Fourth and final international single to be lifted from Kylie's debut album, 'Je ne sais pas pourquoi' marked Kylie's first dabble at a ballad. It plays on the 'unlucky in love' theme of 'Lucky' but with a maturer perspective as Kylie has grown wise to her lover's wrongdoings. Still, she accepts that she can't stop loving him and Kylie gives a heart-felt, sympathetic performance. Original plans for the single would see its B-side 'Made in Heaven' become the main single once sales started to dwindle, however the success of 'Je ne sais pas pourquoi' in its own right (and presumably plans to push the Kylie and Jason collaboration over Christmas) saw these plans not materialise. Indeed, its UK #2 peak meant that Kylie had achieved the best start to a career for a female singer with four Top 2s under her belt.

As 'Je ne sais pas pourquoi' reaches 30 years since it reached #2 in the UK charts, share your thoughts and memories below. How does its flip-side number 'Made in Heaven' fair for you, too?

Both songs are wonderful and yet so different.

Overall, i slightly prefer Made In Heaven as it is a lovely slice of cheese pop done very well.

To its credit Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi has aged well and doesn't sound like a late 80's track at all.

Not one of my faves, it's cute I guess! Would have to disagree with Pippa, I don't think it could be more 80s sounding if it tried lol, it's very dated.
One of my favourite Kylie songs of all  Very dated but I loved the Kylie era and all the memories associated with that time.

Kylie acknowledges more in that the last few years than she did prior.

It went a long time where Kylie never performed it or had it in medleys.

It felt very sweet that Kylie performed this at Glastonbury.

For the many who may have forgotten the song, it was a nice reminder to a large audience.

I thoroughly enjoy when Kylie rolls out the old hits in their original sound.

That said, the Loco Motion update worked as it kept the essence of the song in an updated sound.

It would be better than NYC.

I am not totally understanding of the Step Back in Time remixes.

It is great they remixes were created but there is little to let people know about them.

If a third disc is added to the Greatest Hits for future release i would be very disappointed if it was a cd of remixes.

I hope that is not the planned route for such remixes.

Is is an enjoyable song, but i would still have a preference for Made In Heaven.
