Katy Perry is an Embarrassment. Album was shocking. JT is smashing it and just about to do a massive worldwide hit tour. TALENT ALWAYS WINS

The N Sync boybander is now talent? lol

JT's album is also shockingly bad. It's why it's flopping, just like Katy's.

Check back on the press. They are FAR WORSE ON WOMEN. Look at what Katy's press was like. WAAAAY worse than anything JT has got. WAAAY worse.

Taste is subjective. Hell, I think Drake's "God's Plan" is abysmal, but clearly some people like it or it wouldn't be number 1, and that's fine - not for me to get hissy about. Can people please get over the fact some of us like one thing, and some of us don't?

Personally I love "Man Of The Woods", I haven't binged a JT album like I have this one.

Not true at all. He has got so much crap for being a white male and apparently being a culture vulture etc.

NSYNC were massive and yes he is very talented. He is my idol and it's hard to see the press at the moment etc. Just don't like seeing the constant negativity on a site I have followed for years. Higher and higher alone is better than most songs put out lately. Just happy he's not following trend and can still do well over 20 years later.

Very fair point, I just couldn't take the constant hate directed at JT.

Very surprised that Lady Gaga had a bigger boost than JT

The percentage of sales boost means nothing, because if the artist was selling 1 copies before the show and 100 copies after the show, he as a 100% boost, while if the artist was selling 200 copies before the show and 2.000 copies after the show, he "only" has a 10% boost while selling way more than the first example.

Basically, the poorest the sales were before the Superbowl, the higher the sales boost percentage can be.

Whilst your reasoning is spot on your maths is terrible 🙈

Lmao yes sorry, just realised I got lost with the percentages

It's not common that album is released on the same week than SB happens though. It's not really comparable.

Exactly, for example, Beyonce had no new music out when she did the Super Bowl. BEYONCE wouldn't drop until the end of the year.

Last year Gaga climbed from #88 to #11 in the album charts off the back of the Superbowl.

It's release week for JT so his hype should be even bigger, yet he's only sold 3.3k since Monday's mids...

Terrible sales for Justin - thought he would have done 40k on name alone!!

The Greatest Showman 28,137 x 15,561 Man of The Woods

It's going to be 2:1 on Friday then. :yahoo:  :w00t:

Rudimental and Jess still at number 2 in the singles chart.

Interesting commentary on the JT backlash with some discussion of album sales: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-42959415

There's no refuge from the lyrics, which in many places engender the same mix of emotions you'd confront upon walking in on your parents having sex

I mean, I'm no fan of Pitchfork and their awful site but that is commentary GOLD!

My favourite to date is on The Spinoff where they renamed the album "Man Who Went Camping Once"(!) and stated:

I don’t know why this album is called Man of the Woods. The whole thing is an attempt by Timberlake to go back to his roots but it doesn’t feel like his memory goes back beyond about 2005. More accurate titles would include: Man Who Did a Photoshoot in the Woods, Man Who Did a Photoshoot in Front of a Green Screen and Was Then Placed in Front of the Woods, Man Who Went Camping Once, and Man Who Has Photos of the Woods in His Apartment.
