Wait have I missed something, people are saying that westlife could get a top ten this year, as if, they’ll be lucky to go top 100. They were last a contender for a no. 1 in 2009 I think but stalled at 2 and last had a major top ten hit the following year, and it has been almost a decade since then. I mean look at boyzone, both similar Irish boy bands who do polished and manufactured songs and covers and they’re not getting far at all.

They have to be joking tbh

Westlife should at least go top 40 with it being their comeback single, the Ed Sheeran co-write and possible X Factor performance and stools I'd think.

Let me just rephrase that for you ;)

I don't think they signed with Syco this time around so I can't see Simon giving them the platform. The Strictly/Radio 2 audience is likely where they could and should be aiming for.

The irony of everybody loving the 'A Star Is Born' soundtrack (particularly 'Shallow') when it sounds like it came straight from the 'Joanne' sessions.

Umm not everybody is liking the movie or soundtrack (in fact most people I know have said it doesn't add anything to the 1976 film). If you like MOR country-soft-rock then you'll love this soundtrack - I didn't like it at all; all too Maroon 5 for me, too safe, too x factor and dull as f**k - although I did like 'I Don't Know What Love Is'.

The Sigala album not falling as hard as I expected however still a big underperformance.
If Steps, Kylie, Take That etc., can manage it then so can Westlife - they will have a lot of interest in their return and if they release a physical format fans will lap it up (That’s how ‘Giants’ by Take That managed to go Top 15).

Steps and Kylie missed a trick not doing a cd single.

Kylie released a limited edition of 5000 vinyls and the week that was released was when Dancing finally managed Top 40, that said, not all of these sales were counted as some were sold outside the UK.

Had Kylie and Steps released cd singles on impact week they would have made a much higher position.

Both songs, considering their peak position sold well, Kylie in particular is close to 100,000.

Without the cd single, Giants by Take That, would have likely missed the Top 40.

Westlife have the type of fanbase who enjoy physical singles, in large, Westlife didn't have exceptional chart runs in the singles chart so a cd single would really boost their chances of a higher peaking single.

Lets not forget, if the physical can get you into the Top 40 it means getting a play on the chart show which helps get the song out there.

This aside, the artists mentioned are all album sellers and concert sellers and the days of big hits are unfortunately over which is disappointing as they all (Westlife not included as its not out yet) released, what was in my opinion, wonderful pop songs.

Erm it's not supposed to add anything to the 1976 film it's basically a remake with totally new music how would that add something

Jess Glynne could go 1 of 3 ways Sam Smith successful but not as big as first, ed sheeran bigger than the first or duffy total flop and it's unlikely to be that it will have at least 3 top 10s on the deluxe version 2 on standard

i reckon jess glynne is set to do a sam smith, this era hasn't been as big as her first so far based on her singles performance but she's doing reasonably well. she'll really need another big song to keep it selling thru winter.

Agreed with this.

I think 'the greatest showman reimagined' although sounds awful to my ears, has the potential to be a massive seller. It's not released for another 5 weeks but I can see it spending a lot of weeks at the no1 position.

^ kelly clarkson is gonna cover Never Enough

Xmas #1 please!!!

The prospect of a Never Enough cover being the christmas #1 this year is frightening

I think it will only chart in the Compilation Albums chart.

I agree. It's a multi-artist covers album and not an original soundtrack album.
