July 12, 20187 yr Author I too had thought it could number 1 but i was happy with its Number 2 debut as it was an improved position on her previous few studio album chart positions. Light Years provided excitement, the singles were performing well as was the album, Kylie carried out lots of promotion and luckily which did help, the tabloids were really behind her for the whole era and for a long time to follow.

July 12, 20187 yr IP i refer to as a crucial album for Kylie personally and career wise. She really needed to do that album. Kylie was able to show she can write songs and it showed she is versatile. This was the album i felt she wanted to make for a long time. I do wish that Where The Wild Roses Grow was housed on the album as it is home of this era of music for Kylie and i think it is fair to say it brought her another level of credibility to some who often overlooked her. The IP era led to the import Intimate and Live Tour which from what i believe helped Kylie realise she still enjoys pop music, her fans wanted another pop album from her, combined, it started the road to Light Years and the career turnaround that helped cement Kylie's status as a worldwide superstar with huge longevity. 100%!!!! I always say that we may not have the same Kylie we have today without Impossible Princess. That was an essential piece for her to move forward.
