May 3, 20187 yr Labour have lost another seat in Sunderland, this time to the Tories. However badly they do Labour cannot lose control of Sunderland.
May 3, 20187 yr Haydock (St Helens) result: Con: 64.1% (+54.0) Lab: 19.6% (-40.4) Grn: 16.3% (+11.3) No UKIP (-23.0) That's a Merseyside seat. That's one unexpected swing. Must be some local issue that spurred it. *edit* was a mistype by the Britain Elects Twitter feed. Labour won it.
May 3, 20187 yr Labour managed to restrict their losses in Sunderland to just a handful. Two gains for the Tories, three for the Lib Dems.
May 3, 20187 yr So far 22 seats won by UKIP four years ago have been declared They have won precisely none of them.
May 4, 20187 yr Lots of rumours that the Lib Dems will gain Richmond-upon-Thames. My nephew had the chance to cast his first vote there after turning 18 in March.
May 4, 20187 yr The smallest majority I'm aware of so far is a Lib Dem gain in Portsmouth by seven votes.
May 4, 20187 yr The Tories have won Knightsbridge and Belgravia. I think we'll struggle to find a less surprising result than that one.
May 4, 20187 yr The Lib Dems won all the seats in Nick Clegg's old constituency. Labour will desperately want to avoid a parliamentary by-election there.
May 4, 20187 yr Author Idealistic NONSENSE The left should work together. In a Lib Tory seat, Labour does it right by NOT fielding candidates. The left is split, but accounts for more voters than the right. Don't diminish Carpline Lucas' vote, or the Lib Dem vote in marginals with Tories, and there we go. Bye bye Tory. I wouldn't describe the LibDem's as part of the Left - perhaps we should be talking in terms of Progressive v Reactionary?
May 4, 20187 yr The Tories have lost Trafford. It must particularly sting for them to have lost Altrincham to the greens! Otherwise no major upsets across GM as Labour lose a handful of seats over its ongoing anti-semitism but gains a few seats along the way. Doesn’t appear to have been a major blow for the Tories nationally
May 4, 20187 yr Author Another stunning 'success' for FPTP... https://democracy.cheltenham.gov.uk/mgElect...mp;RPID=3108398
May 4, 20187 yr Author The Lib Dems won all the seats in Nick Clegg's old constituency. Labour will desperately want to avoid a parliamentary by-election there. Is one more likely there than somewhere else?
May 4, 20187 yr Is one more likely there than somewhere else? Well their MP had the whip withdrawn last year for making disparaging remarks about Michelle McManus, if anything I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet.
May 4, 20187 yr Author Well their MP had the whip withdrawn last year for making disparaging remarks about Michelle McManus, if anything I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet. If everyone were punished for doing that, half the country would be in prison!
May 4, 20187 yr Well their MP had the whip withdrawn last year for making disparaging remarks about Michelle McManus, if anything I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet. He hasn’t attended Westminster for months. I don’t think he’s even made his maiden speech.
