I thought it was a really great show. Jack Whitehall is not a natural presenter, but he did a good job, had the right balance between gags etc.

Looks like they upped the budget on the award presenters as well? Harry Kane co-presenting an award was random AF tho.

I literally can't think of a more random presenting-duo than Harry Kane and Camila Cabello!

Yes Dua Lipa!! Although my mum did point out her feminism speech celebrating females being able to win awards was a tad ironic considering this was the solo female category - the only female only category

also what was that first song JT sang?

'Midnight Summer Jam' was the first song JT performed.

So could Liam Gallagher
Liam couldn't though... it was a tribute to the Victims of the Manchester bombings. Not really the time to promote something new if it's not warranted...

I really enjoyed the show this year! Jack was a great host. His roasting of the popstars was fantastic! Particularly the one he said about Sam Smith "For those who find Adele a bit upbeat, he's the guy for you" or something

Stormzy out performing Ed in the awards was a pleasant surprise! So deserved

I thought all the performances were very good! Bar Kendrick's (and that annoys me a great amount... why do ITV bother getting rap artists like Kanye and Kendrick to perform if they just mute them?) And RNB Mans performance was bland af. But everyone else was great!

JT was my fave performance followed by Rita (before Liam popped up and sucked the life out of it), Stormzy and Dua!

Little Mix actually being first on the Best Vid votes though...

Was it really not that obvious that I was joking with practically 90% of my comments yesterday?

Why wasn't there an Icon or Llifetime Achievement award (or whatever it's called) this year?
Really good show from the bits I've seen, wouldn't turn my nose up at any of the winners. Seeing Dua and Stormzy as the two big winners of the night really makes me happy, I feel like they've represented British music so positively this year in a way that has kinda changed the game. Stormzy has obviously been the poster child for the rise in British urban and Dua feels like the first British female in a while who could really enter the whole "big pop female" realm internationally (not really including Adele who kind of touches a different and more mature market).
Yes Jack was a fab host! Far better than having Emma Willis and her 83rd gig of the year. He wasn't afraid to have a jibe at people which made him actually funny rather having forced read off the autocue with little conviction jokes that barely landed like some hosts.

Agreed re Dua. I reckon next year, if she can get her 2nd album out and launch it with a similar sized hit to 'New Rules' then the global success awards is hers and Ed won't get it "by default" as someone said earlier in the thread. I'm not the biggest Dua fan, but I find myself rooting for her and feel proud of all that she's accomplished. I LOVE how she's managed to turn the era around.

I’m yet to see Justin’s performance (youtube? no?) but tbh I already think this year has already been one of the best for performances recently.

Dua was amazing and, while it was a shame she didn’t perform a medley with IDGAF, I think she chose not to because she was already nervous about performing at the Brits and didn’t want to add an extra song to NR.

I surprisingly enjoyed Rag’n’Bone Man & Jorja’s duet too, she fit into Skin really well - very glad they sung that instead of Human although a newer single from either artist (or a mix of both) would’ve been better in hindsight

Ed Sheeran took me by surprise, I never gave much listen to Supermarket Flowers before but now that’s been stuck in my head more than any other performance

As always with the Brits performances there were highs & lows, but does anyone else feel like the ‘lows’ were... higher than they’ve been previously? I could also be thinking this because Fergie’s butchering of the US national anthem this week has made literally every single other artist in the world sound 10x better

Like or loathe Ed Sheeran, the success he has had internationally and nationally in the last 12 months cant be faulted. So at the least he deserved the Global success award.
Performance of ye night for me was by Midge!!

I'm glad SOMEBODY other than Jase gets me when I'm in one of those moods

Also I agree with you Pippa, Ed did deserve that recognition, whether you like him or not.

I've known you long enough so there'd be something wrong if I didn't get your sarcasm :P
