I would have said VB every year riiight up until relistening to them this year. Northern Star is a masterpeice. VB is very good rnb, but the robot vocals on some of the tracks are atrocious. The fanmade second album is WAY better. So, Northern Star.

1. Northern Star

2. VB

Also, the album title is VB - not Victoria Beckham.

I voted for 'Northern Star'. Melanie C was so lucky with the amount of talent enlisted for that album.

Emma's 'A Girl Like Me' seems a bit budget by comparison.

If 'Free Me' had been Emma's debut, she could've outshone Melanie C and Geri.

No it’s not :’) It’s self-titled as “Victoria Beckham”. “VB” is a logo.

Inner sleeve of the A Mind of Its Own single says: ‘Also available the album “Victoria Beckham”’.

Lol Northern Star is a masterpiece. Mel C is more talented than Emma. Free Me is ok, but not overshadowing ANYTHING.

Are you sure?? The album was referred to as VB on the official charts too.

If you look on Official Charts it’s referred to as “Victoria Beckham” on there too!

The VB logo is meant to be a stylisation of her artist name (it also appears on the Not Such an Innocent Girl cover). “Victoria Beckham” is written down the side of the front of the CD (underneath the plastic tray) and also on the spine (representing the album’s title, but also serving as a clarification of her artist name).

Fans do like to refer to it as “VB” as a shortening though, more for the sake of convenience than having to type “Victoria Beckham, as in her debut album” or “Victoria’s self-titled album” every time it’s referred to, lol. But officially it’s called “Victoria Beckham”.

For the record I’ve never really liked self-titled albums, and I wish she/the label had been more imaginative! I think Schizophonic is the best solo album title... the theme of split sound (uptempo/downtempo) paired with two different artworks was clever. Northern Star is my second fave title!

As for the topic at hand, my favourite debut album is Northern Star.

I thought Victoria's album should've had a dark mysterious name.

It's crazy to think Schizophonic was the only solo album go have a completely unique name and not be self titled or named after an album track (I don't really look on Hot and Stages as unique names)

Northern Star is the best title

I also hate self-titled albums, very pretentious. It SHOULD have been called VB then, and that's how I know it, or Innocence Unchained.

Lol Northern Star is a masterpiece. Mel C is more talented than Emma. Free Me is ok, but not overshadowing ANYTHING.

You keep living your (false) truth my love, you do that :teresa:

Northern Star is the best debut, but not, BY A CLEAR MILE, the best solo album. It is probably the most special one for the general fans due to sentimental value (the most successful solo album at the hight of the solo careers, Mel C's first, and the fact that it had a great production team and most tracks are good) but when it comes down to it, it is not really anything new...

That honour belongs to Free Me, followed by Life in Mono as the best and most original of albums. And Emma is clearly the better singer and lyricist. Like, Mel C hasn't developed AT ALL since Northern Star and you can see that NS was indeed very good because it had top notch producers. Emma managed to grow, develop and create something special with limited budgets.

Plus, look at the most recent live performances. Emma is at least the better singer, even if Mel C has much more practice.

Just putting things into perspective here, don't @ me :yahoo:
