Coventry in 2019 was like a massive drunken hen night for every Sandra, Sue and Karen who was a kid or teenager in 1997. Now they are 30 or 40 year old mums who play these online games while they sip wine and listen to the 90s Spotify playlist. These adverts are directly targetted at the right audience for the game.

Exactly. People forget that a group like Spice Girls didn't sell a lot of copies (or for that matter get streams) because of a couple of obsessive gheys that are sitting on an outdated format (internet forum) arguing about if Forever should've had a third single or not, they have a huge more casual audience that drives that. There's definitively a lot of wine mums who sit around play mindless app games among those.

I mean you are right but it is obvious that had Forever had a third single, it would have smashed and the albums' sales would now be on over 10million thank you!

HAHA  Touche.

Obviously the girls have a massive audience besides the gheys, I think we all know that. You cannot fill a whole stadium with just them. However, the gheys are certainly their biggest and most dedicated audience. The hens probably go to a tour when it's around to have a drunk night out and stream a song every now and then, but they are not following them, buying every solo release or arguining about the potential third Forever single. So I think it would make sense to also gather a bit more towards the gheys sometimes. Who is going to download Coin Master because of this ad? I wouldn't expect either the gheys or the hens.

I could genuinely see the hens do it tbh - they'll likely see an ad pop up feat the Spice Girls and then they'll watch and have a link to download this app.

They aren't gearing this towards people who'll obsessively search out anything Spice Girls does, but the audience that'll see an ad featuring the Spice Girls and click to see what it's about. The boozy hens check this box.

Exactly I don't understand why this is hard to understand tbh. Even the way it has been done is 4 gal pals (who are the Spice Girls) who go out for a night out together, at the office together (in the elevator) or chilling together play this game like you are your gal pals do/can.

It is the Spice Girls but it could be Sue, Karen, Sandra and Kim on a boozy night out or in the work elevator playing the game.

Be that as it may, we can still think / comment that it's really cringe and tacky of them to do this! I think the only benefit of this is their bank balances getting a boost... I really don't see it having a positive knock on effect on their music consumption. As a fan, my respect for them has gone down a notch. They couldn't even pencil in one day to do some meaningful content together for Spice 25, but we see they can achieve anything if they want to. And they chose Coinmaster.

I'm looking forward to this being moved on and forgotten about, and hopefully they'll do something more worthwhile next time they're together.

This is my sentiment too. Like, I get it that us fags were thrown a couple of bones last year but the lack of interest from them towards the Spice25 was so apparent. I was thinking as well, that maybe they didnt get together to promote that since Victoria wasnt going to do it as she is no longer part of it?... So having just the 4 of them doing interviews, etc, perhaps they felt like it wasnt the right way to go about it?

Well, that and Mel C being in bloody america doing that crap show. I guess the combination also didnt give them much chance of doing something together for the release?

I mean, it sucks. Them doing interviews as a 4 piece is exactly what we need, and so do they. The lack of media presence from the 4some has been awful. They did ONE day of interviews back in 2018 to launch the tour and that was it since then... terrible...

This is exactly how I feel. At the end of the day, it's their career and their lives and they can obviously decide what to do with it. As a fan, it's just disappointing to see them doing these kind of adverts. I loved the Walkers one back in '19, as it made sense and yes it was a bit cheesy but it worked. This is just such a money grab for the hens and it's cringe.

I mean let’s not blame the only girl who bothered doing anything to actually promote and focus on the ones who couldn’t be arsed at all perhaps?

I share Jays sentiments.

They did 1 day of interviews in 2018 and sold 700k tickets. They did no interviews and left Spice25 to the label and it went top 5. They did 1 day of filming for coinmaster and took a big cheque.

It is frustrating we as fans don't get more content but they are still wildly successful whilst not doing loads of promo and still get a big pay day from coinmaster so why bother.

Then you have the signed merch deal with Bravado, another pay cheque where Bravado do the leg work. They are making great money right now not slogging themselves to death like they did in 1997.

My issue isn't the fact they did commercials for Coinmaster, really. It's the commercials themselves. The Walkers commercials from 2019 and the Tesco commercials from 2007 actually were fairly cute...and played up the girls' individual personalities. On the flip side, if I were in a pitch meeting for these Coinmaster commercials...my guess is the first idea in the first ten seconds would be..."the girls are busy playing the game, so a group of awkward guys fill in for them on stage." It's not funny because it's too expected. It's just not...even trying to throw a twist at us? Furthermore, (and I realize this is thinking deeper than perhaps the commercial deserves) from a purely PR perspective, I'm not sure it's a good look to have your act preferring to play on their phones rather than perform for paying, dedicated fans. Yeah, I know. It's not that deep. No one's going to be offended. But. I'm just saying. If I were on their team, I'd bring up the concern that it's not super flattering.

Though. If they really wanted to troll us, they should do a commercial where they're actually in a studio together...but none of them will go into a recording booth cause they're too busy playing Coinmaster. Everyone will just love that.

I'd personally say 3 of the 4 coin master adverts are better than the 2019 Walkers advert.

I think most people are just annoyed they did it just for the cash, where as most would see the Walkers advert as an add on to the tour (even though it was merely a cash in too).

They all look so much better in the coin master adverts than the 2019 Walkers ones. Geri seems much looser and more fun for coin master too.

I have no doubt if we were sat waiting for a tour with tickets in our hands we would view the coin master adverts differently.

 Don't give them ideas :kink:

The Stop dance routine features in Kyla La Grange's new video! The song is so good, so worth checking out anyway, but the concept of the video is her going through the different stages of her live and as her teenage self she does the full routine, in front of a wall covered in Spice posters. Nicely done.
