eeek I'm nervous! The rumour mill has been incredibly quiet outside of Kris Marshall (too bland) and Pheobe Waller-Bridge (too busy) so I have NO idea what to expect. That possibly leads to me to expect an unknown (like Matt Smith was). I'm fully expecting they'll be a man too.

Richard Ayoade's been my dream casting for The Doctor, even during the Matt Smith era, but given that he's liking to be busy with The Crystal Maze, I doubt they'll get him for the role.

I can't see Kris Marshall getting the role, as I don't think he's the right sort for the role, and I can't see it being a woman. I imagine it'll be someone more akin to David Tennant ie someone who's been in a few notable critically acclaimed roles without being a household name in their own right.

Men's Final, so it will be a man :( White and middle class no doubt.

Since its after the tennis, it could be a long wait, if it goes into a fifth set with tie breaks

I think you're getting confused. The role of the 13th Doctor is not part of the prize for winning Wimbledon :P

Good thing it's not announced after the mixed doubles final.

Having said that, a series of Doctor Who with two incarnations of the Doctor simultaneously would be an interesting take, and a rather good way for Chris Chibnall to set out his tenure as showrunner as different to those of Moffat/Davies.

They would have gone for the men's final no matter what, it's more likelty to get ore buzz and viewers so would be a better lead in.
Very much expecting it to be the first female doctor actually, the show would get HUGE free publicity if they announced a female doctor. And Missy proved that time lords being female can work very well.

Same here, my thinking it has something to do with the first Doctor, which Peter Capaldi met at the end of Series 10, which sort of brings it back to the beginning, its like a reset switch :heehee: which leads to a series of female Doctors. I think Chris Chibnall will be great as a front show runner. And the list of female actors it has attracted on the IMDB report, I'm sure Russell T. Davies is the producer of Chewing Gum as I read it somewhere, cancel that its Cucumber.

I cannot imagine the Chewing Gum actress as doctor - she is too young and TOO comedic.

If they got Margerie from GoT though oh my god that would be :oO

The most disappointing for me, and I don't think I will bother watching, is Chris Marshell, the dumb one from My Family.

KRIS Marshall has been in more than just My Family and proved he would be more than capable.

Although if he can get you to stop watching DW and, thus, save another thread from your inane ramblings then he'd be the best Doctor ever.

He is a very beige actor, sorry. Very very boring and seems quite gormless. The only roles he was tolerable in were Doctor Zhivago and Love Actually. He is too well-knoen to be doctor too and would take people oot of suspension of disbelief.
Kris Marshall would be an incredibly boring choice and would start the new era off on the wrong step. He's far too bland and lacks the character that the role needs. It needs a bold actor in the role, not someone who could play any old standard normal middle-aged man role.
