February 11, 20214 yr AS IF Dua never got any negative press!? :') She was roasted for her private holiday in Mexico which never broke lockdown regulations, and took place while leisure travel was allowed in Mexico and the US Rita, on the other hand, was caught breaking UK’s restrictions, more than once and paid a restaurant to break the regulations. So yes, based on those facts, Rita does deserve more negative press than Dua. Edited February 11, 20214 yr by k👠th
February 11, 20214 yr So should Dua Lipa, but it's easier to come for Rita in some people's eyes I guess? Why exactly should Dua Lipa lay low? What COVID-19 restrictions did she break? LMAOOOO!!! Be careful coz you're spilling your tea everywhere and it's BOILING! I wouldn't interpret a baseless assumption as tea Absolutely. Both have behaved very badly recently, and it does seem strange only Rita is getting all the negative press. "only Rita getting all the negative press", Dua "behaved very badly"? In what world? La La land?
February 11, 20214 yr Yeah agreed there. Dua Lipa at worst has just bragged about being able to do things all us peasants are currently unable to, which is kinda part & parcel of being a celeb on social media anyway. Rita knowingly not only ignored mandatory quarantine but threw a party for 30 people AND bribed someone to conceal the evidence. It's about a bad an offence you could possibly carry out.
February 11, 20214 yr The difference is that Rita's was a one-off event. Nobody is excusing what she did but it happened once, she apologised, and the media are continuing to tear into her for the same thing many weeks on. What is left to say? Dua's not done anything as bad but her lack of social distancing and constant travelling is a terrible example to set in a pandemic regardless of the local restrictions. I don't think we'll all ever agree on that, though, so I'm making this my last comment on Dua in this thread

I wouldn't interpret a baseless assumption as tea "only Rita getting all the negative press", Dua "behaved very badly"? In what world? La La land? Could you maybe give it a rest? I've already said what I wanted to say in the other thread, so I won't repeat it on here, but Dua has given a terrible example in the last few months. But then again, even if Dua threw a big party every night you would still be like "but she works so hard so she deserves it!!".

The way some posters on this site have been spewing needless negativity and hate on Dua Lipa recently is not acceptable and I will say my piece! If she broke regulations and threw a party every night I would absolutely call her out for it, but the digs people are having at Dua in this thread and the one in the Dua forum have been based on unrealistic expectations of how to behave during a pandemic and false truths!

Let me make this very clear, I don't hate (on) Dua at all. She is one of my most listened to artists, I adore her and her music, have tickets to see her tour etc. There is a difference between hating and just calling out disappointment. I'll never see my faves as flawless, and will call out my disappointment when I see something happening.

She is one of my most listened to artists, I adore her and her music, have tickets to see her tour etc. There is a difference between hating and just calling out disappointment. I'll never see my faves as flawless, and will call out my disappointment when I see something happening. I understand that! All I'm saying is don't believe everything you read or hold Dua to unrealistic expectations. She has absolutely not been travelling constantly like people are claiming. To give a time line of events: March to July 2020 - Dua and Anwar isolated in London Airbnb flat July 2020 - They moved to the US when restrictions allowed them to fly there. They flew on a private plane and spent isolation in a St Lucia. She was pre-tested and adhered to all protocols! The prime minister of Barbados even said this: "I got to see her when she first came, amazing lady. When we opened up the country on June 4, we said if you want to come to the country you have to be pre-tested and you have to stay at a specific hotel. “So she applied, she was pre-tested and luckily for her, she was able to come down on a private plane and she went into a villa at Sugar Beach in isolation,” the PM said. All the proper protocols were put in place, she arrived on the property, her temperature was taken, the staff had PPEs, the staff were being tested on a regular basis. There was tremendous amount of social distancing, the time I saw her, she had her mask on and everybody was staying their distances away,” the Prime Minister continued. "The key thing was for me and I asked her: ‘So why did you come to Saint Lucia?’ She said because Saint Lucia was requiring people to be pre-tested and that seems like the common sense thing to do. https://www.loopnewsbarbados.com/content/si...tion-st-lucia-2 She flew to London in October for work and filmed all her Levitating award show performances, Studio 2054 in the same locations with same team of dancers and filming crew. She also filmed the Fever music video and the tabloids tried to run fake news that it broke regulations and Dua actually went through the effort of calling them out about it and getting her legal team involved! In January she takes a private vacation in Mexico the neighboring country where she lives with her family and Anwar's family and suddenly this narrative that she's a superspreader and constantly traveling when she should be at home!!1! starts and everyone just hops on the bandwagon.
February 14, 20214 yr It says it all that THIS is the press Rita's getting TWO MONTHS after the news broke: "The Masked Singer fans call for Nicola Roberts to replace Rita Ora on main panel" "Masked Singer's Rita Ora 'snubbed' for spin-off show after lockdown rule break shame" -> this is quite categorically not true, she's filming The Voice Australia and can't be in two places at once. Makes sense that the singer will prioritise the singing show over The Masked Dancer Nobody's defending what Rita did (it was a really stupid error of judgement and she deserved to be called out for it!) but the press she's getting for it two months later is ridiculous. All you have to do is search Rita name into the "news" section of Google and the types of articles that appear make the agenda clear. Covid or not, Rita's press is mostly negative right now, one criticism or another (including for her Masked Singer outfits, we love sexism). Seems the media have learnt nothing from Caroline Flack. At the end of the day, 2 months have passed, the past can't be changed, Rita's given an apology and I think she's been called out more than enough by even her biggest fans. What more can be achieved, short of her losing her job? I think there's a point where stuff goes too far and the angry mob of social media, fuelled by the media, won't stop until one mistake gets someone's life ruined. This is my whole issue with cancel culture in general. Let's look at this, posted by Jameela Jamil a while ago: It's 100% fair to call Rita out - she deserved it! She f***ed up and needed to answer for her mistake. Cancelling her, calling for her to lose her job, that's a step too far in my personal opinion.
February 18, 20214 yr Rita Ora is headlining Mardi Gras in March: https://attitude.co.uk/article/rita-ora-ann...i-gras-1/24522/
February 18, 20214 yr Rita Ora is headlining Mardi Gras in March: https://attitude.co.uk/article/rita-ora-ann...i-gras-1/24522/ Brilliant! :D Elsewhere - "'Dancing On Ice' hit by complaints over Rita Ora performance"
February 19, 20214 yr Yeah it's ridic. The difference in press between her and Dua is CRAZY. I assume the press just need someone else to take down and Rita is an easy target right now. Also those complaints from 'Dancing On Ice' are very "I don't like Alesha's necklace" lmao... stfu.
February 19, 20214 yr The press are definitely taking it too far with Rita. I recall them also having a field day when she released the collab with Chris Brown, and her relationships with Calvin and Rob Kardashian, the cheating claims were all over the tabloids. They have always had it out for her, like they do with other big UK female personalities (see also Cheryl and Tulisa for example). Dua, while a major UK star, hasn't done anything scandalous or out of the ordinary for the press to be on her case. Edited February 19, 20214 yr by k👠th

February 20, 20214 yr I really do feel for Rita, she has rubbed me the wrong way in the past. But it's crazy the double standards in the press - slowthai breakdown about his award was ridic and he got #1 album whereas Rita has apologised, done everything in her power to put things right and people still want blood. I am worried her days of getting a hit and support again are over but I really hope I'm just being overly cynical.

Rita is a much bigger artist though so ganders more press, she’s featured on many Family TV shows. I love the EP don’t hold any grudges but I don’t feel sorry for her, having a party in the middle of a pandemic and then trying to cover it up paying people off... It was rule breaking to the extreme and I don’t think her travelling here there and everywhere has helped her either even if it is for work on The Voice AUS.
