I think everything she's done in the last few years when dipping her toes in the water is indicative that she doesn't have the budget or the resources to seek decent producers.

Exactly. These weren't recording sessions where she recorded several songs and she picked the best of the bunch; she probably recorded Summer of Love and released it, etc. She's not going to fund extensive recording sessions for herself, especially if there's no end point to it (ie an album).

I do agree with those points but I wonder could a label like bmg make something happen for Dannii. I like to think dannii is still someway marketable, maybe I'm deluded but she would have a chance of having a Claire Richards/Louise/Bananarama type album success with multi formats.

Look at it this way: if we're deluded - we're all deluded together since we're all on the antiquated platform known as Buzzjack.

I just worry that Dannii never kept her music catalogue alive during all these years. She really only started doing it here and there post X Factor, but a bit late. Just frustrating!
It’s been forever since we had a listening party in the forum - I think we need one for Neon Nights to celebrate 20 years and it’s imminent re-release
Good idea for a listening party we could do neon Nights with a follow up of Kylie collabs.

Love that idea :cheer:

In another world NN re peaks in top 5 and out does her number 8#.

Justice !

Imagine, I’d love to see it back in the Top 40 though as a result of the reissue and reaction it.

Although I’d rather we got a proper re-issue for ‘Girl’ and it beat its tragic and undeserved #57 peak :drama:

We should host the listening party the week the reissue is released.

I'd love to see girl get a new much deserved peak.

If they really worked hard Girl could easily go top 40. But it’s too much of an effort for them.

Girl does deserve good things.

Live date with physical add ons would work!

A NEON NOTE FROM ME...

Twenty years ago ‘Neon Nights’ was released. An album I poured my heart and soul into, with the help of an incredible team of writers and producers.

Pete Tong got the ball rolling for this album, when he invited me to sing ‘Who Do You Love Now?’ I had no idea that it would turn into a whole album - one that captured everything I felt, right at that moment.

As promo started and the singles were hitting the Top Ten, my days were a heady mix of early mornings, long days, late nights, travel, live shows, TV and Radio - and lots of adventures performing to music lovers in Ibiza. It was overwhelming in all the right ways. With ‘I Begin To Wonder’ being my highest chart position in the UK ever, and achieving the most dance chart hits of any female artist, I knew these songs were resonating with a wider audience of pop fans.

Twenty years later I am overwhelmed all over again, that I get to enjoy this album and these songs with my incredible fans and new fans. Thanks to everyone who has shared memories of the album with me. Music always captures a moment in our lives and every time we hear the songs that are important to us, it takes us on a journey, right back to all those feels.

Every beat is injected with a little sparkle that I hope still gets you to a dance-floor, or at least dancing wherever you are.

Dx

It must have been such a whirlwind to not only find herself back in the game, but bigger than she'd ever been. Sounds like it took her by surprise!

Shame it couldn't last beyond the era, but what a time it was.

Always loved how much Dannii celebrates her past success and key moments in her career - it felt for a while that Dannii was the big pop girl during the NN era especially when she was challenging for the #1 spot, she often mentions the fact that IBTW was her biggest chart hit in the UK… if only it could have gone the whole way and reached the top spot.
