I’m not totally surprised it’s starting to drop quickly. It started well but with little promotion lined up and no further singles planned it will be lucky to shift 100k in total. I really can’t see the campaign stretching to Xmas!

BMG were great at making the ‘Golden’ era last and I believe they will try to do the same - the reissue could have a lead single to boost it? However I think we need to see how it holds up over the coming weeks - a 1-2-4-12 chart run is not to be sniffed at tbh!

Why would they re-issue a hits album? There's no point, something like this should sell itself over time because it's THE most comprehensive Kylie GH - the first point of reference for new fans. I'd love her to keep promoting it but even if she doesn't, it should be another gold seller in her back pocket, has already hit #1 and the Glasto acclaim has put her in great stead going into the next era whenever that begins. Reissuing a greatest hits album would be a waste of time especially when it was a minimal effort affair to begin with.

There has actually been talk of a third disc being added in time for Christmas to include songs like 'Into the Blue' and 'Chocolate' and maybe new music. Kylie herself referred to it in an interview and it's the sort of thing BMG would do if Golden is anything to go by.

I can see BMG proceeding with a 3cd disc release especially when Kylie has mentioned it.

What it will contain we dont know but i feel it will get released.

The head of BMG and Kylie have mentioned a repackage in separate interviews so it’s certainly something they are looking into....

#12 today, I think that'll probably be its final position. Set for ~4k, preferably just over.

I’m not at all disappointed with that, of course would have loved it to stay Top 10 but a 1-2-4-12 start to its chart life is pretty solid tbh.

I would have preferred a 1-2-4-8 style chart run, but Top 15 on week 4 is not too bad of an outcome.

Yup. Even minimal effort The Best of Kylie managed to go Silver after a while, so this'll continue selling as long as it's in print. I doubt they planned for a long chart run either way considering all effort seems to have focused around Glastonbury. I don't really see the need to push this to become a huge seller - better to put effort into making new music and taking advantage of it.

A long standing artist will get greatest hits sales, I know kylie has released a few and ultimate kylie was a big seller but id like this to do well and be pushed as it's her most comprehensive greatest hits so far.

Step Back In Time is the most comprehensive by far and it covers alot of ground from Kylie.

Having released some previous Best Of Collections, some available, some not, can take away from newer releases mainly Ultimate Kylie a million plus seller.

The changing music industry and access to music also takes away from such releases.

That said, there is still a market for these style of releases and it is good to push sales where possible as these albums serve as wonderful reminders to a seriously impressive back catalogue covering a 30 year career.

I think the opposite - I think they will continue to push this and milk as many sales out of it as possible before it becomes a trickle seller especially if new Kylie material is not due for a while they have nothing to lose by doing so.
That is what i would greatly welcome them doing and BMG know how to work to get albums selling.
I haven’t bought this yet as I’m waiting to see if a reissue comes to light. I’d be up for buying a 3 cd version if it includes new material but couldn’t justify paying £10 for NYC when it’s not even a great track.

If NYC was a different song i strongly feel the album could have attracted some extra sales.

NYC was a terrible choice as a single to promote the album.

Had a song on the level of Dancing would have served the album so much greater.
