The album went Gold in the UK, why not re-release? I do love this album.
I was expecting her to at least re-promote this Christmas so a re-release is not a surprise. I don't think it'll out-do the first chart performance or end up being a release that returns every year like Michael Buble's album, but I think it'll easily return and stay Top 40 over the course of Christmas.
She could add a bonus DVD of the concert she did last year which was wonderful in addition to 2-3 new songs.

The downside of a re-release by Kylie is she has never really pulled a good re-release off. In the past her re-releases have largely gone un-noticed. I really feel they missed the boat completely on the Fever re-release and likewise with Ultimate Kylie.

It will be very interesting to see how she promotes the album this Christmas, without good promotion again it could get very lost in the Christmas releases. I would hope she can get a slot on Strictly or the X Factor at the least. To Kylie's credit she did lots of promotion for the album last year and it worked as the album sold over 100,000 in a 7-8 week frame.

Ultimate Kylie was re-released? I don't recall that. I agree they missed the boat with the reissues of Light years and Fever.

Looking forward to seeing what extras will be included on Kylie Christmas. Maybe the SAW remix of Every day's like Christmas plus a few new songs and a DVD. It's a great album so I'll probably buy it again.

It was only re-released in Australia to go with the Homecoming tour I think. All it had was a new cover and the video DVD with it.

Her re-releases were never really "let's attack the charts" tbh, more "here's a few nice remixes and b-sides". This is the first time she's actually gone and added brand new songs.

Back in the day, I'm sure re-releases were only a thing to either mark an anniversary, for if the original release flopped or to add a couple of remixes/B-sides that fans may like, as Regina said. Nowadays, it's usually done to capitalise on the success of an era because the album market is in such a low state that it's hard to get multiple big selling albums, or to bridge the gap between the end of the album's original campaign and the release of the next album, because it's hard to remain relevant if you have so much as a year's break from the limelight.
I wish she'd let this go. :(

It's not like she's rinsing it though year after year like Buble? There are still sales to be had and it gives us some new songs and promo while we wait for a new studio album

This is a bit of a moot point, considering this upcoming Christmas will only be its second Christmas in existence! :kink:

With a re-release planned, she's already following in the footsteps of Michael, who also re-released his Xmas album a year following its original release. So that could be taken as being an indication that Kylie would like 'Kylie Christmas' to be an annual thing. I wouldn't blame her if she wants to milk it for all it's worth, given that it did pretty well for her last year.

I'm personally not opposed to the re-release, in fact I'd welcome it if it includes a DVD of her Royal Albert Hall concert!

I am not opposed to the re-release, i am actually happy to see her really pushing an album for a change as i dont think she has done this for a while. Buble did a re-release but to his credit the album is selling naturally ever since. Buble hasnt promoted it the last 2 years and it has still managed to sell extremely well in the Christmas period.

Jay i am with you, i would welcome a DVD release of the Albert Hall Concert as in honesty it was only when i watched the concert i got more into her Christmas album. I also loved the updated versions of the songs (non-Christmas) she performed and i loved her rendition of I Wish it Could Be Christmas Every Day.

A DVD inclusion, the Robbie duet (which surely will be a proper single) and 2-3 other songs would persuade me to purchase the album for a second time.

We don't know the Robbie duet is for the Christmas album though. I hope it's not, she had enough features on it as it was.
Good point, i just assumed the Robbie duet was recorded and it was for the re-release.

 I thought that after I posted it but Buble had a huge album in his first year where as Kylie 'only' sold 100k so I don't blame her for going after the lucrative Christmas market for a 2nd attempt as there are still sales to be had and she's well aware a new studio album would struggle in Q4.

I think she could get equally as big sales this year with some great promo.

The Christmas album keeps her in the spotlight which helps when she releases the new studio album. If Kylie releases her new studio album at the right time she could achieve another number 1 album.
Kylie's album sales are still relatively good when you compare them to other artists like Britney who has dropped 2-41 this week.
