Returns to the UK albums chart at #67! (Although OCC have it as a new entry for some reason... maybe because of the change in label)

Re-enters at #67 - Sainsburys have also said stores would be recieving more stores I Today.

Glad it’s charted, it helps show the record company once again there is a demand!

Other charts:

Vinyl Albums - #4

Physicals - #21

Sales (Physicals and Downloads) #25

It dropped much further than i expected.

A 30 place drop from the last midweek position we got.

That said, great to see it back on the chart and second time this year Kylie has 2 albums in the top 75 region of the chart.

Unfortunately no sales total (yet... fingers crossed I'll be able to find out). Back in 2009 it was revealed to have sold 121,608.

Kylie Minogue’s eponymous fifth album – a No.4 success in 1994 – sold 1,071 copies on vinyl before being deleted. It has now been reissued as a Sainsbury’s exclusive on white vinyl, in which format it sold 1,587 copies last week to re-enter the chart at No.67. Meanwhile, her latest album, Golden – No.1 in April – climbs for the fifth straight week, advancing 56-40 (2,138 sales), a 14 week high.

Interesting to know that it previously only sold 1,071 copies on vinyl. I assume that would include the original 1994 release and the 2016 Be With Records re-release?

I wonder if it sold any copies via CD/download/streaming this week? Surely there must have been a bit of streaming at least? #66 sold 1,590 overall, but the above quote states KM94 sold 1,587 vinyl copies to land at #66, but that's not necessarily its full weekly total. It makes me wonder whether 1,587 actually includes a few sales from other formats.

Wouldn't be surprised if it receives 0 sale-equivalent streams most weeks given Confide In Me and Put Yourself in My Place won't be counted (the top 2 streamers of an album don't get included, right?).

Would be interested to see what it's trickle sales are though, so hopefully we get an updated total.

They're included, but they're "neutralised"!

"The 2 album tracks attracting most streams are neutralised to the level of the average of the next 10 highest

streamed tracks associated with the album (or all tracks where album has < 12 tracks).

When establishing the revised streams for neutralised tracks from an album, the average streams applied to

neutralised tracks will be based on streams of all ISRCs linked to the 10 single products used in the

calculation. (See Appendix 1 Figure 3).

After the methodology above is applied, the streams of the top 12 tracks (or all tracks where an album < 12

tracks) making up the album are aggregated together and converted to create the “Streaming album DUS”,

using a conversion rate of 1,000 streams = 1 album sale.

A new album DUS is created from adding together the physical album DUS, digital album DUS and the

streaming album DUS. (See Appendix 1 Figure 3)"

Complicated

Thanks Jay, yeah very complicated!

Does anyone have an estimation of what the album overall sales are?

I think Light Years sold 12k between 2009 and 2018 so I guess KM94 might be just over 125k by now.

Total UK sales for KM94 are only around 125,000, is this correct?

I had believed the album was close to 400,000 UK sales.

Afraid so! It debuted at #4 which was pretty good considering the #15 debut of her previous album, but it fell away quickly before a mini resurrection when it returned to the Top 40 briefly.

Amazing that it’s sold the same as Golden has - Golden seems like a huge success whilst KM94 felt like it underperformed massively, I wonder what Deconstructioms expectations were for the album? Surely they would have been wanting 300,000+ in the UK.
Easily they would have hoped for platinum. If you think of how different the sales climate is now to then, if golden was released during a period of higher sales it would be a much bigger selling album, comparing the sales markets then snd now golden is a much greater success than km94.

With KM94 out of the way I’m guessing IP will be next - I need that vinyl version in my life but am already dreading the thought of getting a copy and the eBay prices as I think an IP reissue would be huge :drama:

My white vinyl of KM94 arrived from Amazon Germany today (Identical to my Sainsburys copy minus the ‘Sainsburys Exclusive’ sticker  ). This seems to have a standard release across Europe as it’s available on amazon France and Germany - such a shame they released it in such limited numbers in her biggest market especially as HMV are stocking a huge back catalogue of vinyl now, her albums really should be available.

Few people are saying they have found this in Sainsbury’s this week reduced to £13 - random for them to reappear (Of course the white vinyl is also available on Amazon for £15 minus the ‘Sainsburys Exclusive’ sticker).

Def agree, all her albums should be ready available on vinyl.
