I mean for all we know a country might veto any extension to Article 50 which leaves us totally fuked.

This is the current state of play with the EU27 wrt an extension to Article 50:

France/Macron the big issue here, I think they are wanting an extension of at least 1 year which will mean EU elections in May.

The last 3 years have been a right clusterf*** haven't they? It's like a perfect storm that is coming to a head, with a no-deal Brexit the likely outcome.

I'm totally in despair right now :(

Indeed. I place the blame at Cameron's door. Gambled on the future of the country to secure his position and for short-term party gain. "We need to stop banging on about Europe". Those words have come back to haunt him.

That's what I suspect the ERG are gambling on - Parliment vote for No Deal, but we get No Deal forced upon us anyway. Makes a mockery of everything and leaves us totally fuked.

Actually while Cameron started this process, I personally place a lot of blame on May and Corbyn. There was no need to jump straight in with Article 50, we could literally have gone through any Brexit approach possible, maybe even a cross-party one to get the best possible deal for the country. But nope, May and her bloody red lines. Absolutely disasterous decsion from her, the Brexit secretary and everyone else involved - none of the fukkers had any idea of what they were doing,

Yep, he started it and then pissed off. Twat.

The timeline of catastrophe:

(2010 GE with Tory led Austerity)

2013 Cameron announcing referendum, not expecting to get a majority in 2015 election.

Announcing a vote that he didn't have to hold.

Not writing in any safeguards into the referendum Act.

A lacklustre government Remain campaign.

Disenfranchised people fed up with not being heard due to Tory austerity.

Barefaced lies (PROVEN) by the Leave campaign and prominent Leave campaigners, making ludicrous promises they could not keep.

Narrowly losing a non-binding referendum, Tories running scared of UKIP so 'honour' result/career opportunities seized by scumbag Tories.

Teresa May being PM (this by itself is a summary!!).

Calling a GE in 2017, losing her majority, bribing the DUP and relying on them for votes.

PM pandering to ERG.

Faffing Brexit secretaries, expecting flying unicorns from a deal (they need us more than we need them, have out cake and eat it, blah blah bollocks).

Half hearted deal agreed, merry go round with Brexit secretaries.

Deal rejected.

No real changes made.

Deal rejected.

EU totally pissed off.

YES IM f***ED OFF WITH THE LOT OF THEM. Time for Parliament to get its act together, and stop making us the laughing stock of the world.

I agree, May and Corbyn have both been hopeless. That doesn't stop it being MOSTLY Cameron's fault for calling the referendum in the first place, and then pissing off when he lost. If there wasn't a referendum we wouldn't be in this position - and it's quite hard to see really how a 52/48 split could be successfully reconciled so for all May's faults you couldn't heap most of the blame on her as she's in a near impossible situation.

Usually when you call a referendum you thrash out serious proposals for BOTH outcomes, Cameron was so cock-sure and arrogant that he'd win he just didn't bother.

His famous tweet on the eve of the 2015 GE on 4/5/15 just gets better with age:

"Britain faces a simple and inescapable choice, Stability and strong government with me or chaos under Ed Milliband"

I would personally add 1986 Single European Act and 1992 Marstrict Treaty to that!

Leaving the EU on no deal will deliver and respect the result of the EU referendum.

No, leaving the EU will, not a no deal (or a deal).

The ballot paper said Leave or Remain, nothing about a deal. So, you are wrong there.

Huh?

Leaving on a no deal means there isn't a deal which is exactly what people voted for which is to just leave the EU, like you said the British people didn't vote for a deal.

52% of the people only and you cannot speak for all of them.

The Leave voters who have actually have some sense and the ones I know all do not want a no deal brexit

That is a complete lie, there was absolutely nothing like this mentioned during the referendum. It’s a complete fantasy.

Anyhow No Deal rejected - honestly astounded we have so many MPs who voted to leave without a deal. Can’t believe how many idiots there are, leaving without a deal is not what’s best for the country.. and we did not vote to leave without a deal from the EU.

No it is not "a complete lie", how rude.

Bless, you think no deal has been rejected. Do you not know the law states the UK leaves on 29th March, 11pm, deal or no deal.

I think people need to make up their mind on here, what did it say on the ballot paper?

Remain or Leave. And the majority of the British people voted to leave the EU, it said nothing about a deal. The UK is a democratic country so therefore we must leave the EU with a no deal.

Yes but they will now vote on extending Article 50 so we may not be going as soon as you think.

Why do you think no deal would be great anyway?
