Compared to back in 2016 when most new entries never got a play and we had to put up with basically the same 25 songs every week this format is absolutely amazing.

February 1, 20197 yr This is quite dramatic - they've played a mix of fresh music and big hits so far, both of which are what the chart is about. The AJ Tracey track dropped 9 places this week, while One Kiss is an established hit still slaying almost a year on. I'd be thinking differently if AJ Tracey's track were a new entry, but it's a big dropper this week instead. (same rules don't apply for new entries involving 6ix9ine, they can skip him all they want) I just prefer the longer chart format, I always have and it's not exactly impossible for Radio 1 to bring that format back.

February 1, 20197 yr Radio 1 will always favour their own playlist when playing songs in the top 40. If i remeber right one dj that filled in for scott totally refused to play Baby Shark because he didnt like it, so im guessing that the prsenter may decide sometimes or its all down to the producer.
