I see Frozen 2 is out Christmas Eve. Wonder how long that'll reign on top of the UK chart then.
I see Frozen 2 is out Christmas Eve. Wonder how long that'll reign on top of the UK chart then.
It's released 22nd November. It'll have 2 or 3 weeks at #1 then it'll be a Jumanji > Star Wars > Star Wars > Cats take over. Cats could get number 1 the week before it hits, but I'm quietly confident that Star Wars 2nd week drop will be enough to hold it off for a week (ofc it all depends on the hype and whether it can get back the fans that Last Jedi and Solo lost)

Knives Out could POTENTIALLY knock Frozen 2 off after a week before F2 reclaims it the following week, but it depends on how F2's week 1 goes. It'll be huge ofc, but I don't think there's as much hype around it as people would expect!

I think Last Christmas will be top before Frozen 2 hits.

Wonder how the Charlie's Angels remake will do.

Black Christmas, out 13th Dec, could do well too.

Edited by Freddie Kruger

Last Christmas could potentially get number 1 the week before, yeah.

I think this was such a wrong time of year for Charlie's Angels. It's gonna bomb, hard. There will be Twitter cries about female directors etc.. so I'm not looking forward to that week </3

Wow, I really thought Doctor Sleep was going to do better than that! One of the best films I've seen this year!
Amazing takings for Joker still in it's 5th week. Gets a great score of 8.8 on IMDB.

That's a HUGE drop for Aeronauts. Not surprising at all though!
That's a HUGE drop for Aeronauts. Not surprising at all though!

It opened on a Monday and its first week's takings reflected Monday-Sunday rather than the usual Friday-Sunday, so its first week takings were overly-skewed, which is why the drop is more pronounced.

Ah yes! That's very true. I forgot they had a Monday release.

Great to see Blue Story getting a solid opening even with Vue dropping it and the controversy surrounding it.

Very good opening for Frozen II even if it is a bit under what the The Lion King managed in the summer.

A bit late to note this but I believe the 6 weeks Joker managed at the top is the longest run since Avatar 10 years ago :o

Will Frozen increase in viewers as Christmas draws closer?
Great to see Blue Story getting a solid opening even with Vue dropping it and the controversy surrounding it.

I'd suggest the opposite - I believe the controversy over it being dropped actually helped its opening figures. I'd never heard of the film before it hit the headlines (and I listen to Kermode & Mayo, so I'm quite up-tp-date with what the big movies are), and the film has just got 100k of free publicity off the back of this. Banning a film gives it extra publicity, as there's a "taboo" around it, making it a must-see. such is human nature. I wouldn't be surprised if every cinema that shows the film in the next week will be sold out, with box office figures comparable with its first week.

I imagine its first week will be its biggest, but it'll still draw big numbers over the next few weeks. I think it's likely to be the #1 film until the end of the year.
