Biography

Onika Tanya Maraj (born December 8, 1982), known professionally as Nicki Minaj (/mɪˈnɑːʒ/), is a Trinidadian-born American rapper, singer, songwriter, model, and actress. Born in Saint James, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago and raised in Queens, New York City, New York, she gained public recognition after releasing the mixtapes Playtime Is Over (2007), Sucka Free (2008), and Beam Me Up Scotty (2009).

After signing with Young Money Entertainment in 2009, Minaj released her first studio album, Pink Friday (2010), which peaked at number one on the US Billboard 200 and was ultimately certified triple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Her sophomore album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, was released in 2012 and debuted at number one in several countries. Minaj made her film debut in the 2012 animated film Ice Age: Continental Drift, followed by supporting roles in The Other Woman (2014) and Barbershop: The Next Cut (2016). In 2013, she was a judge on the twelfth season of American Idol. Her third studio album, The Pinkprint, was released in 2014.

Early in her career, Minaj was known for her colorful costumes and wigs. Her rapping is distinctive for its fast flow and the use of alter egos and accents, primarily British cockney. Minaj was the first female artist included on MTV's annual Hottest MC List. In 2016, Minaj was included on the annual Time 100 list of the most influential people in the world. As a lead artist, she has earned four top-five entries on the Billboard Hot 100: "Super Bass" in 2011, "Starships" in 2012, "Bang Bang" and "Anaconda", both in 2014.

Throughout her career, Minaj has received numerous accolades, including six American Music Awards, eleven BET Awards, three MTV Video Music Awards, four Billboard Music Awards, a Billboard Women in Music Rising Star Award, and ten Grammy Award nominations. She has the most Billboard Hot 100 entries among women of all genres in the chart's history. Minaj has sold 20 million singles as a lead artist, 60 million singles as a featured artist, and over five million albums worldwide, making her one of the world's best-selling music artists. - Wikipedia

Barbie Dreams!

Guess this means Majesty isn’t Top 40 though :/

edit: radio edit does not do this song justice

Edited by Dexton

I'm liking 'Don't Leave Me Alone' more than 'Friends' and '2002', although that's not saying much really. Only just heard 'Let Me Live' for the first time today and I like that even more, a shame it's struggling to even scrape the top 40!
I haven't heard this before, and it's not as bad as I expected. It's got a nice beat and easily better than the previous singles from the album.
First time listening to 'Barbie Dreams' sounds okay, nothing special.
Finding some of Nicki's 'disses' in this song in pretty bad taste...

Edited by mdh

I was expecting "Don't Leave Me Alone" to be at least a couple of places higher. A proper poor effort from Guetta yet again, and there was me thinking he'd left the dull future bass trend behind after "Flames" was more chilled. :(

It's not like "Flames" was anything special. The music he's producing these days is nothing on the days when he was originally collaborating with Sia.

Biography

Au/Ra

Born in Ibiza and raised in Antigua, singer/songwriter Au/Ra crafts alternative pop with electronic influences inspired by her multicultural upbringing. Influenced by artists like Lana Del Rey, Kraftwerk, the Neighbourhood, and Arctic Monkeys, the young Jamie Lou Stenzel was raised by music-loving parents (her father is a producer in the electronic/trance scene) and decided to pursue music at the age of ten. Under the name Jamie Lou, she uploaded her covers of songs by Birdy, P!nk, Shakira, Rihanna, and more. Later, she adopted the Au/Ra moniker, taking inspiration from a character in her self-penned Lord of the Rings fan fiction. Her first single, "Concrete Jungle," bore a striking resemblance to Lorde, a "Royals 2.0" for 2016. She followed with "Outsiders," an outcast anthem that interpolated Pink Floyd's "Another Brick in the Wall" into its lyrics. Her third single, "Kicks," was another big beat anthem with vocals leaning in the direction of Halsey. These three tracks would find their way onto her debut EP, Outsiders, which arrived in 2017. - iTunes

CamelPhat

Mike Di Scala and Dave Whelan are CamelPhat, a British electronic duo traversing various styles of deep house and techno. Formed in 2008, the pair put out a number of digital EPs and singles via Vice and Nervous Records before signing to Dutch EDM label Spinnin' Records in 2014. Enjoying chart success in Belgium with tracks such as "Constellations," "Paradigm," "Make 'Em Dance," and "The Act," they came to widespread prominence in 2017 with "Cola," a collaborative track produced with fellow electronic musician Elderbrook. - iTunes

Biography

Panic! at the Disco is an American rock band from Las Vegas, Nevada, formed in 2004 by childhood friends Brendon Urie, Ryan Ross, Spencer Smith and Brent Wilson. Since 2015, vocalist Urie is the only official member in the band, supported on tours by guitarist Kenneth Harris, drummer Dan Pawlovich, and bassist Nicole Row. Panic! at the Disco recorded its first demos while its members were in high school. Shortly after, the band recorded and released its debut studio album, A Fever You Can't Sweat Out (2005). Popularized by the second single, "I Write Sins Not Tragedies," the album was certified double platinum in the US. In 2006, founding bassist Brent Wilson was fired from the band during an extensive world tour and subsequently replaced by Jon Walker.

Influenced by 1960s rock bands the Beatles, the Zombies and the Beach Boys, and preceded by the single "Nine in the Afternoon," the band's second studio album, Pretty. Odd. (2008) marked a significant departure from the sound of the band's debut. Ross and Walker, who favored the band's new direction, departed because Urie and Smith wanted to make further changes to the band's style. The duo subsequently formed a new band, The Young Veins, leaving Urie and Smith as the sole remaining members of Panic! at the Disco.

Continuing as a duo, Urie and Smith released a new single, "New Perspective," and recruited bassist Dallon Weekes and guitarist Ian Crawford as touring musicians for live performances. Weekes was later inducted into the band's lineup as a full-time member in 2010. The band's third studio album, Vices & Virtues (2011), was recorded solely by Urie and Smith in 2010, produced by John Feldmann and Butch Walker.

As a three-piece, Urie, Smith, and Weekes recorded and released the band's fourth studio album, Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die!, in 2013. Prior to the release of the album, Smith unofficially left the band due to health and drug-related issues, leaving Urie and Weekes as the remaining members. The duo recruited guitarist Kenneth Harris and drummer Dan Pawlovich as touring musicians for live performances.

In 2015, Smith officially left the band after not performing live with the band since his departure in 2013. Shortly thereafter, Weekes reverted to being a touring member once again, leaving Urie as the only member of the official lineup. In April 2015, "Hallelujah" was released as the first single from Panic! at the Disco's fifth studio album, Death of a Bachelor (2016). In December 2017, Weekes officially announced his departure from the band. Preceded by lead single "Say Amen (Saturday Night)," the band's sixth studio album, Pray for the Wicked, was released on June 22, 2018. - iTunes

High Hopes! Really hope this can climb higher at some point, it’s about to go Top 10 in Australia so some success elsewhere would be amazing!

Pray For The Wicked has easily become my favourite album of 2018, sorry Justin/George

It's not like "Flames" was anything special. The music he's producing these days is nothing on the days when he was originally collaborating with Sia.

I know, "Flames" was quite lack-lustre but at least it offered something different to a shite chopped vocals drop. I long for the days of "She Wolf" and "Titanium", two fantastic songs

("High Hopes" is alright, but Panic have proper sold out with this album tbh)
