January 2, 20187 yr I don't think having one 'bimbo' is bad though, her type is still representative of 2017 celebrity culture for females really. Oh yeah definitely, it does sum up being a women and many of its facets well without proper taking the piss or demeaning women like it would if Laura or Michaela went in
January 2, 20187 yr I’m shocked at Channel 5 actually doing a theme properly! They’ve got some of the most ‘classiest’ housemates they could dream for and even the reality stars aren’t the usual controversial Geordie Shore types (even if Jess was on Ex on the Beach). There is of cpurse that potential for it to be dull but, I don’t know if it was because we got more time with each celebrity due to the interviews, but all of them have the chance to be interesting in a way that we haven’t seen in like forever on this show. The whole positivty and classier affair tonight actually gives me hope that they won’t be resorting to mean twists and who said this but at the same time, this is Channel 5... It doesn’t feel right with the image they’re trying to project currently though. I’m glad they’re actually experimenting with the tone though because I am getting fatigue of a sole focus on forced arguments. I hope they do actually keep it up, I know ot’s only the first show!! I’m not sure if it’ll pay off but hey, it’s probably ending this year so you may as well take a risk. Maggie is absolutely brilliantly inventive casting, will be so interesting if we get to hear more from her. I actually like Jess from what I’ve seen of her previously despite her TV history. I’ve googled Ashley and I still have no idea what she does, it says she’s a presenter for Hollyoaks, how is that possible?? 😂 ngl I did find it funny how the end bit focused on a broken nail, when they whole thing is about going against stereotypes!!
January 2, 20187 yr Wait I forgot about India, I don’t like her. She’s too tryhard from what I’ve seen on BOTS and she basically shares Caitlyn Jenner’s views on transgender stuff.
January 2, 20187 yr It's hard to predict a winner from that line up but at the moment I would guess maybe India is the early favourite.
January 2, 20187 yr Presenter for Hollyoaks LMAOOOOOO why am I screaming I actually think this might be a series that pleases the hardcore old fans, but said to be boring by casual viewers and newer fans, that's what it seems to be on Twitter. The new younger fans who've watched like two series and think realiy TV has to be people naked, shagging, drunk and swearing are driving me insane :') That won't be the best for ratings but I'm obviously here for it.
January 2, 20187 yr Amanda Barrie 9/10 Ann Widdecombe 8/10 Ashley James 5/10 India Willoughby 7/10 Jess Impiazzi 7/10 Maggie Oliver 10/10 Malika Haqq 9/10 Rachel Johnson 9/10 Hope there’s some younger men in there
January 3, 20187 yr Amanda Barrie 9/10 Ann Widdecombe 8/10 Ashley James 5/10 India Willoughby 7/10 Jess Impiazzi 7/10 Maggie Oliver 10/10 Malika Haqq 9/10 Rachel Johnson 9/10 Hope there’s some younger men in there Erm... this is big brother. Of course there will be young men in there lmao Actually scratch that. It's a TV SHOW. of course there will be younger men Edited January 3, 20187 yr by ionderella
January 3, 20187 yr Loving this 'let's get all the women in quickly and focus on each male at a time later when they start entering one by one coz more important' twist tho gotta say xx
January 3, 20187 yr More people were probably watching "The greatest TV moments of all time" which was shown on ITV last night at the same time as Celebrity Big Brother.
January 3, 20187 yr Tbh I thought the ratings would be lower than that so I don’t think that’s to bad tbh .
January 3, 20187 yr Yeah it could have been FAR worse than that, I thought it might dip below 2m (I guess it did only barely avoid that, but still). I definitely think this is a risk of a series, at the moment it feels like almost fan service for the "hardcore", or rather older fans. Not necessarily older in age, but ones who have been with the show for ages and miss the Channel 4 era as that's what this feels like now. I don't really think that's the best decision for the show as such given it's in a pretty precarious position right now, but I'm not too worried as it's still getting more than any benefits related show C5 would show in its place surely? But I guess the costs of producing this, not just maintenance, feeding them all, electrics, and all that, but also the salaries they'd have to fork out, are much more than for a show like that though. The live feed last night was brilliant to watch because it felt so real, it was great to see these women who've had varied experiences, incredible ones, talk and interact about them, I find that fascinating. people are ridiculous, it's a few days of something different before their precious "fit" reality stars descend to leer over the women and things are more conventional. Not to sound condescending to "newer" fans, but if they want to see a load of young people shagging, arguing etc. then Geordie Shore is always an option  If the whole series is like this, I will understand but it's clearly not going to be, it's almost like a pre-series as something a bit different, I'm going to enjoy it while I can. If anything they can see how alienated we've felt for many of the C5 series that feel nothing like the Big Brother we know and love! For once, they've got what feels like a really balanced cast where the're pretty much all intriguing in some way, even for the ones i can't take to as much (currently India and Jess, Ann is gonna test m but she's such an interesting character for now) I'm interested in what they have to say and they bring something to the table that isn't covered by the other housemates. This series is certainly doing its job to highlight attitudes towards women that they sadly still face anyway, especially older women. I'm sick of seeing comments about it being like a retirement home, that's exactly what Amanda was rightfully saying in her VT - you get to a certain age and people write you off and think you can't do anything. I'd much rather be faced with people like her who have a wealth of experiences to draw upon and talk about over the usual showmances and tasks of who said what. Like I said, it's only going to be a couple of days anyway. If the line-up was say to celebrate reality TV and they had 8 Geordie Shore and TOWIE people go in, the same people would be wetting themselves at how amazing the line-up is. The Sun have also good as confirmed that two of the males are Jonny Mitchell who we ofc already basically knew and Shane Lynch from Boyzone. I didn't see Love Island but was aware of Jonny's feminism comments to Camila so that'll be... interesting seeing him spar with strong minded women like Amanda or Rachel who I Imagine won't suffer any fools. I'm gonna throw Courtney Act in there too, given the Drag Race alumni rumour and the fact she's had to cancel Jan tour dates and said we'd find out in a few days... Could be for BBUS but I doubt they'd reveal this early, unless "few days" is just a vague thing. Ginuwine and Andrew Brady I'm pretty sure will end up doing it too then maybe a surprise or two but there's sure to be someone from Geordie Shore or TOWIE if not both. Perhaps Pete Wicks and Nathan Henry, I've seen those names batted around.
January 3, 20187 yr I'm avoiding all spoilers but all I keep thinking is... a male is bound to win this series after all of this, aren't they? :')
