That's true; when they first started doing the debates The Lib Dems were included (which did help Clegg), but I guess after the coalition the Lib Dems seat numbers seriously reduced.

I can't help but feel though if Jo Swinson was included that she'd just turn it into a Brexit debate.

I was quite pro Lib Dem and was erring on the side of voting for them tbh, but I'm currently sitting in 'vote labour' camp :D but that is probably because out of the left parties they get the most coverage.

That depends on the structure of the debate. I would imagine it will be structured so as to make sure other subjects do get discussed.

If you're undecided, I would suggest you try and get some information on how your constituency might ne leaning. The result last time (unless, for example, it is a safe Labour seat in the north of England) won't necessarily give you the full picture.

I'm in a Tory stronghold (unfortunately) - so which way I vote is probably a bit meaningless anyway

General Election poll shows Labour make a comeback as Brexit Party dives

The latest opinion polls suggest the December general election may be a two-horse race after all. The Britain Elects live opinion poll tracker saw Labour shoot up by almost 4% in 10 days while the Tories fell by 2%. It means the Conservatives now lead by just 9% based on latest data, with the Brexit Party plunging to just 9% in the polls. The results suggest Labour and the Conservatives are leading as support for the Lib Dems, Brexit Party and Greens trails away.

The Tory drop came after Boris Johnson was slammed for a slow response to the devastating flooding in Yorkshire and the Midlands yesterday. Victims faced the PM yesterday to tell him the Government’s response was ‘too little too late’. Meanwhile Jeremy Corbyn saw a boost after promising to pump £26 billion into the NHS and offering free higher education and A-level or equivalent courses to adults. The Brexit Party has lost support, dropping from 11% to 9% after announcing Nigel Farage’s decision to stand down 317 candidates in Tory held seats.

The Liberal Democrats and Green Party also saw their stock fall, with Jo Swinson’s party dipping to just 16% from a high of 20% in October. The latest poll was released with just hours to go until the deadline for candidates to officially enter, which closes at 4pm today.

From Sky: Professor John Curtice, a month ahead, says "chance of Labour majority is zero. Best they can hope for is polls to narrow and be largest party"

Here is his take:

For a majority Labour must *gain* 80 seats

They don't need that many extra votes really over 2017 - but they wont get 80 extra seats.

They'll get enough to win 40 *if* LD/G help.

They *wont* take seats from SNP/LD/G

I wonder what would happen if no polls were allowed to be published during election campaigns?

Would actually make it more exciting on the night. No polls until the exit poll at 10pm. :o

It's not as though polls have been particularly accurate for the past few years
Also, completely agree on the Lib Dem thing. At this stage, I don’t know any of their current policies other than stopping Brexit.

They don't have any others. :D

Yawn. It shouldn't take you long to find lots of other policies.

It'll be interesting to see if Jo talks about any others except Brexit in the debates.

As I've already said, I suspect the debates will be structed in such a way as to ensure other subjects are covered, however much your mate might want to avoid issues such as the NHS.

If you mean our current PM, Boris, then I'm sure he'll welcome being able to tell the British public that he's going to put more money every year in to the NHS and train more Drs and nurses.

Just not as much money that is required, or as much as other parties are promising :P

You mean he has promised to spend less than anyone else. He has promised to increase spending by less than is needed to keep up with an ageing population, new treatments etc.

At least they're not going to sell it to the Americans as Labour claims. Talk about lies during an election campaign...

And what makes you think you can trust them, given Boris' track record as a liar is very well documented.

Well there'd be such an uproar if it was sold off. I genuinely don't think any party would dare sell off our beloved great NHS.

What are the horrendous mistakes?

Rooney supported Mad May, so he trends Tory :P There are no Labour gaffes so far.

I just think it's gonna be like last time, with a bit more tactical voting, with 2 big parties over 40% and Lib Dems taking a few more Tory seats and Tories losing their Scottish seats and DUP losing their seats. Not lookin good for Bojo the Clown!!

Yes there are.. check out the Labour candidate for Leicester East. I think it just shows naivety to the communities.

Westminster voting intention:

CON: 43% (+3)

LAB: 30% (-)

LDEM: 15% (-)

BREX: 5% (-3)

GRN: 2% (-1)
