Shawn seems to be struggling this era for some reason

I thought quite the opposite but I may be wrong as I wasn't following him that much before.

"In my blood" is doing pretty good worldwide and I feel like the album is going to open with great numbers, no?

so far I'd say it's done poorly if you compare it to previous singles

many in here thought it was gonna go straight to #1 on release week and didn't even go top 10

in the US it's peaked at #22 so far

'In My Blood' is the only single so far... The other 2 are Instant Grats. Which are performing about as well as expected imo.

'In My Blood' seems to have done pretty well for the reasons Bré has just stated and recovered really brilliantly since first week hype. I feel like he's heading for his 'Dangerous Woman' sort of era, success wise. But we'll see.

recent leads

Stitches #1UK #4US

Treat you better #6UK #6US

There's nothing holding me back #4UK #6US

In my blood #13UK #22US

I don't think he's struggling - IMB is holding up well on both Spotify and I-Tunes - it would be a lot higher on the former if it wasn't for Post Malone clogging up the charts.

LIJ and Youth are doing find too for what they were and i'm sure if the latter is pushed it would do reasonably well.

Also the definition of a hit and how songs sell these days has changed remarkably since Stitches debuted especially in the UK.

I mean it's worth noting that neither Stitches nor There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back were actual leads - the latter was on the Illuminate re-issue and Stitches was actually single 3! Life of the Party was his first lead and made #99 in the UK and #24 in the US but that was before he properly took off of course.

In My Blood is doing fine, I'd hoped for better actually but it's not flopping. I think the Dangerous Woman comparison is spot on, it's performing very similarly to the title track!

Besides, In My Blood doesn't really sound anything like your typical Spotify hit so I'm not surprised it's streaming that's letting it down.

I don't really think there's any cause to be ringing alarm bells for Shawn Mendes. He's still a massive name right now and his star seems to be shining equally as bright. I'm certain he will achieve bigger hits than this again in the future.
I think he could easily get another big hit if he went back to the sound of 'Stitches' and 'Treat You Better', it's great that he's experimenting a bit and still managing to score a solid hit if of course not his biggest ever.
That Christina song has just clicked with me, love it. She also looks amazing now she’s lost weight, shame it’s flopping.

She looks amazing whatever size she is....

'Familiar' is the more Urban leaning counterpart to Burke's 'Start Without You' that I never knew we needed *.* So happy to see it's likely to become a huge hit for him, now that the video has premiered. I can see it actually being HUGE and hearing it everywhere for a few months.

Hopefully this time the Radio 1 DJs won't be criticising the song every time they play it!
