November 25, 20177 yr Hyped for this Josh *.* I like quite a few of the songs that made your top 3s in previous years, especially: 'Work', 'Love Me Like You', 'Team' and 'Dark Horse'. <3
November 26, 20177 yr Author Hyped for this Josh *.* I like quite a few of the songs that made your top 3s in previous years, especially: 'Work', 'Love Me Like You', 'Team' and 'Dark Horse'. <3 Yayyy! I still haven't settled on my top three in the singles EOY but hopefully you approve when I do! :heehee: Thanks for commenting  Let's go :cheer: --- 40. Sundara Karma - Karma Youth Is Only Ever Fun in Retrospect Chart run: (4-5-5-6-6-7-7-8-9-9-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-x) 17 weeks Hit singles: 15 Flame (36-22-15-19-26-29-37-47-x) 8 weeks 15 She Said (40-15-16-19-26-34-44-x) 7 weeks 28 Explore (39-29-28-32-50-x) 5 weeks I first discovered this band through Radio 1 and fell in love with She Said pretty quickly due to its catchy hook and light summery chorus. Flame was another decent hit on my charts so I was pretty hyped for the album. It was a fine album really but pretty unexciting and I haven't listened to it in months now so I can barely remember any tracks from it. The only reason it spent so many weeks top 10 was due to such little competition and so few new entries in my album chart at the start of the year. --- 39. Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes - Modern Ruin Chart run: (5-5-6-6-7-8-8-9-9-9-9-9-9-9-10-x) 15 weeks Hit singles: 18 Wild Flowers (35-18-18-22-32-36-42-44-x) 8 weeks 27 Vampires (27-29-31-34-x) 4 weeks 31 Lullaby (39-34-31-37-48-x) 5 weeks I first discovered Lullaby on Radio 1 and it crept up on me quite quickly, I quite liked head-banging to it a bit on the car on the way to work etc. and so I thought I'd give the album a go. There were a few definite highlights (the future singles especially which both peaked higher on my personal chart) but I don't go back to this very often and just like Sundara Karma, the chart run is only so good due to basically no new entries in my chart back then. --- 38. Circa Waves - Different Creatures Chart run: (3-3-3-3-3-3-3-6-10-10-10-x) 11 weeks Hit singles: 11 Fire That Burns (14-11-13-16-24-29-34-41-45-47-46-x) 11 weeks 18 Goodbye (32-18-22-28-33-41-x) 6 weeks 20 Wake Up (41-36-32-28-20-22-32-34-41-x) 9 weeks I was a huge fan of the light summery bops like "T-shirt Weather" and "Young Chasers" that Circa Waves gifted us during their debut era but there was a big change in sound during their second era and the album wasn't as good in my opinion. The singles really did grow on me (especially "Wake Up" which was such a huge slow burner) but I didn't revisit the album much and would rather listen to their debut album again over this. --- 37. PVRIS - All We Need of Heaven, All We Need of Hell Chart run: (4-6-9-x) 3 weeks Hit singles: 18 Heaven (25-25-18-26-x) 4 weeks 22 What's Wrong (28-22-26-35-41-47-x) 6 weeks 33 Winter (33-37-48-48-x) 4 weeks A big Buzzjack favourite here but I can't really say that I've listened to this much/at all since release week. I downloaded it for my plane flight to Venice back in August and enjoyed it a fair bit but it was nothing special and I'd rather just listen to the singles on their own. They're fun for a 4 minute jam but a whole album gets a bit tedious for me. --- 36. Wolf Alice - Visions of a Life Chart run: (6-7-x) 2 weeks Hit singles: 29 Beautifully Unconventional (29-39-39-40-38-x) 5 weeks I was such a huge fan of their debut album (it made #15 in my EOY back in 2015) so I had very high hopes for this but Yuk Foo was a huge disappointment and nothing really stuck with me until Beautifully Unconventional came along. That persuaded me to give the album a chance as I was enjoying it so much but unfortunately there was nothing as good as that on the album and I haven't gone back to it much since release week.
November 26, 20177 yr Only heard 'Wild Flowers' and 'Lullaby' from the Frank Carter album but both are great! Hope Declan McKenna can make an appearance here ;)
November 26, 20177 yr Omg No don't shade Different Creatures its such a good album  Thats the only one I really like up there oops
November 27, 20177 yr The wolf Alice album is SO disappointing. I adored their first album and I think I've been back to this one once since release week :/
November 27, 20177 yr Author Only heard 'Wild Flowers' and 'Lullaby' from the Frank Carter album but both are great! Hope Declan McKenna can make an appearance here ;) Those two are definitely the big highlights of the album. The rest is more of the same though really so I bet you'd like it! Declan is definitely making it in :cheer: He's quite far from being revealed too :heehee: Omg No don't shade Different Creatures its such a good album  Thats the only one I really like up there oops I did enjoy Different Creatures but just prefer their entire first era really, oops :heehee: The wolf Alice album is SO disappointing. I adored their first album and I think I've been back to this one once since release week :/ Basically exactly the same for me. Hopefully they bring the goods for the third era otherwise they'll go down as one of the bands with huge potential that ended up being a bit naff :( Thanks for the comments guys!!
November 27, 20177 yr Author 35. Sam Smith - The Thrill of It All Chart run: (4-3-4-6-...) 4 weeks (so far) Hit singles: 05 Too Good at Goodbyes (19-11-10-7-5-10-18-32-x) 8 weeks 37 One Last Song (37-37-46-...) 3 weeks (so far) Another album that is decent/serviceable but just not as good as the previous album from that artist. Sam Smith was an artist who really grew on me after originally despising "Money On My Mind" & "Stay With Me" but I ended up adoring his first album and being one of the many fans in real life (Buzzjack seems to hate him :heehee:) of him. "Too Good at Goodbyes" was nice even if it was just more of the same but the album is very one-note which leaves me feeling pretty bored. I like all of the tracks individually so will probably enjoy the future singles he pushes from the album but as a whole body of work, it needs to be so much more exciting to be a Josh fave. --- 34. Nothing but Thieves - Broken Machine Chart run: (4-6-6-x) 3 weeks Hit singles: 12 Amsterdam (20-14-12-18-21-32-37-43-48-x) 9 weeks 42 Sorry (42-45-50-50-x) 4 weeks There's a theme here of worse follow-up albums  I loved the Nothing but Thieves debut album too and was so hyped for this after absolutely loving and playing "Amsterdam" for months on end (it still goes OFF even now, what a banger :music:) but the album itself had very few highlights and I haven't returned to it since release week. A big disappointment considering I still enjoy playing their debut album even now. --- 33. Arcade Fire - Everything Now Chart run: (5-5-6-8-x) 4 weeks Hit singles: 24 Everything Now (24-28-36-36-46-50-xx-34-46-48-x) 9 weeks I've never been a fan of Arcade Fire before really and I'm only slightly aware of a few singles of theirs so imagine my surprise when "Everything Now" (the song) came along and I loved it. It never failed to cheer me up and get me in a good mood and it even had a little second wind in my chart a couple of months later. The album was really well produced and I enjoyed it but it's not entirely my cup of tea so I haven't gone back to it loads since. --- 32. London Grammar - Truth is a Beautiful Thing Chart run: (4-6-7-8-9-x) 5 weeks Hit singles: 24 Oh Woman Oh Man (38-28-29-24-28-38-x) 6 weeks 31 Non Believer (31-34-40-40-x) 4 weeks 33 Big Picture (37-33-34-40-50-x) 5 weeks Yet another disappointing album compared to their debut era, whoops :drama: This just was too long and too dreary as a whole album and I really struggled to get through it in one sitting. Hannah has gorgeous vocals and the instrumentals were heavenly too, hence why I enjoyed the standalone singles so much but a whole album of slow ballads just lost my interest whereas their debut had songs like "Metal & Dust" to excite things a bit. --- 31. XXXTentacion - 17 Chart run: (3-3-6-7-8-x) 5 weeks Hit singles: 19 Jocelyn Flores (26-19-23-29-30-48-x) 6 weeks When I first heard "Look at Me!", I thought it was pretty dreadful and was not expecting XXXTentacion to be an artist that I would end up enjoying. However, that massively grew on me and after enjoying "Jocelyn Flores" too, I thought I'd give the album a go. I wasn't expecting it to be so chill and relaxing so I was pleasantly surprised at the sound he had gone for on the album. Not an album I've gone back to loads but that should really change as it is a great album!
November 28, 20177 yr Loved 'Sorry' by NBT and 'Everything Now' was a grower as well! In fact I did give the Arcade Fire album a listen, sounded decent!
November 28, 20177 yr Author Some good albums on your chart like Different Creatures and YIOEFIR Thanks!! Hopefully you appreciate some of the albums still to come too :heehee: Loved 'Sorry' by NBT and 'Everything Now' was a grower as well! In fact I did give the Arcade Fire album a listen, sounded decent! Sorry took ages to grow in me but I love it now, shame the album wasn't as good as the singles :( Thanks for the comments guys!!
November 28, 20177 yr Author 30. SZA - Ctrl Chart run: (7-10-x) 2 weeks Hit singles: 07 Love Galore (42-7-8-8-15-20-25-33-29-38-x) 10 weeks 37 Supermodel (37-x) 1 week This chart run is pretty poor but it was in such a period for my albums chart so the chart run is certainly not reflective of how much I enjoy the album. I was interested in listening to this after seeing Bal gushing over it and I wasn't disappointed with it at all. "Love Galore" is definitely the big highlight of the album for me but it's all pretty fab and I'm so glad she's done so well in the US at least during this era. After breaking through more to the mainstream recently with "Love Galore" and her Maroon 5 collaboration, hopefully bigger things are in store for this lady in the future ~ --- 29. Oh Wonder - Ultralife Chart run: (5-6-6-7-x) 4 weeks Hit singles: 07 Ultralife (39-11-9-8-7-12-17-29-40-x) 9 weeks 41 High on Humans (41-47-x) 2 weeks I first discovered Oh Wonder through "Body Gold" which I really enjoyed back in 2015 but it was the joyous summery vibes of "Ultralife" that finally persuaded me to listen to an album of theirs. I really enjoyed listening to this album on my breaks at work because it put me in a good mood but I haven't listened to it in a long while now so it'll just have to settle for scraping the top 30. --- 28. Kasabian - For Crying Out Loud Chart run: (1-3-3-3-4-6-8-10-x) 8 weeks Hit singles: 19 You're In Love With a Psycho (27-22-23-19-25-36-41-39-42-50-x) 10 weeks 26 Bless This Acid House (27-26-37-x) 3 weeks This is actually the first Kasabian album that I've ever heard but I enjoyed the singles from their last album so much that I decided to change that this time around. It was a fun rock album that I enjoyed for a couple of months and got my fair share of plays from but I've not gone back to it since Summer so I guess you could say it was pretty forgettable in the grand scheme of things. It's still an enjoyable album though and worthy of a spot on my EOY countdown. --- 27. J. Cole - 4 Your Eyez Only Chart run: (3-3-3-3-3-6-6-7-7-5-5-6-7-7-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-9-9-9-10-x) 26 weeks Hit singles: 09 Deja Vu (24-16-9-12-15-25-31-43-48-x) 9 weeks 47 Neighbors (47-x) 1 week Another album that largely benefitted from a weak release schedule at the beginning of the year hence the massively long chart run but fairly low placing here on my EOY countdown. I became a big fan of J. Cole during his "2014 Forest Hills Drive" era ("Apparently" was even a top three hit for me) but this was a little bit of a disappointment in comparison. It's still a very good album and has soundtracked many wintery walks home from school but I haven't listened to it in quite a while now. --- 26. Fifth Harmony - Fifth Harmony Chart run: (2-3-3-5-5-7-8-9-9-9-10-x) 11 weeks Hit singles: 04 Down (8-6-4-5-5-8-12-25-39-x) 9 weeks 36 He Like That (36-50-x) 2 weeks As with Kasabian, this is actually the first album I've ever heard before from Fifth Harmony. I was pleasantly surprised because I thought they would be the sort of act that have banging singles from time to time but albums would be largely made up of filler. However, I thought this was all pretty strong and I really enjoyed listening to it on holiday when I went to Venice in August. There were plenty of single choices on the album in my opinion ("Make You Mad" being my favourite) so it's such a shame they haven't done very well commercially this era, I hope this doesn't spell the end for them as a four-piece :( ---
November 28, 20177 yr The album chart is nice so far! Can't wait for the rest of your year-end lists! In fact, I might start doing my year-end list next week, but I'm thinking about it.
November 28, 20177 yr I like For Crying Out Loud and 4 Your Eyez Only Need to hear Broken Machine and I enjoyed NBT's self-titled debut.
November 29, 20177 yr Nice to see Oh Wonder and Kasabian here! Both great artists, I've heard the Kasabian album and it sounds great!
November 29, 20177 yr I've only heard Fifth Harmony's album so far, it was a definite step down from 7/27 and even Reflection although much better than I expected after Down!
November 30, 20177 yr 4 Your Eyez Only is such a brilliant album  It didn't really have many obvious singles but it was sure nice to listen to. I did give For Crying Out Loud a listen. YILWAP & Comeback Kid are both great tracks. Fifth Harmony was alright but such a step-down from their previous album. They really miss Camila I think. Although they did still do well in my charts.
November 30, 20177 yr Author The album chart is nice so far! Can't wait for the rest of your year-end lists! In fact, I might start doing my year-end list next week, but I'm thinking about it. Thanks for the lovely comment, looking forward to reading it if you decide to do one :cheer: I like For Crying Out Loud and 4 Your Eyez Only Need to hear Broken Machine and I enjoyed NBT's self-titled debut. NBT's debut album is definitely far stronger in my opinion but there are still enough highlights on BM to make it a worthwhile listen. Let me know if you get around to hearing it!! Thank you Dalek! Nice to see Oh Wonder and Kasabian here! Both great artists, I've heard the Kasabian album and it sounds great! I hope Oh Wonder continue to get support in the future, I don't want them to be one of those one album wonder indie bands  Thanks for commenting Pete! I've only heard Fifth Harmony's album so far, it was a definite step down from 7/27 and even Reflection although much better than I expected after Down! I'd probably love both of those albums then as I was shocked at how good this album was. Down is a banger too but not as good as the likes of Worth It & All In My Head (Flex) Thanks for commenting Joseph!! 4 Your Eyez Only is such a brilliant album  It didn't really have many obvious singles but it was sure nice to listen to. I did give For Crying Out Loud a listen. YILWAP & Comeback Kid are both great tracks. Fifth Harmony was alright but such a step-down from their previous album. They really miss Camila I think. Although they did still do well in my charts.I agree about the lack of singles choice/highlights but it was just a lovely listen, can't wait to see what he brings next and I hope it isn't far away  YILWAP is (one of?) my favourite ever Kasabian tracks now, definitely the big highlight of the album for me! Thanks for commenting Lewis!!
November 30, 20177 yr Author 25. Ed Sheeran - Divide Chart run: (1-1-1-1-1-2-2-2-2-3-5-5-5-7-9-x) 15 weeks Hit singles: 02 Galway Girl (2-3-4-4-7-10-12-20-24-30-39-43-x) 12 weeks 04 Shape of You (5-4-6-6-10-17-18-22-27-36-39-43-x) 12 weeks 36 Castle on the Hill (38-36-45-49-x) 4 weeks It seems Ed Sheeran fatigue has well and truly hit me. 'x' was an EOY top three album for me and even this spent five weeks at the top spot on my personal chart but actually ends up as the second lowest #1 of the year here (ahead of only Kasabian :o). I liked this album a lot for the first month or so but quickly tired once I realised how omnipresent Ed was going to be this era and now I can't stand to hear songs like "Shape of You" despite being huge hits for me when they first debuted. Hopefully he'll take a bit of a break now and come back better than ever in a couple of years... --- 24. Imagine Dragons - Evolve Chart run: (4-4-5-6-9-10-10-x) 7 weeks Hit singles: 07 Believer (14-7-9-18-22-30-37-41-50-x) 9 weeks 36 Whatever It Takes (36-42-50-x) 3 weeks 42 Thunder (42-47-50-x) 3 weeks Well, it turned out that Evolve was no multi-week #1 on my personal chart like their two previous albums but it was still a decent effort from them and had a few highlights which I still enjoy returning to now. It does have highs as high as their other albums but there is no filler and eveything on the album is worth a listen in my opinion. Still a band I enjoyed very much so bring on the next album! --- 23. Paramore - After Laughter Chart run: (1-2-2-3-5-7-9-10-x) 8 weeks Hit singles: 03 Hard Times (4-3-4-5-5-8-22-35-x) 8 weeks This is the first Paramore album I've ever heard but I couldn't miss it after how much I enjoyed "Hard Times" as the lead single. I've been a casual fan of them in the past, especially of their big chart hits but this is definitely the most I've loved them as a band yet. The big highlights for me are "Idle Worship" and "Fake Happy" but there aren't really any bad tracks. I haven't listened to it in a little while though so can't justify giving it a space in the top 20 unfortunately. --- 22. Paloma Faith - The Architect Chart run: (3-3-...) 2 weeks (so far) Hit singles: 07 Guilty (18-7-7-8-10-...) 5 weeks (so far) The Architect is the most recent album in my EOY this year and does pretty well to come this high already after just two weeks in my chart. Up until two years ago or so, I had never heard a Paloma album but I really got into "Only Love Can Hurt Like This" and decided to take the plunge and purchase all three of her albums. After massively enjoying those, I'd been hyped for this for a long while and it hasn't disappointed. It's a bit samey at times so it's certainly not my favourite album of hers but there are absolutely no duds and she sounds brilliant on the entire album. A worthy album to finally give her that elusive #1 in the official albums chart :cheer: --- 21. Katy Perry - Witness Chart run: (1-3-5-6-7-8-x) 6 weeks Hit singles: 01 Chained to the Rhythm (1-1-1-1-1-4-5-6-6-10-18-28-37-49-x) 14 weeks 07 Bon Appetit (25-25-10-7-12-18-18-19-31-48-x) 10 weeks 12 Swish Swish (48-30-32-36-48-xx-14-22-26-15-12-17-27-43-x) 13 weeks Oops, I've always been an absolutely massive fan of Katy Perry but this is definitely the era where she has started to lose me a little. I'm not going to pretend I don't enjoy listening to this from time to time and I won't deny that it has some massive pop moments (CTTR was a fantastic lead single and I love the likes of "Mind Maze" and "Tsunami" in terms of album tracks) but the album is way too long and most of it is filler at the end of the day. Her poor TV performances and slightly irritating personality during promo for the album didn't exactly help and therefore I can't say I've been the biggest fan of her this era to be completely honest (I don't think I'm the only one either :drama: :o)
December 1, 20177 yr I was really disappointed with Kasabian's latest, have barely gone back to it since :( Fifth harmony surprised me in actually being solid, I really thought it was going to be dreadful  angel is still a 0/10 and loogersh killed all my hype for the album so I only listened to it like a couple of months after release! Evolve and after laughter are both really good and the highs on both albums slay *.* The architect <3 it's a bit overlong but I adore it! Kings & Queens is my fave of the album tracks <3 Agreed completely with witness and Katy in general this year </3 CTTR & Miss You More still slay, roulette/pendulum bop and she can keep the rest :(
