Yes BLACKPINK :cheeseblock:

Random but Rita Ora's new album cover has the Geri and Victoria Lego figures on it! Cute! Not exactly the way I dreamt of the girls appearing on a new album cover :kink:

Let's take a closer look...

Edit: They're in this Rita Ora Architectural Digest video too. The impact x

I just saw this (as a fan on another forum posted) and reminded me that I always found this performance quite odd. It was the first TV appereance from them, and they chose to do Do You Think About Me, a song that they had first recorded/performed before they were signed and from the Herbbert's time

By this point, they were ready to launch Wannabe, and one would think that Do You Think About Me was from the same time as they recorded other tracks like Walking On Air, Take Me Away, etc...

On top of that, they also performed One of These Girls which I guess to introduce them must have been an interesting idea (and result was cute!) but also, it was a b-side that would not be released till December!

Both seem like odd inclusions here, don't you think?... Or where they ever thought to be in the album, only to be later relegated to unreleased/b-side status?...

Is it just me or is Geri not actually singing at all in that clip? At least not for Do You Think About Me, I can't detect her at all  and it looks like she's doing the most to try and look like she actually is singing?

It was a bit of a random appearance and arrangement. Could they have still been considering to use Do You Think About Me at that point? Or did they randomly decide that that is the song that would showcase their harmonies the best, while fully knowing that they'd never release it?

Curious!

Are any of the music videos on the official YouTube page available in true 4K?

I haven't watched them in a while but I feel like Say You'll Be There possibly is, or at the very least they had a really high quality original source for that video to convert it into 4K and look great. Some videos seem more obviously not proper 4K such as 2 Become 1 and Spice Up Your Life.

At least we have the aternative Versions of Spice Up Your Life & Stop in genuine 4K from the original film!

It is just intriguing cos it was such a left field choice of a song to perform  Maybe Vicky wanted to prove her vocal talents that day and demanded it :teresa: Personally, out of the Touch songs, it is the better one for sure so maybe it was in contention? They did pay the Herberts back didn't they?

I read somewhere, maybe that David Sinclair book, that stated they did pay them a lump sum to avoid a court case (they did loose a lot of money by the girls doing them a bunk lol), so maybe Do You Think About Me was given to them as part of a settlement?...

An yeah Gerita doesnt sing at all, it's quite hilarious she really obviously pretended to sing

Well, it was April 1996, so I think it's possible that pretty much everything was still in contention at that point since they had no idea how Wannabe was going to perform. It wouldn't surprise me if they didn't put together a proper tracklist until Wannabe proved to be such a huge breakthrough for them - remember, the record label wanted Love Thing; I assume that the original proposed tracklisting might've been a lot more diverse than basically just going with Stannard / Rowe and Absolute (which makes sense - if Wannabe bombed then they'd need to re-group and re-think their strategy).
But none(?) of the Touch tracks were co-written by the girls, so I don't think they would have included them on the album.

I think that once Wannabe became a huge hit they probably wielded a lot more power on what they could and wouldn't have to include on their album. It's possible that the label favoured the song (for whatever reason) and tried to push it out there before they were able to take full control.

At least we have the alternative of Spice Up Your Life & Stop in genuine 4K from the original film!

Right. I guess Chris can also be commissioned by Universal to re-create the original versions of SUYL & Stop in 4K.

I love clips like this: they're all so into what they are singing, and it's a reminder of how strong they are as a group and why they captivated so many people. Also: this acapella clip made me like One Of These Girls for the first time. :heehee:

How does Emma look like she just stepped out of 1999 or something!! Eternally youthful queen x

Yes, it’s official. After Spice Girls “The Power of 5”, Spice Girls -Geri, GEM, and Spice Girls -The one who empowers women through fashion, another line up is here:

Spice Tories, the combo we never thought we would see. With lead singer and Iron Lady, Geri Horner, and backup singers, the other two.

And who cares about the LGBTQ+ and indigenous people of the unCommon Wealth.

At least, they were in good company, Katy “JustEat” Perry, Take That-tax evasion, and the beautiful Kwing Camilla.

Viva Forever, Diana.

Well, Mel B was a part of ITV’s coverage of the coronation, so if you’re going to criticise the above three, then criticise her involvement as well!

Tbh, even if Melanie C avoids social media posts about the royals, that in itself does not make her anti-monarchy. That much is clear from her recent autobiography. So really, you have to have a problem with the whole band on this, if it bothers you. It’s not one where you can pick and choose and put most of the heat on Geri…

I suggest you read the comments to those IG posts, hennie.

Believe me, I can imagine. The terminally online will always terminally online… yet all of us will go about our days just fine after these Spice Girls posts!

100% not going to go further into politics and monarchy in a Spice Girls forum, but I just wanted to point out that if you’re going to give heat to the three Spice Girls who posted Instagram posts (I know, your post was somewhat lighthearted) that maybe you should go after the whole band, hennie!
