It was aimed at the UK market not the US, just look at the artists on it. I'm sure it will go platinum in the UK.

I got sent it on Facebook as part of "let's get this to number one" campaign and you're right, it's a dreadful dated cover. Thankfully being #1 on iTunes means pretty much nothing when it will inevitably not be streamed.
