Top 5 sales are up but MW have made an error with the top 2 albums :(

I know too many of them IRL as well!

What I don't understand is why the streams were so high on the first day (two in the top 100 and nine in the top 200) and then dropped off so hard?

Also I'm surprised If Love is the Law has entered for Noel, when they showed a performance of Holy Mountain.

It was released on vinyl this week.

Ah, it's good that his post-album singles are doing well. The lead from his next album should definitely go top 40 like the last one.

Just a classic case of big fanbase streams on day 1 with a big drop off the next day. BROCKHAMPTON aren't exactly all that commercial so don't have the casual Spotify audience keeping their album tracks in the chart like with Drake/Eminem/Travis Scott etc.

I mean they never even had one song in the top 200 for a single day prior to this album release to be fair, so even having a bunch in there for a day before vanishing was a huge improvement for them  album track streams peak on the first day for pretty much all artists as it's about the only day they'll get any significant number of 'curiosity streams' from people who aren't already fans. And, taking off my stan goggles to be realistic for a moment, this album probably isn't likely to appeal much beyond the existing fanbase as it's much more experimental than their previous stuff, so it probably isn't retaining many of the people who were checking them out for the first time out of curiosity :kink:

It would be interesting to see where the songs fell to though, all we know is that they fell out of the top 200. (Unless there is some kind of extended Spotify chart somewhere that I don't know about?)

I guess curiosity streams would have to be the one of the key explaining factors.

We can't really tell what happened in the UK Spotify so I would just have a look at how the response was elsewhere. In the US chart they had 13 songs in the top 150 (highest being #52) and that dropped to just 4 in the top 200 (highest #121) the following day, to only 2 that remain there now (at #163 and #182).

Chip as low as #18 in the first update is disappointing to see, particularly as his last - less commercial - album was a T10; and the genre has only grown in popularity since. Bit annoyed that the new single with Not3s is looking to chart too, when “Darth Vader”, nor “My Girl” hit the T100 - ah well.

Suede will likely drop through the week but are safe for Top 10, ideally they will retain a Top 5 entry.

Really impressed with Kylie this week.

I didn't even know Chipmunk was still alive let alone releasing music!

Looking like a much more interesting week in the singles chart hurrah.

Great to see Mumford in the Top 30. Would be great to see them just hang on in by Friday but unlikely.

Yeh prob this eras only real chance of impacting singles chart wise!!

Underwhelmed by Christines opening, both her and Suede will be on around 12-14k with eminem at the top spot again with 20-25k and TGS at number 2 no doubt!

I know! Their average lifespan is 6-10 years.

The album is hottest record on Annie Mac tonight - have a feeling they could be pushed into the Sound if 2019 hype over the coming months until January. Incidentally off topic but Lana Del Reys new single is Annie Record of the week all week!

Intrigued to see whether the Christine/Suede figures are a typo or whether they're really tied.
The OCC say that Christine and the Queens have a lead of less than 1k. I'm guessing the Suede figure is correct and Christine is on 9k.

Ah thanks Liam. That could be better I guess but I'm not totally disappointed given the hype seemed to disappear once Girlfriend had been released.

I know it's only the beginning of the week admittedly, but those are dreadful album sales for just three days. Regardless, the Christine and the Queens album is brilliant and I hope it can hang on.
