in 2019 the girls/team never even saw the GH picture disc until it went up for pre-order I seem to remember.

That's pretty disappointing! I hope they could look into a different merch team

Urgh, the fact that their team has a difficult relationship with Universal is so dissapointing.

It was so obvious during the 2019 tour when their catalogue was kind of let to dry apart from that mediocre GH release. A big missed opportunity there, imo.

Spice25 was a bit of a step in the right direction with partnerships developed with Spotify and Apple Music, but it seemed to fall flat again for Spiceworld25 last year.

It doesnt really bode well to be honest, to the future. I wish they would take their masters back and develop a team that actually champions their music and career, as so many other artists do.

In terms of the merch f*** up, yeah that really sucks. Hopefully they can release it this week at least. Merch is usually a big money earner but also so many issues with other artists' merch shipping, it is definitely not just a Spice-related issue.

Another clue that something will definitely happen, this time by Gerita again. She mentions, as an answer to a reunion with a tour and a Glastonbury headline slot, that it is a great idea and that it deserves to happen!

I would say they are currently in discussions :teresa:

She and Rylan make me smile. A beautiful friendship that seems very genuine.

You can tell Rylan doesn't really care about the book, it has been out over a month and he hasn't read it.

You can also tell he would be front row at Glastonbury or Wembley though in a heartbeat.

I wonder what the group's team and Universal don't see eye to eye on. There definitely seems to be a lack of synergy there.

OK so this is my opinion ONLY but...

1) Probably the lack of interest in the girls themselves on anything that doesn't bring a few million each doesn't help?.... They are notoriously disorganised and uninterested, often one or two of them missing deadlines for votes and approving things (as been stated a few times). Plus, the fact their contract means that ALL of them have to agree, even Victoria, makes it hard to get anything through, since most of the time they are not invested enough to care.

2) But also, on the other hand, Universal could easily provide them with a new recording offer, and see if they are interested now in taking anything forward, or at least offer to get them together in a studio and see how it all works. But those offers wont come in at the level they were used to from back in the 90s, which doesn't guarantee them millions anymore.

3) Thirdly, I think Simon is a stumbling block. He is not the kind of manager that will entice them to get together for new music unless there are guaranteed vast profit from it, which is such a mistake. He's a bit of dinosaur, and you can tell by his other business ventures over the last 20 years. So doubt he much cares for the Universal relationship because it also doesnt bring the guaranteed success he wants in order to do much. He knows a tour will sell and bring a lot of money in, and provide avenues for more comercial ads which in turn also bring more money.

4) The girls themselves. For some reason they are adverse to do new music, so Universal only sees them as a nostalgia act and that's not a priority because they don't have a 360-deal like other artists, where Universal can profit from the tour as well. Universal only gets money from the official merch and the music sales, which both can be sold on tour and around a tour, but unless the girls themselves go on tour, there's no incentive to do much from Universal.

Basically, they need to make new music and maybe the relationship can be stronger.

Who are the girls that miss the deadlines and votes? Mel B & Victoria?

who knows'.... all I know is that there have been mentions here and on other forums of some of the girls not agreeing/greenlighting things on time. It's good that they have so much control/power but it sucks for us though lol...
If Universal and the group's team really don't get along, then we may as well kiss Forever 25 goodbye. I highly doubt the group cares about celebrating Forever or releasing any of the outtakes.

It's most probably a frustrating relationship rather than necessarily 'not getting along' but I guess we'll never know. Biff did signal during the Spice15 campaign that for us to 'think about the timeline of releases' when talking about Woman being shared, meaning Forever 25 was probably planned.

I hope it does come to light. If the group is indeed about to stage a comeback, Forever 25 will probably happen.

I wouldn't call going on another reunion tour a comeback, but I get what you mean. Releasing an anniversary edition of an album or a new compilation album would sell better alongside a tour. Spiceworld 25 severely underperformed. I can't imagine Forever doing better unless they include 2-3 unreleased tracks.

Hopefully they have learnt from Spiceworld25 failures. First that they need to actually do something (the lack of any promo from any of them was so dark....), then that they must listen to the fans about actual incentives and do a proper release. Forever will need a bit of help, more than Spice25 and Spiceworld25 ever did. Those releases probably made up costs at least, since they were clearly done on the cheap lol

A few social media posts from each of them AT LEAST would help. With Spiceworld25, I believe all we got was a an instagram story from a couple of them and nothing else, plus the reaction to the bad quality of the release didn't help either. A lot of fans didn't get most of the versions.

So yeah, a tour would help. A bit of attention to detail would also help.

Michael your posts have been removed. If you continue to post about Geri in that way I will continue to remove them. You have been asked by Jay once before to stop so you've had your warning.

Forever 25 will only appeal to die hard fans. So the track list needs to be exceptional. As long as that happens I'm confident it will go top 10. The track list needs to do the heavy lifting because I can't imagine the group doing much promo for Forever 25. Hopefully we at least get Woman and Go Go Go.

Agreed: they're going to have to load Forever up with enough bonus material for me to buy it. And if there is any justice, they will also update that dreadful cover where half of them look exhausted and Spice-less.

Given how half-arsed and uninspired Spiceworld25 was (not to mention the complete ignoring of the movie), they really only have one way to go from this: it can't be any worse than that wasted opportunity to properly celebrate one of the greatest pop records in history.

Yep, I agree! Definitely needs a couple of unreleased tracks at least. And a cover with a much better design than the attrocity that was SW25 (im sorry but the lame fake metalic was such a piss take! Why not continue with the white-cover that Spice25 had?!!!)

Also, strangely they have individually shown more love for Forever on their social medias than they have with Spiceworld25  Even Gerita promoted the Forever 20th anniversary vinyl on her insta back in 2020, whereas I dont think she or Emma even mentioned Spiceworld25  so you never know :teresa:
