Ajax have beaten Tottenham 1-0. The football that Ajax played for the majority of the 1st half was one of the best I've seen in a while, they had Tottenham running round in circles and they could have made it 2 in the 2nd half if it wasn't for hitting the post.

Ajax was insane for 30 minutes, they ran rings round Spurs, it was about as one sided a game I have seen in ages - Spurs could barely get a kick!

Having said that, Ajax tired massively in the 2nd half and if Spurs could create proper chances and score goals they probably would have done. Still, you'd make Ajax strong favourites at this point, I can't see Spurs winning in Amsterdam.

It is quite amusing that Pool fell to the same result we did at the Nou Camp. Obviously they played much better but they blew all their big chances & the scoreline is the only thing that matters at the end of the day.

As good as the PL teams have been this year, no single player holds a candle to the likes of Messi which is all it usually boils down to.

We were on another planet to you at the Nou Camp!!!

That result is sickening. Sometimes the football Gods are just not with you. I knew we'd get chances as we're a great side, but we didn't take them which is unlike us. We caused them allsorts of problems and 3-0 absolutely flatters Barcelona. I'm positive we'll beat them at Anfield, but doubtful 3-0. Might not be our year this year but we're an unbelievable side and can only see us improving further tbh.

Messi is just amazing when he wants to be, I mean that free kick was something else. Thought we handled him quite well for the most part.

I would be surprised if Barcelona don't score more than once again next week.

I think they will probably score, but I also think we'll beat them. We dominated much of the game at Nou Camp, I suspect we'll do the same an Anfield. Doesn't matter anyway really does it, we've gotta go out all guns blazing, won't get anything if we play for a 0-0 draw.

Real sucker punch as we were excellent, just couldn't take our multiple chances which you've got to in these games.

Had Salah scored & not hit the post that would have played a big factor in the return leg. Similarly had Dembele finished off at the end that'd been the semi over. I expect it'll be a home win as well but Barca only need the 1 goal realistically...

Yep Barcelona are massive favourites here, but it's a one off game and we know what we have to do. Not saying it will happen, but I'd be confident we could score 3 goals against Barcelona. Nothing to lose next week and stranger things have happened, all we can do is try. Let's not forget, Roma did them over at home last year under a similair result.

Pity I don't have BT sport so didn't even watch it. Sounded like we played well but somehow got beat 3-0. I guess that's sometimes what happens in the semi final!

Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino will miss tonight's Champions League semi-final second leg with Barcelona through injury.

It’s going to be a big ask for Liverpool. They need to get goals early on to stand any chance against Barcelona. If Barcelona get one then it will all be over.

We'll get chances, the key is if we take them. And akin to that we need to stop Barcelona scoring as well. It's near enough impossible task, that free kick last week was an absolute sucker punch, otherwise I'd have been fairly confident regardless of injuries.

Absolutely sensational - was confident we'd win even without Salah and Firmino. Unbelievable, I genuinely can't believe what I have just witnessed.
That's quite a comeback from Liverpool. What quick thinking from Alexander-Arnold for the fourth goal! They certainly deserve to win either the Premier League or the Champions League the way they have been playing this season.

Well how are you feeling after that, Rooney?

I don't know, it still hasn't sunk in yet. I thought we played better in the Nou Camp!

Difference was we didn't let Barcelona get away with the dark arts as much and used home advantage to make meaty tackles. This team that Klopp has put together is something else.

Sometimes you have to take your hat off to an amazing performance, well played Liverpool. Seeing Messi & Suarez's reactions was priceless.

Magnificent performance from Liverpool - the football they play at times is absolutely brilliant!

Houdini editing those earlier posts though...

I didn't notice that! One thing I will say is never write Liverpool off at home in Europe. I thought there was a 5% chance we'd go through tonight.

I loved Suarez when he played for us, but my God he is a massive twat. Think we harper on about cheating in our league a lot - deliberately injuring players is a whole new level.
