Oh I forgot but I actually think that Rak-Su will do very well, as long as their streaming picks up!

Second, debatably third.

Debatably? What’s debatable about the fact she’s already had “Problem” and “Bang Bang”?

With Years & Years, I can legitimately see them actually having a flop second era even though I really hope they don't.

Agreed, I worry after the excellent “Meteorite” flopped :(

this is probably the most shallow-minded post i've seen all year

I disagree, it’s an opinion based on an impression of current popular culture and it’s effects on the public.

Maybe because she wasn't all that prominent on Bang Bang? Although I'd still consider it a #1 for her (& Nicki)

JT will grab number 1 this Friday! That all that matters :)

Pink’s album will continue to sell well but she won’t get another top 10 single from it.

Dido will release a new album but I will be the only person who notices.

Arctic Monkeys will get a 6th no.1 album and actually do fairly well despite their hiatus.

Shape Of You will feature on either Now 99 or Now 100-staying phresh.

You have to chart before July if you hope to make the Year End top 40 singles.

Ed Sheeran will win loads of Brits at the expense of loads of actually talented artists.

Rita Ora will finally release her second album after delaying it once more. It will chart well but be considered fairly underwhelming in terms of quality.

Anne-Marie and Louisa Johnson will finally release flop albums.

A very judgemental, patronising opinion with unfounded assumptions.

People always say things like that though, through times... just replace grime with whatever genre was popular with youth at the time

streaming has made and will make music taste change even quicker

I disagree in terms of genres if not artists, tropical pop, the pitched vocal drop and future bass have been around for a while in the charts now as chart trends.

With dance and hip hop there is little progression in styles at the minute going on I would say, for dance it mostly has followed the same pattern all year with future bass/slow bpm dance and some occasional deep/tech house whereas with hip hop most of it has had minimal productions and been from the trap sub-genre.

I agree Anne-Marie & Louisa’s albums will be very underwhelming. Probabaly in a similar way to Zara’s album, overly hyped and an all round let down.

Agreed. There is nothing worse than music snobbery, it just makes you sound stupid.

My predictions

Ariana Grande will have at least 1 #1 single as has been already predicted. Probably 2 #1 singles.

More minimal trap hits coming from the US especially at first but less by the end of the year.

Urban though will be the main chart force throughout the year, as it has been at the end of this year.

Dance will remain not a significant chart force, although will recover by the end of 2018

Of the dance in the charts deep/tech house will have a revival and future bass will start to die out as a trend

As future bass dies out, Martin Garrix goes back to making underground tunes like 'Pizza' that don't make the chart.

Before that though he will have his final future bass hit with Zara Larsson as she has talked about wanting to do a collaboration with him.

Very little indie will make the top 40 again.

Raye finally gets a top 40 hit on her own. Possibly with the help of Charli XCX.

The trend of releasing remixes to try and delay ACR for a hit track continues.

Errrr, hasn't she just done that?

With the help of Mr Eazi yes but then he said "on her own, with the help of Charli XCX" so who knows

Ed Sheeran will get two more number ones. Divide will be the biggest selling album of 2018.

Ariana will get a number one. So will Justin Timberlake and Justin Bieber.

A UK rap song will get to number one.

Big year for rap in general.

A few big dance hits but not much will cross over other than the established acts.

Big Shaq will follow up with a top ten hit but it won't last long.

Jess Glynne will get a top ten but will comparatively underperform.

The Chainsokers will attempt to comeback but will flop.

Avicii will have another top ten hit.

We will get slightly more number ones next year but still less than 20.

If a UK rap artist does get to #1, I hope it is actually with a rap song. Not a pop-dance hybrid like Heatwave.

Justin Timberlake will kick off the year with a huge #01.

Ariana will be massively successful and dominate the summer.

Gaga will release new music to decent success.

Jess Glynne will have a big return single, then flop with the rest.

Years & Years will do an Emeli Sande :(
