Eugh, 'Merry Christmas Everybody' is one of my worst Christmas songs ever :(

That 'It's CHRIIIIISTMAAAASSS' bit goes through me. Confused why they'd play that and 'New Rules' over 'Santa Tell Me', but there you go.

Greg announcing Santa Tell Me as a re-entry and therefore not playing it :drama:

Not his fault. The producer chooses which to play.

Biography

Streatham, South London-born grime artist Dave (aka Santan Dave) may only have been 16 when he entered the grime spotlight, but his conscious lyrical style made him sound well beyond his years. Growing up, Dave was inspired to pursue art in some form. Taking cues from his older brothers, he initially tried his hand at animation before moving on to piano before finally settling on becoming a fully-fledged grime MC; unfortunately, his brothers would end up serving lengthy prison sentences. To cope with the drastic alteration to their lives, Dave burrowed even deeper into his music, causing him to develop a socially aware form of wordplay that set him apart from his peers. Despite starting to write bars around the age of ten, it was six years later that Dave would make his first appearance, freestyling on an underground grime channel, Bl@ckbox, in 2015. In January of the following year Dave returned with his first music video/single "JKYL+HYD," cementing his reputation for deep subject matter and ambitious lyrics. In the following months, Dave delivered two key freestyles on BBC Radio 1. The first was on Semtex's 1Xtra show and the second on Charlie Sloth's Fire in the Booth. A number of singles followed, including a standout collaboration with West London's own rising star, AJ Tracey, on "Thiago Silva." By September Dave was ready to drop his first EP, Six Paths. The release was a success in its own right, but gained even more attention when Canadian rapper Drake remixed the single "Wanna Know," bringing Dave's sound to an American audience. - Wikipedia

Top 10 after Christmas for this please  Bastille can do no wrong but this is Craig David's best in literally years
This is certainly an interesting track! :o Nice to see it pushing its way past the Christmas tracks!

I suppose 'Barking' sounds like quite a sweet love song on first listen. Was expecting it to be a grime song as it says GRM Daily on the video (but I suppose GRM Daily doesn't just do grime, that's probably why they changed it to GRM Daily from Grime Daily).

Biography

Combining a voice that sounds made for classic soul with cutting-edge music, Khalid is a singer/songwriter from El Paso, Texas. Raised by a military family, Khalid lived in Germany and upstate New York before settling in Texas. He was first inspired to make music by his mother, who was a singer and loved '90s R&B artists such as Brandy and TLC. While still a teenager, he began making music in 2015, incorporating influences as wide-ranging as Frank Ocean, India.Arie, Alt-J, and Father John Misty in the songs he posted online. He eventually connected with the producer SykSense, who, along with Tunji Ige and Smash David, worked on Khalid's bittersweet breakout single "Location." Released in mid-2016, the song hit the Top 10 of Billboard's Hot R&B Songs chart the following January. Another single, "Hopeless," preceded Khalid's debut album American Teen, which arrived in March 2017. - iTunes

Biography

Christopher Anton "Chris" Rea (/ˈriːə/ REE-ə; born 4 March 1951) is an English singer-songwriter and guitarist, recognisable for his distinctive, husky voice and slide guitar playing. The British Hit Singles & Albums stated that Rea was "one of the most popular UK singer-songwriters of the late 1980s. He was already a major European star by the time he finally cracked the UK Top 10 with his 18th chart entry; The Road to Hell (Part 2)". As of 2009, he has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide.

In the U.S. he is best known for the 1978 hit song "Fool (If You Think It's Over)" that charted No.12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent three weeks at No.1 on the U.S. Billboard Adult Contemporary chart. This success earned him the Grammy Award nomination for the Best New Artist in 1979. His other hit songs include, "I Can Hear Your Heartbeat", "Stainsby Girls", "On the Beach" (U.S. Adult Contemporary No.9), "Let's Dance", "Josephine", "Driving Home for Christmas", "Tell Me There's a Heaven", "Auberge", "Looking for the Summer", "Winter Song", "Nothing To Fear", "Julia", "Working On It" (Mainstream Rock No. 1), and "If You Were Me", a duet with Elton John.

Two of his studio albums, The Road to Hell and Auberge, topped the UK Albums Chart. Rea was nominated three times for the Brit Award for Best British Male Artist: in 1988, 1989 and 1990. The book Guinness Rockopedia described him as a "gravel-voiced guitar stalwart". - Wikipedia

Chris Rea  One of my all-time favourite Christmas songs!

Speaking of which, I wonder whether Boney M will get a look in the Top 40 over the coming weeks?

Edited by Petelehem

Late to the party but amazing for One More Sleep to return!! I'm loving this festive-packed chart. It's missing Kelly though.
Always good to see Driving Home get a new peak, wish Stacey Solomon’s would chart also
